O'Dowda has made a difference for Ireland since coming on at half-time, using his pace to stretch the Swiss defence and is playing more direct.

43'
There are just a few minutes left until the break now, can Ireland get back into the game before the half-time whistle?
39'
Lichensteiner is a constant threat down the right-wing, he is almost playing as an out and out winger at times, constantly getting forward and making Connolly or McClean track back.
36'
There are just over 3,000 Ireland supporters in the stadium tonight and they are certainly making their voices heard, trying to push their side forward, as they continue to sit deep and soak up Swiss pressure.
34'
A. Browne gets yellow.
Another yellow card is shown, this time it is to Browne after his aerial clash with Lichensteiner. It appears to be a harsh booking by the referee as there isn't an awful lot of contact between the two players.
32'
G. Xhaka gets yellow.
S. Coleman gets yellow.
Coleman is also booked for his part in the coming together with Xhaka. A silly booking for both players to pick up.
Xhaka is booked after clashing with Coleman after blocking the Ireland skipper as he looked to break out from the back. The right-back didn't like the challenge and the two squared up off the ball.

Embolo goes down under pressure from Hendrick, after the winger sprints past the Ireland midfielder. However, Xhaka's set piece delivery into the penalty area is well defended.
22'
There have been too many sloppy passes by Ireland so far, they just can't string more than a couple of passes together in midfield and are currently camped inside their own half, soaking up the Swiss pressure.
20'
The Swiss have an opportunity from a corner, but the set piece delivery is poor and is picked up by Rodriguez, who crosses into the box and Seferovic meets it, but his header flies over the bar.
18'

GOOOAAALLL! Switzerland take the lead, it's 1-0! Seferovic with a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area to put the hosts ahead. Mehmedi lays the ball off to the striker, who finds an inch of space and drills the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the net, out of the reach of Randolph.
Akanji wins the initial header over Whelan and flicks it into the path of Mehmedi, who plays a quick pass to Seferovic, who produces a wonderful finish.
14'
Ireland appear to be playing a five at the back, with Coleman and McClean playing as the wing-backs and Whelan is sitting just in front of the backline as a protector.
12'
Excellent overlap by Stephens down the left-wing and he received the ball deep inside the Swiss half by McClean, but his cross into the box is blocked and goes out for the first Ireland corner of the game. However, the set piece delivery is too deep and Hendrick's header flies well wide of goal.
9'
There have been a few long balls forward by Ireland so far and Connolly and Collins have been unable to hold it up and bring in other players. The Swiss look the better team in the early stages.
5'
The hosts are enjoying the early possession here, but Ireland are pressing high and not allowing them time and space on the ball. The playing surface may play a part, as it's a very greasy and uneven playing field now.
3'
Switzerland win a free-kick in a good position after Lichensteiner goes down after getting an arm in the face by McClean. Xhaka opts to drill it into the box, but the Ireland wall do their job and clear the danger.
2'
The pitch isn't in the best condition tonight after some heavy rainfall earlier today and we had a pitch inspection before the game. However, the officials were happy with the surface.
