Badu shoots for the third time this half. Badu misses for the third time this half!
90' +3
One more minute left in this Coppa Italia clash...
90' +2
Inter are showing urgency but unable to get anything from it. Udinese are looking more and more likely to cling on to their slim lead!
90'
Four minutes of stoppage-time to be played!
89'
Bruno Fernandes enters the game and replaces Maicosuel.
88'
Guarin should score! Milito floated a fine ball in to the back post but Guarin flings his leg at the ball and smashes it wide from seven yards out.
87'
Credit where credit is due: Udinese's defensive tactics have worked wonders. I'm not going as far as to applaud their hacking-of-legs style in the second half, but it's not letting them down!
85'
Time is really running out for Inter. They're on the brink of losing back-to-back games in 2014 - not the best way to start the new year!
83'
R. Palacio gets yellow.
Another yellow card, they're really racking up tonight! Palacio's the latest name to get a ticking off.
81'
R. Botta enters the game and replaces M. Kovačić.
Inter attack with real venom but, unfortunately for the visitors, Nagatomo is penalised for a handball 10 yards from goal.
Minute
Description
79'
It's end-to-end now at the Stadio Friuli, as both sides try to counterattack each other. The home fans are a little restless, obviously, as they're desperate for their side to keep hold of the lead.
76'
R. Pereyra enters the game and replaces N. López.
It's not just Udinese who didn't bring their shooting boots. Alvarez loops an awful effort sky-high over the woodwork from 16 yards or so out at the other end.
75'
Gabriel Silva is the latest in line to flash a miles-wide shot on Inter's goal.
73'
G. Pinzi gets yellow.
Bit of a hilarious moment, in my opinion. Pinzi gets a deserved yellow for flying in aerially at Campagnaro's body, but replays show his foot contacted the Inter midfielder's groin and not the face the former Napoli player was clutching for some reason!
71'
Not that the hosts look like they will imminently concede. They have definitely taken the backseat in this half for the most part, but Badu almost doubles the scoreline with a just-wide effort from 22 yards.
70'
Twenty minutes left on the clock of the 90. Udinese still lead 1-0, but can they hold on to the advantage? Or are we looking at extra time?
69'
Palacio is unlucky to be penalised for offside. He looks like he's bang-in-line with the Udinese defence.
66'
...Guarin shoots at the wall. At his own team-mate in the wall! And it trickles wide for an Udinese goal kick.
65'
Danilo gets yellow.
Danilo is deservedly yellow carded for yet another clumsy tackle from Udinese, who have a free kick 20 yards out. Guarin steps up...
63'
Greedy, Kovacic. Simply greedy. He has two players to his right running at goal 25 yards out and one team-mate to his left, but he instead shoots straight at the Udinese body in front of him. He swirls around trying to claim for handball but it's more so he saves face after making a poor decision, I think.
61'
R. Álvarez enters the game and replaces J. Zanetti.
Ricardo Alvarez is brought on for the more defensively-minded legs of Zanetti. Mazzarri's men still searching for that equaliser.
60'
Allan gets yellow.
Udinese midfielder Allan's the latest in an increasingly long line to go into the referee's book for a clumsy tackle.
58'
Speaking of Badu, the midfielder's left hanging his head with frustration after lashing well wide from an inviting position 20 yards out and unmarked.
57'
E. Agyemang-Badu gets yellow.
Badu goes into the book, now, for a poorly timed challenge.
56'
J. Carrizo gets yellow.
55'
Udinese should really score from the counterattack. Carrizo comes out of his goal to intercept the ball but completely fails to tackle Maicosuel, whose lobbed pass into the box is kicked unbelievably high over the bar from 12 yards by Pinzi.
54'
The visitors have kept up the pressing and intensity they showed late in the previous half. Appeals for an Inter penalty are waved away by the referee and jeered loudly by the home fans.
52'
Kuzmanovic, in particular, thinks he has the scent that his strike will rustle the net, but the midfielder's shot floats harmlessly into Kelava's arms.
51'
Badu heads clear Kuzmanovic's free kick but Inter remain camped in the hosts' half. They can smell a goal, it seems.
50'
A quickly-taken free kick by Palacio for Inter has brought about ear-wincingly loud whistles from Udinese fans around the ground. Those whistles swell even more when the Nerazzurri are awarded a free kick on the left wing, only 10 or 15 yards wide of the box.
49'
Inter look to have reverted to a 4-4-2 after an unsuccessful first half. Will it bring them any joy?
48'
Both sides are looking to bounce back from losing their first game of 2014. At this rate it's Udinese who will avoid losing two games consecutively, while Inter will be hanging their heads in shame.
46'
R. Palacio enters the game and replaces G. Mudingayi.
Inter boss Mazzarri has brought on striker Rodrigo Palacio for the ineffective Mudingayi in a bid to spice up his side's attack. We're back under way at the Stadio Friuli!
45' +1
Nothing comes from the one minute of stoppage-time and it's 1-0 to Udinese at the halfway stage! Maicosuel's goal midway through the first half separates the sides in the Coppa Italia last 16 clash but Inter have certainly shown more spark since conceding. The second half has been set up to look quite appetising!
45'
One minute of added time at the Stadio Friuli.
43'
For a relatively old bloke - and a defender at that - Samuel doesn't half get himself up the pitch a fair bit! He nearly wins a corner but by the time he reaches the ball on the Udinese byline it's already out of play.
41'
A tame shot is struck at Carrizo which he easily smothers. Inter can breathe a temporary sigh of relief.
40'
Very nearly a wince-worthy moment. Guarin gets a warning about a high foot clips Badu's head when the Udinese midfielder tips his head to ground (and inadvertantly Guarin's raised boot). Free kick to Udinese 35 yards from goal.
39'
Yuto Nagatomo has his turn at testing Udinese goalkeeper Ivan Kelava, but he fires straight at the hosts' shot-stopper.
37'
Wow, Inter twice go very, very close to equalising! Kuzamnovic loops an ambitious strike at goal and it cannons off the crossbar. Udinese do not clear sufficiently and Gaby Mudingayi lashes back towards goal, with his shot taking a deflection en route to just going outside the post.
36'
The Udinese fans are in great spirits now. They even applaud a rubbish, wayward pass from the centre of midfield which flies out anonymously. I don't know who it was meant for, the home supporters don't care.
35'
In other words, Udinese haven't just shuffled up the pitch with caution hoping to snatch something from a corner or free kick, like Inter have.
34'
Inter charge up the pitch in search of a swift reply, get a free kick, but waste the free kick. Udinese deserve their 1-0 lead, I think, having been considerably more adventurous in attack.
32'
Maicosuel has scored a goal for Udinese!
GOAL!! Maicosuel gets in front of Zanetti to tap in Nico Lopez's cross at the back post. Poor Inter defending after conceding possession in the final third but fine reactions from the Udinese attackers!
31'
Some comical sideline scuffling as Inter try to take a throw-in only for Udinese to throw a tantrum as the fourth official indicates it's a home throw-in. The referee eventually follows his fellow official's advise and the Nerazzurri reluctantly surrender the ball. A random aside.
29'
Giampiero Pinzi's down on the ground and have a good, old-fashioned roll. The crowd cry for Kovacic to get a second yellow to no avail. He gets medical treatment and on we plough...
28'
Fredy Guarin, linked with Chelsea, wasn't rested tonight as he's suspended for the weekend Serie A tie regardless. He's been at the heart of Inter's forays forward, though that's not exactly a compliment as those forays haven't been superb.
27'
Walter Samuel, who seems to have been knocking about at San Siro since the dawn of time, concedes a foul 35 yards from Inter's goal. Maicosuel swings it in...oh, close but no cigar! A delightful, teasing cross but Udinese can't get leg, head or other limb contact on the ball to score.
25'
Walter Mazzarri will be pleased with how he's players have (mostly) contained Udinese so far. Then again, I can't imagine he's thrilled with their blunt attacking.
24'
Still goalless as we pass the halfway point in the first half. No genuine, goalscoring chances to write home about, but I live in hope!
21'
M. Kovačić gets yellow.
Mateo Kovacic gets the first booking of the game for an innocuous challenge in the middle of the park. Some on-the-ground melodrama from Udinese defender Thomas Heurtaux sees him booked, though.
20'
Gabriel Silva does well to keep the ball in play despite intense pressure from Javier Zanetti. The ball's collected when both players go to ground and Maicosuel thrashes an awful shot miles wide of target from 20 yards out.
19'
The visitors smash the ball into the back of the net, but the whistle has been blown for a foul. On whom? It could be one of about five dodgy challenges from their third corner of the clash to be honest!
18'
Fredy Guarin steps up...and it's a sly pass instead of a shot, but Udinese read it well and Inter have to settle for a corner.
17'
The fourth foul of the match from the hosts sees Milito go to ground about 30 yards from goal, left-of-centre.
16'
Udinese are definitely looking stronger but the match is still in the balance and all to play for.
14'
Maicosuel leaves Inter defender Marco Andreolli in the dust with a great dribble in the left half of the visitors' area, but his cross fizzes across the face of goal as fellow Udinese players do not anticipate the chance.
12'
Zdravko Kuzmanovic strikes a corner into the 18-yard area but it's too deep to be dangerous.
11'
Diego Milito gets a few seconds on the ball but he cannot get the ball back to a fellow Inter team-mate. It's good to see the Argentine striker back in action, having just recently returned from a long spell out on the sidelines.
10'
Gabriel Silva in the heart of the action this time, curling an inviting cross in from the left wing. Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu gets his head on it but Carrizo parries it back at the Udinese player and it trickles out for an Inter goal kick.
8'
The corner's a bit of a mess but eventually a ball is whipped in from the byline inside the box but Lopez fails to rise high enough to get his head on it at the back post.
7'
Hugo Campagnaro rushes back to slide tackle an Udinese attacker and put the ball behind for a corner.
5'
Francesco Guidolin's men have been passing the ball about tentatively but finally they get a shot on goal. Nico Lopez lashes in a low, bobbling effort which drifts wide of the Juan Pablo Carrizo's left upright.
3'
The Stadio Friuli is extremely sparsely populated in places. The Udinese fans that are in attendance, though, are being as raucous as possible in the chilly conditions!
2'
Inter, seven-time winners of the Coppa Italia, will be keen to bounce back having lost their opening game of 2014 at Lazio at the weekend. No cup magic in the opening two minutes, unsurprisingly, as both teams settle into the tie.
1'
Referee Gianpaolo Calvarese blows his whistle and Inter get the cup game under way!
Hello and welcome to Goal's LIVE coverage of Udinese versus Inter! There's plenty at stake in the Coppa Italia tie, so be sure to stick around for match build-up and all of the details mid-game.
Goal chief Paul Macdonald tweeted: "Champions League aside, 2-legged cup ties just lack that certain something. Copa del Rey suffers in every aspect. No shocks, negativity, etc." Good news for those of you who agree with him: this is a one-legged wonder in Italy tonight!
This particular Coppa Italia clash is a round-of-16 game. The winner will go through to face either AC Milan or Spezia Calcio. In other words, if the Nerazzurri pull an away win out of the bag tonight we could very well have ourselves a tasty Derby della Madonnina in the quarter-finals!
One surprise in midweek was the news that Antonio Di Natale's decided to retire at the end of the season. The iconic Udinese frontman is on the bench tonight but, if things aren't looking rosy for the hosts, expect the veteran striker to be lacing up those boots later.
Before we delve deeper into the tie, let's have a look at the line-ups at the Stadio Friuli...
That's it, full-time! It finishes 1-0 to Udinese at home to Inter! The Zebrette will face either AC Milan or Spezia Calcio in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals thanks to Maicosuel's goal in the first half. All of the Nerazzurri's intensity counted for nothing in the end and they will regret not switching on until after Udinese broke the deadline.
