Porto refuse to budge on Mangala fee

25 June 2013 18:03

Porto president Pinto Da Costa has insisted the club will not accept anything less than the full asking price for defender Eliaquim Mangala.

The highly rated centre-back is reportedly a target for Premier League side Chelsea, but they and other potential suitors will be expected to meet his reported €50 million release clause.

And Da Costa has reiterated that fact ahead of the transfer window reopening on July 1.

He told A Bola: "This footballer only leaves our club if someone pays the release clause."

Mangala was signed by the Portuguese club from Standard Liege in August 2011 for just €6.5m.

He made 39 appearances last season for the eventual Primeira Liga champions, scoring seven goals in the process.

The 22-year-old was raised in Belgium but accepted a first call-up from France, the country of his birth, ahead of being capped in a 1-0 defeat to Uruguay in June.
