Croatia haven't given up yet as Rakitic lines up a piledriver from distance, but it's blocked. Wales will take that with just a few minutes to go.
The yellow cards aren't over yet either, with James booked for a robust aerial duel with Vida.
90' +4
Bale's limping, but Wales have used all three of their substitutes so he can't come off! He's very much a passenger at this late stage.
90' +3
Wales with a chance to attack, Allen trying to pick out Wilson with a lofted throughball, but it's too close to Livakovic and he comes to the edge of his box to collect.
90' +1
We're into eight minutes of added time! Is there another chance for someone to grab a winner?
90'
M. Badelj enters the game and replaces L. Modrić.
He won't need the stretcher, but Modric's game is over and he comes off for Badelj.
89'
L. Modrić gets yellow.
Modric is the latest to be shown a yellow card for absolutely taking out Wilson during that passage of play.
88'
Lovely touch from Wilson to take himself past his marker, on to Connor Roberts, but his cutback doesn't reach James who's waiting for it in the box!
86'
J. Allen gets yellow.
T. Roberts enters the game and replaces K. Moore.
Moore put in a real shift up front, but it's his time to come off, replaced by Tyler Roberts.
And another yellow card! It's Allen kicking out at Brekalo to stop a counter-attack - he'll miss Wales' next game against Azerbaijan.
85'
I. Rakitić gets yellow.
Another strong challenge and another booking, this time Rakitic shown a yellow card for fouling Wilson.
Minute
Description
83'
Here's a chance to break now for Wales, James surging forward on the right. He tries to get beyond Jedvaj, but the cross is poor and goes out for a goal-kick.
78'
Wales have a chance to counter here through Wilson, but Vlasic cuts it out by committing a foul and Wales are given a free-kick inside their own half.
76'
Moore with a great take on his chest to cushion a long Hennessey pass into Allen, but the midfielder overhits the next ball and the move breaks down. Moore's been such a force up front today and has given Lovren and Vida real problems.
74'
Bale's trying to take the game to Croatia by himself, carrying the ball from right to left looking for the perfect moment to shoot - but when he does, it takes a deflection off a team-mate and goes wide for a goal-kick.
72'
NOT BAD! Nice move from Croatia to create this opportunity, Perisic knocking a cross down to Vlasic for a lay-off into Jedvaj - and the right-back tries to whip one into the top-left corner with the outside of his boot, but it sails slightly wide.
68'
H. Wilson enters the game and replaces J. Williams.
Giggs turns to his bench, bringing on Wilson for Williams.
67'
Wales are on the front foot for the moment, Roberts doing well to find a pass inside and work the ball across to James. He plays it back the other way to Allen, but he's forced into a mistake and Wales end up giving away a free-kick.
65'
Rebic involved immediately with a tidy throughball into Perisic and the winger fires a cutback into a great area at the edge of the six-yard box, but there's nobody there to get on the end of it!
64'
A. Rebić enters the game and replaces B. Petković.
Another change for Croatia as Petkovic comes off for Rebic.
63'
Modric delivers, but Moore is at the near post and heads it away.
62'
Croatia now bringing the ball forwards, Jedvaj linking with Vlasic on the right flank. They win a corner out of it - what can they do from this?
61'
Wales are on the attack again, Bale nutmegging Rakitic to get near the box - and he continues his run with some superb footwork, but stumbles just as looks to have an opportunity to shoot!
59'
There's an interesting situation brewing here. Both Lovren and Vida are on yellow cards so they have to be careful, but they're faced by James on the left and Bale on the right, two tricky, speedy wingers capable of cutting inside and finishing. Wales need to get the ball to their two danger men and encourage them to run directly at the centre-backs.
57'
K. Moore gets yellow.
Tempers are flaring a little and Moore is the next to go into the book, clashing with Lovren and catching his head with a high boot.
55'
What can Wales do here? It's Allen, with a pass into Williams. He turns and tries to pick out a throughball, but Modric is back to get a foot in.
53'
Here's Bale cutting inside and trying to link up with Moore, but Moore's brought down by Vida as he receives the ball and there's no whistle!
52'
Wales were gaining in momentum just before the break and capped it off with Bale's goal, but the interval as well as the delay for Ampadu's injury has really zapped the life from their performance.
50'
J. Morrell enters the game and replaces E. Ampadu.
Ampadu isn't able to continue, so Giggs brings him off for Morrell - he only made his competitve debut off the bench last time out against Slovakia.
46'
B. Petković gets yellow.
I. Rakitić enters the game and replaces M. Kovačić.
Dalic makes a half-time change, replacing Kovacic with Rakitic. Chelsea midfielder Kovacic was injured in the build-up to Bale's goal and this was the issue that Lovren thought should have been deemed a foul - and he let the referee know!
Early drama here as Petkovic clashes with Ampadu in the air and is shown a yellow card. There's a break in play as well as Ampadu recovers.
KICK-OFF! Wales restart the action!
45' +7
HALF-TIME: WALES 1-1 CROATIA.
45' +5
Was there a foul in the build-up to the Bale goal? It looks like Davies runs through the back of Kovacic as he latches on to Bale's lay-off, but the referee didn't think anything of it at the time and there's no VAR in these games.
45' +4
D. Lovren gets yellow.
Lovren is shown a yellow card in the aftermath of Bale's equaliser for complaining to the referee - he'll miss Croatia's next qualifier.
45' +3
G. Bale has scored a goal for Wales! Assist by B. Davies.
GOAAAAL! BALE SCORES! What a moment just before half-time! It starts with an excellent Davies run, a ball into Bale, a lay-off back to Davies with the left-back then picking out Bale again with a superb throughball - his touches take him past Lovren and what a great finish, low into the far corner! Just the lift they needed!
Absolutely fantastic play from Davies not just initially with the pass into Bale to hold the ball up, but to continue his run, finish the one-two and then pick out Bale again with the throughball. Brilliant chemistry between the pair here!
45' +2
Rodon hits a speculative long pass forward towards Bale and he manages to win the knockdown for Williams to run onto - it almost looks as though he'll get past Lovren, but the Liverpool centre-back doesn't let him through.
45'
We're into four minutes of added time at the end of the first half due to the stoppage from James' injury worry. Is there a chance in this for Wales before half-time?
43'
Here's Lovren wide to Perisic, back to Lovren - Croatia completely unphased on the ball. But they're forced back to Livakovic again and have to restart their attacking move. The keeper tries to get it forward to Petkovic, but Wales clear and regain the ball themselves.
41'
Wales are pressing high here - Bale, Moore and James leading the charge - and it's just keeping Croatia in their own half for the time being. But it leaves big holes in the Wales midfield, something the likes of Modric and Kovacic are excellent at taking advantage of.
38'
Croatia in possession, but the Wales defence repel their attacks and force them back into their own half. They've simmered down somewhat since their goal, but they're still in control for now.
33'
Bale switches play wide to Davies, but his flick-on to James is poor and Jedvaj gathers up possession. They still haven't managed to create much just yet Wales and there's a feeling that Croatia have another gear to their performance.
31'
For the third time in the first half, play's brought to halt, this time for a pitch invader. Security remove him quickly though and the referee resumes the action with Croatia in possession.
27'
Croatia are on the attack again though, Perisic making an out-to-in run and darting into the box, but Davies shuts him down and makes a last-ditch tackle preventing a potential goal.
25'
Giggs should be pleased with the response to going behind, but the point remains that Wales made it far too easy for Croatia in the opening spell of the game! Brekalo tore their defence apart with his footwork for the goal, while they had to rely on a vital Hennessey save to keep the score at 1-0 just four minutes later.
23'
James delivers, but Petkovic gets it away. Wales retain possession in the Croatia half though, working it up to Bale on the right, but he's caught offside.
22'
The energy levels are rising as Wales chase a goal and there's a sense that they can equalise quickly. Here's Davies on the overlap out on the left flank, winning a corner.
20'
Bale attempts, but it's straight into the wall in something of an anti-climax.
19'
Here come Wales through Moore though and he does well to win a free-kick off Modric, making the most of the contact. It's in a dangeous position and Bale must be licking his lips in anticipation. What can he do with this?
14'
D. Vida gets yellow.
Vida is shown a yellow card for the incident - he flew in very wildly there.
13'
HENNESSEY SAVES! Wales are really hanging on at the moment! What a pass this is from Petkovic into Perisic - he beats the offside trap, taking advantage of Lockyer's lapse in concentration, but Hennessey gets across to tip his header wide.
9'
N. Vlašić has scored a goal for Croatia! Assist by B. Petković.
GOAAAAL! CROATIA LEAD! It's taken less than 10 minutes for Vlasic to find the net, capitalising on some poor defending from Wales! It's a well-struck low shot that hits the inside of the left-hand post on the way in. What a massive goal this could turn out to be!
It's all about the pre-assist here though! Brekalo picks up the ball inside his own half and runs, then runs some more and keeps running all the way into the Wales box! He beat three or four defenders on his way through and absolutely stitched Lockyer up with some neat footwork. It's Petkovic that gets the final assist, though.
8'
Here's Davies with a pass over the top to James, but Lovren shoves him over completely as the ball rolls out for a goal-kick. James is furious that he hasn't been given a penalty, but the referee's having none of it!
6'
CHANCE! The ball falls nicely to Brekalo from a Petkovic lay-off and he attempts a shot, but it's a wild effort that goes out for a throw! We don't see that too often!
5'
Perisic with a cross into Petkovic, who tries to control it and bring the ball down, but he seems to be held back by his marker and Wales clear! The referee didn't spot anything and Croatia didn't appeal for a decision either.
3'
Croatia on the ball early on here, Kovacic linking with Modric in the middle to keep possession flowing. It's Perisic wide now, with a clever ball inside to Petkovic, but Wales recover.
1'
KICK-OFF! Croatia get the game started in Cardiff!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Euro 2020 qualifier between Wales and Croatia.
The permutations could make your mind boggle, but a win for Group E leaders Croatia sees them safely through to Euro 2020. As for Wales, three wins in their remaining three games also means they qualify automatically, but anything less and problems will arise. Their destiny is very much in their hands, but a tough test against the beaten World Cup finalists awaits today.
A difficult game indeed. Wales have never beaten Croatia in five meetings between the two nations, losing each of their last four since a 1-1 draw 17 years ago!
WALES XI (4-2-3-1): Wayne Hennessey; Connor Roberts, Joe Rodon, Tom Lockyer, Ben Davies; Joe Allen, Ethan Ampadu; Gareth Bale, Jonathan Williams, Daniel James; Kieffer Moore.
SUBS: Joe Morrell, Rabbi Matondo, Tom Lawrence, Neil Taylor, Sam Vokes, Adam Davies, Will Vaulks, Danny Ward, Harry Wilson, Chris Gunter, Tyler Roberts, Ashley Williams.
CROATIA XI (4-2-3-1): Dominik Livakovic; Tin Jedvaj, Dejan Lovren, Domagoj Vida, Borna Barisic; Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic; Ivan Perisic, Nikola Vlasic, Josip Brekalo; Bruno Petkovic.
SUBS: Dario Melnjak, Milan Badelj, Ivan Rakitic, Karlo Bartolec, Lovre Kalinic, Mislav Orsic, Simon Sluga, Dino Peric, Filip Bradaric, Mile Skoric, Ante Rebic, Mario Pasalic.
Don’t go anywhere because the teams are out and kick-off is on the way!
Could this be the start of the comeback for Wales or the only goal they'll score? They've looked excellent in parts, but equally as poor in others. They've defended rather passively and allowed Croatia to find their ryhthm, only unsettling them when they became more aggressive towards the end of the half. The goal changes everything, but the key is for Wales to carry that momentum through to the second half.
A draw leaves us no closer to the final picture in Group E. Croatia still need to go Slovakia and get a result to seal their spot at Euro 2020, while Wales are still in with a shout for automatic qualification. However, they need to win in Azerbaijan and hope Croatia do them a favour against Slovakia, then beat Hungary in their final game in November. Everything still to play for then!
That's all from us for Wales' 1-1 draw with Croatia. Thanks for joining us and, until next time, goodbye!
