We're underway in the DFB-Pokal final.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the DFB-Pokal final between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich at the Olympiastadion.
Leverkusen are aiming to win the competition for the second time in their history. They've finished as runners-up on two occasions - the last of which was in 2009, losing out to Werder Bremen in the final. Peter Bosz's men produced a strong run of form run to reach the DFB-Pokal final, including a 3-0 triumph over Saarbrucken in the semi-finals. However, it will be a major challenge to topple the holders this evening.
Bayern are on a downright imperious run of form, winning their last 16 matches on the bounce in all competitions. It allowed them to claim the Bundesliga crown with ease for the eighth year in a row and now they will turn their attention to secure their 20th DFB-Pokal win, and second in a row. Robert Lewandowski's strike downed Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-finals and you would not put it past him notching another tonight.
BAYER LEVERKUSEN (4-2-3-1): Lukas Hradecky; Lars Bender, Sven Bender, Edmond Tapsoba, Wendell; Charles Aranguiz, Julian Baumgartlinger; Moussa Diaby, Nadiem Amiri, Leon Bailey; Kai Havertz.
BAYER LEVERKUSEN SUBS: Jonathan Tah, Aleksandar Dragovic, Kerem Demirbay, Lucas Alario, Mitchell Weisser, Florian Wirtz, Ramazan Ozcan, Kevin Volland, Karim Bellarabi.
BAYERN MUNICH (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; Benjamin Pavard, Jerome Boateng, David Alaba, Alphonso Davies; Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman; Robert Lewandowski.
BAYERN MUNICH SUBS: Alvaro Odriozola, Niklas Sule, Thiago Alcantara, Philippe Coutinho, Michael Cuisance, Ivan Perisic, Lucas Hernandez, Sven Ulreich, Joshua Zirkzee.
Kai Havertz has not been able to break into the game at all in the first half. He has been starved of service and his frustration has gotten the better of him. Peter Bosz has to work some magic at the interval to supply his top marksman in the final third.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Bayern will next be in action in the Champions League when the competition returns in August. Likewise Bayer Leverkusen will resume their Europa League campaign in August.
