Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the LaLiga clash between Barcelona and Valencia at Camp Nou.
Barcelona begin the evening sitting in ninth place in the table and on the back of successive defeats to Benfica and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and LaLiga respectively. The pressure on Ronald Koeman is reaching breaking point, although the club have insisted that he has their full confidence. However, a victory tonight is a must for the Catalan club and the Dutchman to ease the tension around Camp Nou.
Valencia also require an upturn in form after failing to win their last four matches in LaLiga. José Bordalas' men made a bright start to the campaign, but have faded after surrendering a late comeback to Real Madrid last month. They have an opportunity tonight to put the pressure on the Catalan club. Valencia can play on the nerves of the Barca players, but will have to remain composed themselves.
BARCELONA (4-3-3): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Sergi Roberto, Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia, Jordi Alba; Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Gavi, Sergino Dest, Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati.
BARCELONA SUBS: Riqui Puig, Yusuf Demir, Neto, Philippe Coutinho, Clement Lenglet, Luuk de Jong, Sergio Aguero, Oscar Mingueza, Samuel Umtiti, Inaki Pena, Nicolas Gonzalez, Alejandro Balde.
VALENCIA (4-4-2): Jasper Cillessen; Dimitri Foulquier, Gabriel Paulista, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jose Gaya; Carlos Soler, Daniel Wass, Hugo Guillamon, Hugo Duro, Goncalo Guedes, Maxi Gomez.
Ronald Koeman's team were up against it after Gaya scored a stunner in the early stages of the game. It would have been easy for them to fold under pressure. Fati has been instrumental in their rally, curling home a fine effort before drawing the mistake from Gaya to earn the penalty. There's still work ahead for Barca, but they've have been up for the battle tonight.
Barcelona are next in action on Wednesday at home to Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League. Valencia face Real Mallorca in their next outing on home soil next Saturday.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
