Trickovski cuts in and his shot fires off of Steven Taylor and out for a corner. Dangerous for Newcastle, and Harper high-fives Taylor in a way that suggest the touch was necessary.
85'
Lestienne - Brugge's best attacking player tonight - chips a cute cross in which just evades Bacca, and the ball rolls harmlessly wide.
84'
T. Van Acker enters the game and replaces J. Blondel.
83'
G. Bigirimana gets yellow.
82'
Newcastle might just hold out here tonight, more because Brugge look toothless going forward than anything else.
81'
Y. Cabaye enters the game and replaces S. Ferguson.
77'
Papiss Cisse doesn't look like he's particularly enjoying himself tonight; it's been a frustrating evening for him. Before half-time he seemed destined to score, but he's barely had a kick since.
76'
V. Odjidja-Ofoe gets yellow.

Description
73'
F. Coloccini enters the game and replaces S. Ameobi.
72'
Defensive minded change from Pardew, who replaces Sammy Ameobi with Fabricio Coloccini. The youngster can be pleased with his performance tonight, with his dribbling being a real highlight for the fans. He said on Twitter before the game that he meant business, and he's impressed at St James' Park.
71'
Newcastle keeping the ball well here for the first time all half really. On the touchline, captain Coloccini's entrance to the field is imminent.
67'
Ferguson's usual quality on his left-foot deserts him, as he fires way over the bar.
66'
Shola Ameobi eases the pressure on Newcastle, and wins a free-kick in a shooting position for Ferguson.
65'
Brugge have suddenly got their tails up and the home side must be careful. If you had to call someone to score the next goal, it looks like it could well be the visitors.
62'
Carlos Bacca has just missed a sitter for Brugge. The away side break again, and Lestienne's inviting cross reaches Bacca at the back-post. All on his own, he heads the ball into the floor and bounces up and over the bar. Newcastle got very lucky there, and need to get more of a grip on this match.
61'
Good ball into the Newcastle box from Lestienne, but Harper gathers. The home side break, and Obertan wins a corner.
60'
C. Tioté gets yellow.
Cheik Tiote has just been handed his standard caution - his 30th booking in his 60th Newcastle game, according to ESPN.
58'
In fact, it's been Brugge who have wandered forward more than the Magpies since the goal, with Bacca and the substitute Trickovski both taking shots. The Belgian side lack a cutting edge though, it has to be said.
55'
I. Trichkovski enters the game and replaces L. Refaelov.
Newcastle haven't really done much attacking since the goal, but it'd be surprising if they didn't create more chances. Shola Ameobi is yet to be involved much since his half-time introduction though.
51'
Refaelov threatens for the visitors. He twists and turns James Perch before forcing Harper into a smart stop down to his left.
49'
J. Blondel gets yellow.
48'
G. Obertan has scored a goal for Newcastle United! Assist by S. Ameobi.
Brilliant yet again from Sammy Ameobi, with great skill in midfield. He flicks the ball over a Brugge player before feeding the ball out wide, to Obertan. His first touch is a tad heavy, but his second is a powerful strike into the far corner. 1-0 to Newcastle.
It really is no surprise Sammy Ameobi made that goal; he's been the home side's biggest creative force so far tonight.
46'
Shola Ameobi enters the game and replaces V. Anita.
45'
Half-time here, no stoppage time played at all.
Yep, Ameobi on for Anita then as Brugge get us back underway. Pardew must've decided he wants another body in the box for when Ferguson's crosses arrive.
Sammy Ameobi wins an early corner, and I've just realised how confusing it's going to become with both brothers now on the field. I'll be full-naming from now on.
44'
Cisse forces the Brugge keeper into a smart save after Ferguson and Obertan combine nicely down the left.
42'
Cisse has another crack, this time from distance. If it had gone in, it would've rivalled his effort against Chelsea from last season.
41'
Tiote picks out Cisse with a lovely ball, and although his first and second touches are good, his third is a sliced left-footed effort which sails over. Unlucky.
38'
Ferguson's corner is met by Cisse, but the Senegal striker powers his header over.
36'
Both teams struggling to create much here in truth. Crosses are being whipped into both boxes, but no real chances are come to light.
33'
Tiote is sloppy in possession again, presenting the ball to Lestienne. The winger rushes his shot, when he really could've taken on Steven Taylor.
30'
Ameobi breaks down the right, shows quick feet and shoots with his left-foot from just outside the box. It's a good effort but it drags wide of the post. Positive forward play though.
29'
We're still goalless here, but Bordeaux have taken the lead against Maritimo in the other game in this group.
27'
The home fans are unusually subdued this evening, as the travelling Belgians sing their hearts out from up in the Gods. A goal would help change the atmosphere.
25'
Though Newcastle are on top, Brugge look like they could create chances on the break tonight.
24'
Ameboi showing some more delightful touches having switched over to the right, and he wins a free-kick in a good position out wide.
20'
Carlos Bacca is down injured. The striker nearly picks the pocket of Tiote but goes down after the Newcastle midfielder just wins the ball. If the Brugge man had nicked it, he'd have been through on goal.
19'
Tiote and Ameobi combine to win the ball in midfield, but Anita drags a shot well wide.
17'
Confusion in the Newcastle box! Hogli delivers from the right and some pinball style deflections see the ball go out for a corner, which Harper claims at the second time of asking.
16'
Ameobi has a dig from long-range, but it's easy for the keeper.
14'
If Ferguson carries on putting balls like that into the box, the Magpies will surely get more chances tonight.
13'
Peach of a ball in from Shane Ferguson finds Cisse, but his downward header is saved by the reactions of Jorgacevic. Not convinced the keeper knew much about it though, and Newcastle should really be 1-0 up.
12'
Early signs suggest Sammy Ameobi is a rather different player to his older brother. Whilst Shola loves the hustle and bustle, Sammy has a delicate touch and loves to take players on.
10'
Alan Pardew really thought his side had a case for a spot-kick there, and is pretty animated on the touchline.
9'
Sammy Ameobi shows a neat bit of skill and floats in a cross from the left. Cisse go down under what looks like a shove, but the referee says no. Seen them given.
7'
Shane Ferguson has whipped the ball in from the left, but it evades Cisse - the only Newcastle player in the box - and it rolls out for a goal-kick. Not the sharpest of starts from the home side tonight.
4'
Four minutes in and Newcastle yet to really do anything of note yet, with Lestienne's effort the only sniff of goal we've had so far.
2'
They've had the first shot here though, as Lestienne takes a pop from wide out on the left. Harper parries the ball, before catching with ease.
1'
Right, the Toon Army get us underway then, kicking from right-to-left as we see on TV, and wearing a high-visibility style yellow for some reason!!
Club Brugge have never won in England by the way, drawing two and losing eight of their games in this country to date.
Good evening ladies and gentleman, and welcome to Goal.com's live coverage of tonight's Europa League Group D tie between Newcastle United and Club Brugge.
Apparently, the stadium announcer St. James' Park has just warned the Magpies fans they are in danger of being drowned out by their Belgian counterparts this evening. Brugge have brought a fantastic travelling support of around 2000 - not bad for a Europa League tie on a wet and windy evening on Tyneside!!
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has made a whopping nine changes from the weekend's clash with rivals Sunderland, and his side will line-up in a 4-3-3 formation: Harper; Santon, S. Taylor (c), Perch, Ferguson; Bigirimana, Tiote, Anita; Obertan, Cisse, Sammy Ameobi
The Newcastle bench is extremely strong tonight too: Krul, Coloccini, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Campbell, Shola Ameobi, Ba
Brugge subs: Kujovic, Vansteenkiste, Engels, Vazquez, van Acker, Trickovski, Vleminckx
Newcastle youngster Sammy Ameobi has tweeted his delight at starting tonight, saying he's 'been waiting a long time for a chance like this...' Expect him to be play like he's trying to impress tonight.
For the visitors, striker Carlos Bacca is the man to watch; he has 12 goals to his name already this season, in all competitions.
My name is Joe McPhee, follow me or tweet me with your thoughts on the game tonight @Joe_McPhee9
Brugge are lining-up in a 4-3-3 as well: Jorgacevic; Hogli, Hoefkens (c), Jordi, Buysse; Odjidja, Blondel, Jorgensen; Refaelov, Bacca, Lestienne
So after a sluggish start, the home side finally got going here. Papiss Cisse has tried his luck five or six times with no luck as yet, his closest effort being saved well by the reflexes of Jorgacevic.
Sammy Ameobi looks a threat every time the ball comes to his feet, and he is not shy to take on a man or three as he tries to create something for Cisse to get on the end of. Shane Ferguson, on the left, also looks dangerous - especially when crossing.
Brugge haven't really tested Steve Harper too much really, with Lestienne down the left looking their biggest threat.
So 0-0 here, and 1-1 in the group's other game. Newcastle won't be too disheartened just yet.
Hearing Shola Ameobi is coming on for Vurnon Anita in the second half, and will confirm asap.
Gabriel Obertan's 47th minute strike wins the game for Newcastle, who sit atop Group D with seven points from three matches so far.
This really is a case of job done for Alan Pardew's side, who didn't have to be at their best to brush aside a poor Brugge outfit.
Newcastle's brightest element was the impact of Sammy Ameobi, who displayed some lovely touches on the wing and then through the middle, to create the game's only goal.
With Bordeaux and Maritimo drawing 1-1 in the Group's other game, Newcastle are three points clear at the top, and will qualify for the next round if they beat Brugge in the return of this fixture in Matchday Four.
Thanks for joining the Goal.com live coverage tonight, we'll see you next time.
