Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of this Premier League clash between Manchester City and Wolves!
City have won five consecutive matches since their surprise defeat away to Norwich City back in September. Pep Guardiola’s side cannot afford another slip-up if they are to keep the pace with league leaders Liverpool, and they can reduce the gap to five points with a victory in this match.
Wolves travel to Manchester following a highly impressive 1-0 victory over Besiktas in the Europa League, with Willy Boly scoring an injury-time winner in Istanbul. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have made a disappointing start to their league campaign, but they secured their first top-flight win of the season with a 2-0 success over Watford last weekend.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-3-3): Ederson; Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, Fernandinho, Joao Cancelo; Ilkay Gundogan, Rodrigo, David Silva; Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, Riyad Mahrez.
SUBS: Eric Garcia, Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, Claudio Bravo, Angelino, Bernardo Silva, Oleksandr Zinchenko.
SUBS: Morgan Gibbs-White, John Ruddy, Matt Doherty, Jonny, Ryan Bennett, Jesus Vallejo, Max Kilman.
The players are now gathering in the tunnel and we are approaching kick-off at the Etihad Stadium.
City's overall game play has been more expressive than that of their opponents, but Guardiola's side have not quite been at their destructive best so far. The Spaniard will be demanding more creativity from his side in the final third, while they must also tighten up at the back following a number of Wolves breaks.
The players are coming out of the tunnel and we are now nearing the start of the second period.
That was the first time City have failed to score at home since May 2018, while it also marked Wolves' first success away at City since 1979. The Premier League champions will be looking to bounce back from this damaging defeat against Crystal Palace after the international break. However, they now certainly have their work cut out to catch up with Liverpool who have opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Wolves should gain great confidence from this victory and they will look to build on this when they host Southampton in two weeks' time.
That's all for now. Thank you for following our live coverage of this Premier League match!
