Lamela's free kick is flicked towards goal and is the last action of the match. The game ends 2-2 as Spurs twice let the lead slip and will have to settle for a point. Neither side will be thrilled about their defending but there was some superb individual quality from Adam Johnson in what may very well be a goal of the week candidate. Thank you for joining us here for this match!
90' +4
It's a poor free kick from Lamela and Sunderland race forward. Giaccherini slips and falls down before Kaboul plays a wild pass back to his goalie, forcing Lloris to wace before letting it go out for a corner. Brown slides into Lamela incredibly harshly and it's a booking for the former Manchester United defender.
90' +3
Jordi Gómez gets yellow.
Yet another free kick to Spurs as Lamela goes down after a rough challenge. This is further outside the box but his teammates are all forward, waiting to get on the end of it.
90' +2
Sunderland are furious with that decision as it seems Rose dived to win that free kick without being touched at all. Justice is done as Lamela skies his shot and the game remains tied.
90' +1
In the first of four minutes here and Cattermole wins the ball back before giving it away to Chiriches, who presses forward and passes it wide to Lamela. Rose goes down just outside the box and wins a free kick!
90'
C. Wickham gets yellow.
AND SUNDERLAND'S CHANCE GOES BEGGING! Buckley turns his body to get his foot on the ball for a shot after some fantastic work from Giaccherini. His shot looks good but loops over the bar! Seconds later, Wickham is booked for a challenge from behind on Rose.
89'
One minute plus stoppages here as Tottenham press forward but lose the ball far too easily. Sunderland smell blood now and look like they might just be able to win this one but time is not on their side.
88'
S. Vergini gets yellow.
87'
The game is becoming quite physical now as Poyet is madly barking out instructions on the sidelines. Vergini is getting a booking from the ref for shoving down Stambouli.
86'
A. Lennon enters the game and replaces C. Eriksen.
P. van Aanholt gets yellow.
Lennon comes on for Eriksen right after a booking on Sunderland for dissent and kicking away the ball after disagreeing with the referee's decision to award a free-kick to the Spurs.

Description
85'
Dier conceded yet another corner and Sunderland take it short. Johnson whips it into the box as Kaboul races to head it clear but the home side still have possession. Can they win the game in these remaining minutes?!
84'
Kaboul is forward and trying to play a cross in, but his ball hits Brown, before hitting himself and going out for a goal-kick. Nothing going right for Spurs at the moment!
83'
That's unfortunately a comedy of a goal to concede for the visitors, who manage to bundle it into the net with three defenders surrounding the lone attacker. The final touch may have just been off of Kane.
82'
H. Kane is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
SUNDERLAND TIIIEEEEE! 2-2!! Gomez makes an immediate impact as he's taken down by Capoue on the left side of the box, gifting a free kick to the home side. Gomez himself swings it into the box, and it deflects off of Chiriches into the back of the net!
81'
The corner is cleared once and then twice after being played in again, but Sunderland now are the ones pressing and look more likely to score the goal. Their effort today has been fantastic but they simply have not given themselves enough chances to score.
80'
Jordi Gómez enters the game and replaces J. Rodwell.
Giaccherini takes Dier on in the box to win a corner when the defender kicks the ball out. Johnson stands ready to take it.
79'
H. Kane enters the game and replaces E. Adebayor.
Brown's clearance ricochets off of Lamela and into the thankful arms of Mannone before the former Roma player could shoot. Adebayor, who looks quite tired, is off for Kane as Poyet sends on Gomez for Rodwell.
78'
Adebayor again has the ball in the box but still cannot get his shot off, as he tries to dribble an opening his way but falls over. The visitors continue to press here but there are some tired legs on show.
77'
Spurs take a corner short, with Lamela and Eriksen keeping the ball before playing it back to their defence. Chiriches looks for Dier down the flank but looses the ball before winning it back and charging forward. He gets it to Adebayor in the box but O'Shea stands firm and pokes the ball loose.
75'
LAMELA OFF THE CROSSBAR!!!! Ohhhh and that was VERY, VERY good from the Argentine, who showed persistence just when he was about to lose the ball to beat his man and send a shot in from just outside the box that absolutely had Mannone beat!
74'
Chiriches with a superb tackle on Wickham, sticking a leg in on the edge of the box to prevent the player from getting into a shooting position.
73'
Brown beats Adebayor to the ball and launches his side forward through Buckley. The latter tangles with Dier on the edge of the Spurs box and the free kick is awarded to the visitors, to the chagrin of the home fans.
71'
Spurs with the ball now about halfway in Sunderland's half, looking for a piercing through ball to send someone forward. Poyet's men have the channels closed well but Lamela plays Adebayor in quickly and Mannone races out to prevent the shot!
70'
B. Stambouli enters the game and replaces N. Chadli.
Chadli off for the debut of Stambouli as Pochettino looks to get some fresh legs on the pitch in an effort to counter the drive that Giaccherini has shown since coming on.
69'
Lamela ghots by one player and goes down as he collides with Cattermole on the edge of the box but nothing is called! In fairness, it looks as though Lamela ran into Cattermole rather than the other way around, but Pochettino is furious on the sidelines!
68'
And that's a SCREAMER of a shot from Johnson, who strikes from ten yards outside the box and watches his effort sail just wide of the far post!
67'
It's one dribble too many for Capoue, who tries to beat an extra man instead of taking a shot from a good central position. His wastefulness costs him the ball and Sunderland counter.
66'
There's just an extra spring here in the step of the home side, who aren't playing like theyr down a goal and short of confidence. Spurs are currently in possession but are having a tough time advancing it beyond their midfield.
65'
W. Buckley enters the game and replaces R. Álvarez.
E. Giaccherini enters the game and replaces S. Larsson.
Larsson, who has put in a superb shift today, goes off for Giaccherini and the new boy Alvarez is off for Buckley.
62'
Vergini does just enough to stop the ball from getting to Lamela in the box. The chances have evened out here as both sides look lively up top.
61'
E. Dier gets yellow.
A rare booking finally comes as Dier slides into the side of Alvarez and catches the on-loan winger on his shin without touching the ball. It's the first booking of the match and Dier can really have no complaints about it.
60'
Ooh and a chance from Wickham goes wide! He races down the right flank and whips a ball into the box that goes past Lloris and fails to reach any of his teammates! It was a delightful pass but to no one, ultimately.
58'
Another penalty shout! Dier goes down under a rough sliding challenge from Cattermole from behind but again, the referee does not blow his whistle. It looks as though Cattermole may have just knocked the ball before taking the full-back down but it was surely a debatable call!
57'
The fans at the stadium today are really growing into the match, applauding loudly every time their side completes a pass as they sense that there's more life to this yet. Adebayor drops very deep to get the ball but the spell of possession ends when Eriksen's shot from outside of the box is blocked.
55'
Chadli goes down on the counter, on the right edge of the box but outside of it, as Larsson takes the ball but no call is made. In truth he went down a little too easily there and the ref simply wasn't fooled. The visitors are struggling a little bit now to keep the ball.
54'
Odd corner from Sunderland who try something from the training ground that doesn't quite work out. From the corner, Larsson plays it vey wide to Johnson, near the edge of the box. Johnson tries to take two touches and shoot but fails to control the ball and has to lay it off deeper.
53'
A brief respite for Spurs as Rodwell has a high foot on Kaboul, who lunged with his head to clear the ball in the box. Free kick to Spurs.
52'
From the throw-in, the home side win a corner as Rose deflects a cross into the box. Johnson plays it high to the near post but Adebayor smacks it clear. Sunderland still have the ball in Spurs' half.
51'
Sunderland are looking lively now, trying to keep the ball deeper in their opponents' half, but are leaving Wickham too isolated to really do damage. Alvarez wins a throw-in in enemy territory.
49'
Sunderland once again behind and once again looking for an immediate answer. Wickham takes a shot that gets deflected out for a corner, that's played in by Larsson and cleared by Capoue.
48'
C. Eriksen has scored a goal for Tottenham Hotspur!
SPURS SCORE!!! The finish is scrappy -Eriksen poking it over the line from very close range after some confusion - but the buildup was beautiful, with Adebayor and Lamela exchanging passes as they raced forward. The final ball in from Chadli takes two deflections before landing at Eriksen, who rises from a prone position to get his toe on it and poke it in!
46'
And the second half is now underway! The effect of the locker room talks will be evident soon enough, with neither side surely looking to settle for a point here. The game is picking up from where it left off, with Spurs immediately deep in Sunderland's half. Adebayor's long cross nearly finds Chadli on the other side of the pitch but Mannone collects.
45' +2
Dier throws his arms all over Larsson and the referee awards yet another free kick to the home side. It turns out to be the last meaningful action of the half as the whistle is blown and the teams march into the locker room tied, 1-1.
45' +1
Fantastic persistence from Chadli in the box who refused to give up on the ball in the box. He played it to Eriksen, continued his run, and tried to receive the return ball but lost out at the last second.
44'
Free kick to the home side as Rodwell goes down about five yards from the box under a challenge from Dembele.
42'
IS THAT A HAND BALL? Lamela tries to play it through to Adebayor in the box but it looks as though the ball his O'Shea's hand and bounces away. The referee doesn't make a call and it looked as though it hit his torso instead of his arm.
41'
Lamela tries to work the ball into Chadli on the edge of the box but the pass is played just behind him. The Argentine has been lively today but Pochettino will want him to work on his passing in the final third.
39'
Kaboul is down holding his back after rolling over Wickham while going up for the ball. With not long left until half-time, Pochettino has to make a decision here about a substitute, but it seems likely that he'll see if Kaboul can carry on at least until the break.
38'
DEMBELE OFF THE BAR! The midfielder sees Mannone too far to his left and rips a shot towards the top righ corner that absolutely thhumps off the crossbar and bounces off! That's surely a wake-up call to the keeper!!
37'
Sunderland want a penalty! Wickham goes down in the box after Rose comes in from behind to strip him of the ball in the box, but it looks as though Rose plays the ball fairly and no call is made.
36'
Lamela tries a pass over the top for his teammate, but it's overhit and Mannone intercepts it before Adebayor can get onto it. Spurs are trying new ways here to breach the defence but the game is much different now than it was in the opening spell when Sunderland's backline was chaotic.
35'
Nevertheless, after the free kick, it's business as usual for Spurs. Sunderland are totally pinned back in their box and simply cannot find a way to get the ball - but in fairness to them, are restricting Spurs from taking any shots.
33'
This is a fantastic spell of possession from the visitors, who even have Ricky Alvarez back on defence to try and contain Dier and Lamela. It's the Sunderland man who collides with Capoue and goes down, winning a free kick.
31'
Cattermole easily intercepts a poor pass from Lamela. The Argentine is all over the pitch today, swapping flanks as needed but to diminishing effect right now.
29'
Immense pressure from Tottenham right now, as the visitors win yet another corner. Lamela swings it in this time instead of Eriksen but it's cleared centrally, only for the visitors to win it back.
27'
Spurs are taking their free kicks quickly, as Lamela is fouled and one is awarded before being taken almost immediately. It's clear that the visitors want to use their creativity to pull players out of position and then pounce with a shot.
26'
Some silky moves from Lamela leads a counter down the pitch, which results in a corner when Chadli's cross is poked out. Rodwell heads it up and Mannone collides with Kaboul as he reaches for it. Free-kick to the home side with neither player looking worse for the wear.
25'
A bit of a half-chance for Spurs, as Dier has possession centrally near the box and tries to play it in for Rose, but there's a sea of bodies in front of him and the pass is deflected out.
23'
Larsson catches Rose's foot off a poor tackle and thus gives away a free-kick to the visitors. Spurs are working the ball deep in Sunderland's half as the home side's pressing is not giving them much time on the ball.
22'
The two sides are trading possession in the middle but failing to make inroads with the ball. The defences seem to have figured out how to contain each other's offence - at least for the moment - as chances are becoming increasingly speculative.
20'
A poor clearance from Chiriches gifts the ball to Rodwell, but luckily for the defender, the midfielder plauys a poor pass that is intercepted. The tempo of this game has settled.
19'
Larsson whips the ball into the box and Adebayor rises high to head it away. Sunderland are starting to control the match more, doing well to stop losing possession so easily.
18'
The difference in possession thus far is staggering, with Tottenham holding over 70%! Nevertheless, Poyet's men now have a corner after Kaboul is forced to play a dangerous pass out of the box.
17'
Sunderland have a shot blocked in the box as Wickham can't turn around quickly enough and Rose falls over before he can take his own shot moments later. Dier and Adebayor both tackle Johnson and a free-kick is awarded to the home side.
15'
Another fantastic passing sequence from the visitors, involving Lamela on a quick turn and a fast pass from Eriksen. Pochettino's men are getting the ball down the byline and into the box but are having trouble converting that meaningful possession into truly meaningful chances.
14'
A very well worked team move from the visitors ends as Rose goes goes in the box easily, and Larsson is asking for his opponent to be cautioned for diving but the referee is having none of it. No call is awarded and Mannone takes a goal kick.
13'
Alvarez's first real involvement is to keep the ball high down the right flank for his side, but shortly thereafter, Sunderland lose possession anyway. The visitors are playing like the home side, ferocious in their attacks and gripping in their possession.
11'
Mannone races to heave clear a ball played in towards Adebayor, poking it down the field to give his defence a chance to regroup. The striker has been immensely influential thus far.
10'
Chadli does well to wrap his foot around the ball and pry it off of the home side without committing a foul. The past few minutes have all been down the home side's left channel, giving Dier quite a bit of work to do at the moment.
9'
Wickham is fouled by Kaboul, giving both sides a much needed break in the middle of the pitch. Sunderland look to build from the back as Johnson races down the byline, but Dier covers his well and manages to clear.
7'
From the ensuing corner, the ball lands at Kaboul who sticks a leg at it but finds his shot blocked! Absolutely breathless, this match, with neither midfield anywhere to be seen.
6'
AND NEARLY A SECOND FOR SPURS! Eriksen lifts a peach of a ball over to Adebayor after the give-and-go; he gets to it, onside, and fires straight at Mannone for a corner!
5'
Wickham gets down the byline and crosses well but Totenham's defence clears. Straight away the ball gets to the other box and Mannone is forced into a diving save! The tempo of this game is purely outrageous at the moment!
4'
A. Johnson has scored a goal for Sunderland! Assist by S. Larsson.
AND WHAT A RESPONSE!!!! SUNDERLAND EQUALIZE IMMEDIATELY! That was ALL Adam Johnson in the box, who dribbles and jinxes his way through the defence after picking up the ball wide. The shot takes the slightest of deflections off Kaboul which sees the ball dribble past Lloris and into the net! 1-1!!
2'
N. Chadli has scored a goal for Tottenham Hotspur!
GOOALLL CHADLI! WHAT A START FOR TOTTENHAM! Dembele picks up the ball in the midfield and ushers it forward. Adebayor gets the ball central and drills a powerful shot to Mannone. The former Arsenal keeper parries it to his right - directly into the path of Chadli who slots it into the far post!
1'
AND WE HAVE KICK-OFF! The visitors, in their yellow aaway kit, immediately press forward, with Eriksen looking for Adebayor. They play it back and wide, keeping the home side pinned back. Eriksen plays a smart ball on the edge of the box to Rose, who shoots and forces Mannone into a save almost immediately!
Hello and welcome to our pre-match coverage of Sunderland vs Tottenham! It's match-day 4 of the Premier League, coming off an international break that both of these sides may have welcomed, having suffered defeats against Queens Park Rangers and Liverpool, respectively.
Before those defeats however, both sides have had matches they could be proud about. The visitors had a flying start to the season, winning 4 matches between the league and the Europa League, before the 3-0 loss to Liverpool at home. Sunderland have not been quite as good but still managed to draw Manchester United and defeat Birmingham in the League Cup.
Gus Poyet's side has become a bit more interesting in recent weeks, having taken Sebastian Coates on loan from Liverpool in an effort to keep out the goals at the back and bringing in Ricky Alvarez on loan from Inter to provide a spark of creativity up front.
What's on the line here today? With so few points available yet this season, either side could rocket up the table with a win. The home team could go from 13th up to 7th, even above Arsenal, should they manage all three points. For Spurs, it's a chance to get themselves in the top 3, and could even go top should they win by a five goal margin.
Not many injuries tonight, with Spurs missing out on Roberto Soldado and Kyle Walker. Otherwise, both coaches have a full team at their disposal, with Ricky Alvarez immediately slotting in for the home side and the red-hot Erik Lamela looking to play from the first minute as well.
Recent history between these two sides heavily favours the visitors. In the last 8 matches, Tottenham have won 6 and drew 2, and Spurs scored more against Sunderland last season than any other other side with 7. Poyet's men have won only 3 of their last 14 games at home.
Both teams are walking out of the tunnel and we're just minutes away from kick off now!
The half began relentlessly, with Chadli pouncing on a clearance and Johnson responding moments later with a superb solo goal to give us two goals in the opening four minutes. The game settled not too long after that, with chances much harder to come by.
For the second half, Spurs will need to convert their possession deep in Sunderland's territory into actual shots, which they began the game doing well enough but eventually became hesitant to do. Sunderland, meanwhile, just need more possession period and have to hope that they can turn momentum around to create a few chances of their own.
And that's a wrap! The 2-2 draw helps both sides ensure a point, which may have been fair on the balance of the match. Both sides will rue their chances - Tottenham especially after Lamela's late effort hit the crossbar - but some unlucky defending ended up costing both sides.
