F. Balbuena enters the game and replaces M. Noble.
There will be a minimum of three minutes added on. As the board goes up, Taylor plays in a cross which Ogbonna clears, though only out for a corner.
West Ham have made a change. Noble going off with centre-back Balbuena coming on.
89'
Huge cries of frustration from the home fans. Wesley finds himself in space, but only gets off a tame shot which does not test Fabianski at all.
85'
K. Davis enters the game and replaces F. Guilbert.
Smith makes his final change, with Davis replacing Guilbert.
84'
Clever, experienced play from Noble. West Ham got themselves stuck on the edge of Villa’s area, but Fornals spotted his captain in space. The midfielder took it down, only for his touch to force him wide, but he got his body in front of Guilbert to win a foul.
83'
Douglas Luiz is quickly involved. First, he gets his foot on the ball as Villa work it down the right, only for El Mohamady’s looping cross to be cleared. West Ham counter, with the former Manchester City player conceding a rather reckless foul on Haller.
81'
Douglas Luiz enters the game and replaces M. Nakamba.
Smith makes a second change. Nakamba, who has had a solid enough debut, makes way for Douglas Luiz.
80'
West Ham have, if anything, looked the more dangerous side since they were reduced to 10 men. Fornals finds himself with plenty of time on the ball and elects to shoot from around 25 yards out, forcing Taylor into a block which deflects it wide for a corner. The visitors cannot make anything of it, however.
79'
That is extremely poor from El Mohamady! Wesley did well to play a quick one-two with his team-mate and take Zabaleta out of the game. The Brazilian charges down the right, and El Mohamady had acres of space to either drive forward or play a pass towards the striker. Instead, he plays a negative pass back to Guilbert who, under pressure from Haller, lumps a dreadful attempted ball to Taylor out of play.
77'
T. Mings gets yellow.
The visiting Hammers are happier with the referee now. Mings has gone into the book, having lead with his arm when challenging Haller.
Minute
Description
76'
The West Ham fans have been quick to air their displeasure at Mike Dean’s decision. “It’s all about you,” they’re chanting at the referee. Meanwhile, Villa are looking to pick the lock, but Grealish overhits a cross and West Ham easily see it out of play.
72'
McGinn presses high and steals the ball off Zabaleta, immediately looking to find a team-mate with a raking cross. Wesley gets underneath it, but El Ghazi manages to get there, though he can only turn it towards Grealish, who cannot take it under his spell.
69'
P. Zabaleta enters the game and replaces Felipe Anderson.
Well, Pellegrini – who has turned 66 today – has now been forced into a change. Felipe Anderson, West Ham’s most likely goal threat so far, has made way for Zabaleta.
67'
A. Masuaku gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
RED CARD! Masuaku is off! It is an incredibly harsh decision from Mike Dean, but VAR cannot review a yellow-card offence. Masuaku dived in on El Mohamday, but hardly made any contact. The referee had made his mind up, however, with West Ham's protests falling on deaf ears.
66'
Ahmed El Mohamady enters the game and replaces Jota Peleteiro.
Smith has reacted to West Ham’s change with a substitution of his own. El Mohamady, a full-back by trade, is on in place of Jota, who had faded since the restart.
65'
After a spell of Villa pressure, West Ham have managed to gain a foothold now, with Lanzini and Noble getting on the ball in midfield. Haller eventually drops in to spread it wide to Felipe Anderson, who aims to pick out the striker with a flat cross, but it soars out of play.
62'
Pablo Fornals enters the game and replaces A. Yarmolenko.
Here’s a first change, and it is Pellegrini who blinks first. Yarmolenko is indeed the one who makes way, with former Villarreal playmaker Fornals coming on in his place, and the Spain Under-21 international should inject some more pace and energy into West Ham's attack.
61'
Great work from Nakamba, who has certainly grown into the game after a difficult first half. The midfielder tracked Masuaku’s run and did well to steward the full-back out of play, preventing the cross and earning a goal-kick.
59'
El Ghazi is played in by McGinn, but his shot is easily saved by Fabianski. West Ham conceded possession easily, though, but Taylor fails to maintain the Villa pressure. The home crowd are in good voice now and sense their team have the upper hand.
57'
Excellent defending from Grealish! The Villa playmaker has excelled in his box-to-box role under Smith, and the youngster just made a wonderful block to deny Rice. Haller had laid it off to the England international, but Grealish was out quickly to make a block.
50'
McGinn dives in late on Haller, though appears to have come off worse as West Ham’s forward gets back to his feet quickly enough. VAR will check for a high lunge, but it seemed to be more of a coming together than anything malicious.
49'
Taylor makes an almighty mess of an attempted clearance, simply heading the ball high in the air. Noble is quick to pounce and Villa’s left-back has no choice but to bring West Ham’s captain down.
46'
And… we’re back! The second half is up and running at Villa Park, with the scores level at 0-0.
45' +2
HALF-TIME: ASTON VILLA 0-0 WEST HAM.
45' +1
SAVE! Brilliant goalkeeping from Fabianski, who reacts excellently to get down to his right and tip McGinn’s effort wide. Again, however, it would not have counted, as it took a deflection off Wesley – who was offside – on its way through.
44'
Great move! Mings delivers a pinpoint pass to Jota, who nudges it back to Guilbert to cross. Wesley latches onto it, but fails to beat Fabianski with his header. However, it would not have counted as the offside flag was already up.
43'
Jota does well to see his way through a crowd of players and spread the play to Mings. The centre-back slips in Grealish, but Villa’s captain underhits his return pass, forcing the defender to slide in and clear to prevent Haller latching onto the loose ball.
34'
Villa are back on the front foot now and, full of confidence given his recent form, McGinn elects to try a shot from range. He gets hold of it well enough, but the effort lacked any dip or swerve, meaning Fabianski makes a rather comfortable stop.
32'
Jota takes the free-kick short, with Grealish trying to dribble his way into the area. He is blocked off, but picks out a neat pass to Nakamba, who could have struck it but instead finds Guilbert, and his cross is intercepted.
30'
A long pass catches West Ham’s defence cold, and El Ghazi just can’t turn the ball into Wesley’s path, though Villa keep up the pressure and win a free-kick to the left of the penalty area.
29'
M. Noble gets yellow.
Mike Dean is certainly not shying away from utilising his cards. Noble has now got a booking, for a foul Grealish.
28'
J. Grealish gets yellow.
Felipe Anderson has switched with Yarmolenko now, and has an instant impact on the right, drawing a foul from Grealish, who is slightly unlucky to go into the referee’s book.
26'
Better, more patient play from West Ham, with Lanzini and Felipe Anderson interchanging passes nicely down the left, with Nakamba subsequent dragged out of position. Rice fills the void, and gets a long-range shot off, but it is deflected wide.
23'
A. Masuaku gets yellow.
Masuaku has gone in the book for that foul, with Guilbert having had to receive treatment.
22'
Now it’s Villa who are looking to break, but just as Guilbert looked like he’d be getting free down the right flank, Masuaku gets across to make a blunt challenge and stop the move in its tracks.
17'
West Ham seem to have been sparked into life by that Villa chance, and are now pressing higher upfield and looking to play with a bit more intent. Villa are playing with plenty of energy in midfield, however, with Grealish and McGinn buzzing around Nakamba.
7'
Now it’s Villa who enjoy a sustained spell of possession, which eventually results in al long ball from Engels getting through to McGinn, who seemed to have got the better of Ogbonna and curled in a wonderful finish. Referee Mike Dean, however, had already awarded West Ham a free-kick.
5'
A first chance of the game and it goes West Ham’s way. Some neat build up results in Fredericks beating El Ghazi to Lanzini’s pass, with the full-back drilling a low cross into Haller, who cushions it off to Yarmolenko. The Ukraine winger snaps at his shot, though, and Mings makes the block.
3'
Positive football from both sides to start off with. First, Lanzini looks to drive the visitors upfield, but his run is cut off by Nakamba, who gets Villa on the counter. McGinn attempts to find a way into the area, though can’t get around Diop.
1'
KICK-OFF! We are up and running as West Ham, wearing their dark navy away strip, get proceedings underway at Villa Park.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of today’s Premier League clash between Aston Villa and West Ham.
Villa won their last home match, against Everton, but failed to build on that victory when they faced Crystal Palace last time out, and sit 18th as it stands. A victory would lift Dean Smith’s side up into 13th, however.
West Ham, meanwhile, have won their last two matches, and the international break arguably came at the wrong time for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who would join second-placed Manchester City on 10 points should they triumph today.
ASTON VILLA SUBS: Jed Steer, Douglas Luiz, Henri Lansbury, Conor Hourihane, Ezri Konsa, Ahmed El Mohamady, Keinan Davis.
WEST HAM (4-2-3-1): Lukasz Fabianski; Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna, Arthur Masuaku; Mark Noble, Declan Rice; Andriy Yarmolenko, Manuel Lanzini, Felipe Anderson; Sebastien Haller.
WEST HAM SUBS: Roberto Jimenez, Fabian Balbuena, Pablo Zabaleta, Robert Snodrgass, Pablo Fornals, Jack Wilshere, Albian Ajeti.
The teams are making their way out at Villa Park, and we’re just moments away from kick-off!
Smith will be happy with his side’s general play, though Villa could do with creating more for Wesley, who despite his poor miss has kept West Ham's defenders occupied. Pellegrini, meanwhile, could look to introduce Fornals in place of Yarmolenko, who has been largely ineffective.
ASTON VILLA (4-3-3): Tom Heaton; Frederic Gulibert, Bjorn Engels, Tyrone Mings, Neil Taylor; John McGinn, Marvelous Nakamba, Jack Grealish; Jota, Wesley, Anwar El Ghazi.
It’s honours even at Villa Park, as West Ham hang on with 10 men. Neither of those stoppage-time penalty shouts were worthy of spot-kicks and, ultimately, in a game of few clear-cut chances a draw is a fair result.
The point lifts Villa out of the bottom three, while West Ham are now on eight points, though they failed to take their chance to move up into the top three.
That’s all we have time for. Until next time, goodbye!
