Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are in dire need of a victory this evening - not only to improve their standing in the Premier League, but to lift the mood around the club. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men put forward a meek performance last time out in the top flight in their 2-0 defeat to West Ham United on the road. Although the Norwegian made changes to his side, the Red Devils needed penalties to see off Rochdale in the EFL Cup during the week. United have to find a performance tonight to get back to winning ways in the Premier League, which will ease the pressure on their manager.
Arsenal have not been perfect in recent weeks, but are still unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions. They fought back to defeat Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium 3-2 last week, despite being reduced to 10 men when Ainsley Maitland-Niles was dismissed in the first half. Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored in the final 10 minutes to secure the three points. The Gunners eased past Nottingham Forest in their EFL Cup clash, putting five goals past the Championship side. Old Trafford has not been a happy venue for Arsenal in the past, failing to win on their last 12 visits. Unai Emery and his team have to capitalise on United's woes this evening.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Axel Tuanzebe, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Ashley Young; Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba; Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard, Daniel James; Marcus Rashford.
MANCHESTER UNITED SUBS: Juan Mata, Marcos Rojo, Fred, Sergio Romero, Mason Greenwood, Nemanja Matic, Brandon Williams.
ARSENAL (4-3-3): Bernd Leno; Calum Chambers, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, David Luiz, Sead Kolasinac; Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi; Bukayo Saka, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe.
ARSENAL SUBS: Daniel Ceballos, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Rob Holding, Reiss Nelson, Emiliano Martinez, Joe Willock, Gabriel Martinelli.
Unai Emery will be fuming with his team. They allowed United to break on the counter with ease before McTominay rifled his effort home. The Gunners have been too passive against a Red Devils side low on confidence. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has not been involved enough in the contest, while Nicolas Pepe has been poor to say the least. Bukayo Saka has been a positive outlet and Arsenal may have to turn to the 18-year-old to get them out of trouble.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
United are next in action on Thursday in the Europa League on the road at AZ, while Arsenal are at home in the same competition on the same day against Standard Liege.
