San Marino win a free kick in midfield but they take it short and end up going backwards. They still have the ball, though, and this is their best spell of possession, but eventually a long pass over the top skips through to Hart.
90'
D. Rinaldi gets yellow.
Lallana is in behind as he latches on to a ball over the top, but the flag is up for offside before the board goes up to say we'll have two more minutes at Wembley.
89'
There's a rare spell of possession for San Marino as Hirsh and the substitute Rinaldi pick the ball up near the corner flag, but Wilshere does well to win the ball before then earning a free kick.
88'
OFF THE LINE!! Townsend almost gets another as Milner weaves his way into the box before trying to lay off for Oxlade-Chamberlain. It rolls into the path of Townsend, who hammers it at goal first time but Brolli is there to clear off the line.
87'
D. Rinaldi enters the game and replaces A. Selva.
Wilshere has the ball at the back as England continue to keep possession and build from the back. It feels like the hosts might get at least one more tonight.
86'
GIBBS GOES CLOSE!! The hosts win another corner and it's played low into the box, and Gibbs is there to fire a low first-time effort across goal which hits a defender and goes clear.
84'
England are quickly back in possession as there's no-one there to challenge for the goal kick. San Marino are just waiting for the whistle to end their evening, now.
83'
Rooney is everywhere at the moment as he looks for more goals to round off the evening. He skips down the left-hand side this time and fires in a low cross which is well blocked. It comes out to Milner, who tries to thread through for Rooney but it just evades his outstretched leg and goes out for a goal kick.
81'
CHANCE FOR ROONEY!! England win a corner and Milner's inswinger is met by the skipper, who powers a low header at goal which Simoncini saves and holds on to well.
80'
Could England add a couple more before the end? Rooney certainly looks in the mood to get more tonight. The visitors are definitely tiring.
Minute
Description
78'
A. Della Valle is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
The scoreline looks much more acceptable from an England point of view, now. They've matched their Wembley tally against San Marino from the World Cup qualifying stages.
OWN GOAL!! England are five up as Chambers finds Rooney with an easy ball through the middle. The captain looks for Oxlade-Chamberlain with a chipped cross, but it deflects off Della Valle and past a helpless Simoncini into the back of the net.
75'
Milner has the ball on the left and looks to flick a pass inside for Lallana, but it's cleared away for a throw before Battistini cuts out his second attempt to find the Liverpool man.
74'
L. Buscarini enters the game and replaces M. Palazzi.
The chance goes begging as the ball is fired straight into the arms of Hart, who catches with ease. England go straight up the other end and Lallana fires a shot from 20 yards which Simoncini spills, but manages to gather before anyone can get to the rebound.
73'
Well, here's a chance for San Marino as Chambers is beaten by Mateo Vitaoli and the defender brings him down just outside the box. Could the visitors get a rare goal?
72'
A. Townsend has scored a goal for England! Assist by A. Oxlade-Chamberlain.
TOWNSEND MAKES IT FOUR!! He's not been on the pitch too long, but the wide man immediately makes his mark as he cuts in from the right and unleashes a powerful left-footed shot from the edge of the box which sneaks in at the near post. Simoncini should possibly do better, but it's a good strike and England are 4-0 up.
71'
Wilshere, who has played some delightful passes this evening, is on the end of one this time as he meets a cross in the box, diverting a header at goal which Simoncini saves fairly comfortably thanks to a lack of pace on the ball.
70'
ROONEY DENIED BY SIMONCINI!! Chambers latches on to a loose ball and threads it through for Rooney, who spins and fires a hard effort at goal, but Simoncini stands firm to parry it away.
69'
Milner again fires an outswinger into the box, and Rooney is again the one to win the header, but the ball never looks like troubling the goal as it flies way over the bar.
68'
Townsend chases a pass down the right but Battistini does well to get in a challenge, and the substitute settles for a corner to England.
67'
There's some real desperate defending from San Marino as Lallana charges into the box before it falls to Rooney, who tries to shoot whenever he has the ball under control. There are too many defenders in the way, though, and it's cleared again.
66'
A. Townsend enters the game and replaces D. Welbeck.
That's the end of the night for Welbeck, who is brought off by Hodgson as Andros Townsend is introduced for England.
65'
Milner picks the ball up along the right and uses Chambers as a decoy before deciding to flick a pass in his direction. The full-back isn't expecting it and he can't keep the ball in play.
64'
Oxlade-Chamberlain is played in behind, but as is the case with many England crosses tonight his ball doesn't find a white shirt. As usual, though, the San Marino clearance has no-one up front to challenge for it and England have the ball back once more.
63'
L. Gasperoni enters the game and replaces L. Tosi.
Well, that definitely looked like Lallana was NOT in an offside position. But the goal does not stand and it's still 3-0. Meanwhile, Alex Gasperoni has replaced Tosi for the visitors
62'
GOAL!! NO...WAIT, DISALLOWED!! Rooney is through after another Wilshere ball but Simoncini gets a touch before there's some pinball in the box. Oxlade-Chamberlain fires in a shot which deflects in off Lallana, but after talking to his assistant the referee disallows it.
61'
ROONEY WASTES IT!! Wilshere has played some good passes tonight, and he finds Rooney beyond the defence with another beautiful ball over the top. The captain tries to lift the ball over Simoncini but the goalkeeper has no trouble plucking his shot out of the air. A glorious chance.
60'
Wilshere threads a lovely ball through the defence for Rooney, who looks to cut inside his man but can only win a corner. The short set piece heads towards Milner, who steps over the ball and leaves it for Cahill, and the defender's low effort hammers into a San Marino defender and away.
59'
A huge cheer goes up from the crowd as Cahill plays the ball back to Hart, giving a rare touch to the England goalkeeper. He won't have many easier games than this one.
58'
GOOD SAVE SIMONCINI!! He's made one or two good stops tonight, and this is another one as Wilshere chips a delightful ball into the box. Oxlade-Chamberlain rises high and glances a header towards the far post, forcing a good low save from the San Marino goalkeeper.
57'
JUST WIDE!! After some good one-touch passing, the hosts struggle to find their way through a blue wall, but Oxlade-Chamberlain has some space around 25 yards out and decides to try a volleyed effort which whistles past Simoncini's post.
56'
Rooney sprays the ball out to Chambers, who manages to find Welbeck despite a poor touch. His cross is cleared but England have it again as they get to the second ball first.
55'
Chiaruzzi is in a bit of pain after he and Lallana go in for a bouncing ball, and the San Marino man gets some England studs in his shin. The hosts have it back very quickly once again as the lack of quality from their opponents shows through.
54'
Wilshere looks for Lallana with a threaded pass which Selva cuts out, but England again manage to win possession back within a few seconds. Milner then gives it away again as he looks to fire a pass out wide to Chambers, but it's way too far in front of the full-back and the visitors have a throw.
52'
The key for England now is to maintain this tempo for the reamainder of the game. Welbeck gets into an advanced position and turns a defender inside out before seeing his low cross blocked behind.
51'
Milner swings the corner away from goal and Rooney backtracks to meet it, directing a header on target but there's no pace on it and Simoncini has no trouble catching.
50'
England already have a bit more pace and threat about them after those changes - Lallana causes more problems as he picks the ball up and fires in a dangerous cross which is diverted behind.
49'
D. Welbeck has scored a goal for England! Assist by A. Oxlade-Chamberlain.
WELBECK MAKES IT THREE!! That's a goal made in Arsenal as Oxlade-Chamberlain charges down Battistini's clearance and brings the ball down brilliantly, holding off his man before playing it low to Welbeck who slots it past Simoncini at the near post.
48'
Lallana shows a good change of pace as he charges towards the left-hand side of the box before forcing a corner for England. Milner's delivery is cleared but England come back as it's played back to him out wide, and his first-time pass finds Wilshere in the area, but the Arsenal man's low cross is cut out by the goalkeeper.
47'
It's straight back into the same rhythm as England dominate the early possession. Oxlade-Chamberlain gets to the corner flag but his cross doesn't find a man before the hosts win a corner. They take it short but Wilshere's ball through is too hard and Simoncini gathers.
46'
A. Oxlade-Chamberlain enters the game and replaces J. Henderson.
A. Lallana enters the game and replaces R. Sterling.
We're back underway at Wembley as England get the ball rolling for the second half. Hodgson makes two changes at the break as Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain come on for Henderson and Sterling.
45'
England win a corner and Milner fires it in short and low before the ball comes back out to him, but the flag is up as the Manchester City midfielder is caught offside.
44'
That makes slightly more comfortable reading for Hodgson, although it's still been far from convincing tonight. The hosts wil be happy to take a two-goal lead into the break, though.
43'
A. Selva gets yellow.
Penalty goal scored by W. Rooney for England!
ROONEY FIRES IT IN!! It's a superb spot kick from Rooney, who hammers it into the top corner to bag his 42nd England goal and make it 2-0 to the hosts.
42'
GREAT SAVE SIMONCINI!! Wilshere is involved again as he moves across to the left before laying off to Gibbs. The full-back fires it in first time and Welbeck's effort is tipped over superbly by the goalkeeper.
PENALTY TO ENGLAND!! Seconds after Simoncini saves superbly from Welbeck, Selva fouls his opposite number as he goes for the ball in the box and his flailing leg catches Rooney in the face. It's a clear penalty and the England skipper will take...
41'
That's one to forget for Chambers, who takes on a defender with a stepover which goes all wrong and he knocks it out for a goalk kick to the visitors.
40'
Chambers does well to win the ball and sets England going forward. Wilshere then finds Rooney, who moves into the area before laying off to Sterling, whose shot at goal clatters Della Valle in the head but it has the desired effect as it goes clear.
39'
Good work from Wilshere out towards the left, and he then works the ball inside to Sterling, who looks to float it into the box for Welbeck. It's another poor delivery, though, and the ball skips behind for a goal kick.
38'
J. Milner gets yellow.
37'
We've had the first booking of the evening and it goes to Milner as he leaves a late foot in on Mateo Vitaoli. With their history of physical challenges, it's quite a surprise the first yellow hasn't gone to San Marino tonight.
36'
Another chance for England as Henderson drills it into the box. Wilshere is in front of the defender but the ball gets caught in his feet, then neither he nor Welbeck can get the ball under control and the chance goes begging.
35'
SAN MARINO HAVE A SHOT!! It's a rare spell inside the England half for the visitors, and Mateo Vitaoli cuts inside before hammering a long-range effort wide of Hart's near post. It was never troubling the goalkeeper, but at least they've had a go!
34'
ALMOST FOR CAHILL! After plenty of faffing around with the wall, the referee lets Milner take the free kick, and his inswinging cross causes real trouble for the goalkeeper, who misses his punch, but Cahill can't quite get on the end of it either.
32'
Gibbs plays it down the line to Sterling, who is quickly closed down by two defenders and loses out, but England come back and the Liverpool man draws a foul near the left-hand corner of the box.
30'
Well, England are ahead after half an hour but you would think they would have preferred to be further out of sight by now. The passing in the final third has been a little loose so far tonight, but there have been some good passages of link-up play, especially down the left.
29'
England are nearly in again as they advance towards the box before Wilshere looks for Rooney with a cheeky flick, but it's just behind his captain and San Marino get it away.
28'
HENDERSON SHOULD SCORE!! England carve through the defence on the left-hand side as Welbeck and Gibbs link up beautifully before he takes the goalkeeper out of the equation by laying off to Henderson. The midfielder hits it low first time at goal but it comes back out off a defender and the visitors survive.
27'
Wilshere is penalised for a foul in the air just outside the San Marino box - we've seen a lot of free kicks given for aerial challenges so far this evening.
26'
Well, the breakthrough has finally come, but will that open the floodgates? The hosts have been completely dominant yet unspectacular so far.
25'
P. Jagielka has scored a goal for England! Assist by J. Milner.
JAGIELKA OPENS THE SCORING!! After Sterling is denied with a curling shot, the resulting corner sees Milner swing it into the box and, as the goalkeeper slips while coming out to claim, Jagielka nods the ball into an empty net.
23'
Rooney charges to the line before laying off for the late run off Gibbs, whose floated cross doesn't find Welbeck and it's cleared before Milner is penalised as he tries to win it in the air.
22'
Welbeck drifts wide to pick up the ball beyond Brolli but Battistini is there as the striker cuts inside, and the Arsenal man ends up fouling the defender inside the box as he tries to win the ball back.
21'
Wilshere lifts a high ball into the box as Welbeck runs beyond the last defender, but Simoncini is off his line quickly and leaps up to pluck the cross out of the air. Good goalkeeping.
20'
Henderson looks for Rooney with a diagonal ball into the box but Della Valle is there to head it away. For all England's possession, they're not really finding their way through at the moment.
19'
Rooney clearly wants to try and get things going tonight as he picks the ball up outside the box and curls a low effort at goal, but it's straight at the goalkeeper and causes no problems. Meanwhile, Battistini is down after a challenge with Welbeck but he seems to be fine to carry on.
18'
Hart gets a rare touch as Tosi flicks the ball forward and Cahill nods back to his goalkeeper. It's a fleeting moment, though, as Henderson and Chambers advance down the right but the full-back runs into trouble on the edge of the box.
17'
Welbeck drops deep to collect the ball and he looks for the run of Rooney, but it's a poor pass which is easily cut out. Chambers then produces another loose pass as he moves forward - England have been a little sloppy in possession so far.
15'
Milner plays the ball low into Wilshere, who quickly lays off to Henderson and the midfielder plays a nice ball through the middle for Sterling, but the Liverpool forward is caught offside as he sees his low shot saved by Simoncini.
14'
Gibbs tries to push down the left-hand side and takes on Palazzi, who does really well to hold his ground and win the ball before winning a free kick off the Arsenal man.
13'
Milner plays the free kick in short to Wilshere, who flicks it up into the box but it doesn't quite come off. Welbeck battles to win it back but the visitors manage to get it out of the box and out for a throw.
12'
Milner spreads the ball out wide to Chambers, who plays inside to Henderson and the Liverpool man loses his footing then plays a poor pass, but England quickly get the ball back before Wilshere wins a free kick off Chiaruzzi.
10'
England are increasing the pressure, here, as Sterling plays it wide to Gibbs, whose cross doesn't find one of the four men inside the box and San Marino get it clear.
9'
Sterling looks to play the ball into the box but it's cleared upwards by Della Valle. Gibbs does well to bring it down and then force a corner, which sees San Marino awarded a free kick as Jagielka goes up for it at the far post, pushing down on a defender in the process.
8'
This could be a long evening for Hart in the England goal - he's the only player inside the England half at the moment, with the hosts dominating the ball and working it around as they look for a way through. Chambers finds Rooney, who flicks it up and tries a volley but it hits a defender and goes clear.
6'
WELBECK FIRES WIDE!! After Milner lays off to Rooney the striker's shot is easily parried away, but the hosts come back quickly and it's fired low into the box. Rooney steps over and Welbeck hammers a low shot which deflects off a team-mate and flies wide.
5'
England have a chance here, and it's because the goalkeeper has picked the ball up twice! It's an indirect free kick inside the box - not often you see that! Looks like Rooney will have a go...
4'
It's very quiet inside Wembley and there are a lot of empty seats around the stadium. An early goal would definitely liven things up, but it's San Marino who come forward as Selva loses out on a header in the box before fouling Cahill as he goes for a second cross.
3'
Henderson is penalised for a foul in the air and the visitors have a fleeting speel of possession before Battistini gives it away. The hosts move quickly into the opposing half and win a throw level with the edge of the box.
2'
Chiaruzzi sets the tone for San Marino early on, clattering into Sterling in midfield and England have a free kick as they quickly settle into possession.
1'
We're underway at Wembley as the visitors get the ball rolling for the first half.
Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of the Euro 2016 qualifier between England and San Marino at Wembley Stadium. This should be a simple victory for the hosts, but you never know…
The line-ups have been announced so let’s look at tonight’s teams, starting with Roy Hodgson’s men...
San Marino (5-4-1): Simoncini; Palazzi, F Vitaioli, Della Valle, Brolli, Battistini; Hirsch, Tosi, Chiaruzzi, M Vitaioli; Selva.
Hodgson makes four changes from the 2-0 win over Switzerland last month, with Calum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs as tonight’s full-backs, while Phil Jagielka also comes into the back four and James Milner is awarded a place in England’s midfield three.
San Marino subs: Benedettini, Cervellini, Stefanelli, Lorenzo Gasperoni, Golinucci, Buscarini, Alex Gasperoni, Valentini, Mazza, Muraccini.
The San Marino line-up features just one professional footballer with 10 part-timers from an array of professions. Veteran striker Andy Selva - who with eight goals for San Marino has more than anyone else - will be one cap away from equalling the all-time appearance record as he wears the shirt for the 67th time tonight.
The odds really aren’t in the visitors' favour - San Marino have not scored in a qualifier away from home since April 2001, and they conceded 13 goals in two matches against England in the qualifying stages of the last World Cup.
You could fit twice the population of San Marino inside Wembley stadium and still have plenty of room for more. Their last visit here saw Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney bag two goals each as the hosts won 5-0, and you can bet the two will be in the mood to score more tonight.
The players walk out of the tunnel to a pretty sparse Wembley Stadium. Those who have turned up should see plenty of goalmouth action this evening.
That's HALF TIME at Wembley and England have a 2-0 lead over San Marino thanks to Phil Jagielka's header and Wayne Rooney's penalty. It's not been a superb performance but they're doing the job and are ahead at the break.
Hodgson will have plenty to say at the break - England's passing in the final third has not been up to standard and they should have been able to create more clear-cut opportunities. They're winning, though, and that's the main thing.
Will we see a feast of goals after the break? Can Rooney close further in on the all-time record? Rejoin us when we get things back underway for the second half.
FULL TIME at Wembley and England end with a comfortable 5-0 victory over San Marino after goals from Phil Jagielka, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Andros Townsend - as well as an own goal - round off an easy night for Roy Hodgson's men as they keep their qualifying campaign on track.
It wasn't the most spectacular of performances, but the substitutes added some tempo after a fairly turgid first half. Jack Wilshere was instrumental in midfield and was the pick of England's midfielders.
Next up for England is a trip to Estonia, which they should expect to come home from with another victory. It's a case of 'job done' tonight with no major injuries picked up, and Hodgson will be satisfied. That's all from our LIVE coverage tonight - thanks for joining, and goodbye!
