Pogba is cautioned for his challenge, adding insult to injury on the back of that penalty miss. Will it prove costly? There are just seconds left to play...
90' +5
T. Chong enters the game and replaces M. Rashford.
Solskjaer turns to his bench for the final time today, bringing on academy product Chong for another homegrown star in Rashford.
90' +4
Penalty saved by A. Gunn!
Pogba is made to look silly as his penalty, following his trademark stuttered run-up, is saved by Gunn down the middle. It is not quite game over just yet!
Gunn dived to his right but managed to stick out his legs to keep out the penalty, which was struck down the middle by Pogba.
90' +3
PENALTY TO MAN UNITED! The hosts finally have a chance to make certain of the points once and for all. Rashford tries to shield the ball in the box and Armstrong swings out a leg to send his opponent to the ground. Armstrong is furious with the decision but that looks a pretty clear call.
90' +2
Vestergaard gets to the ball just ahead of Lukaku to prevent the striker from bursting through on goal. United are refusing to let go of the ball now, seemingly learning their lesson from the Saints' first two goals.
90'
S. Gallagher enters the game and replaces M. Yoshida.
Gallagher was waiting to come on with the scoreline at 2-2. Hasenhuttl decides to still make the change, with Yoshida being replaced.
89'
R. Lukaku gets yellow.
Lukaku is shown a yellow card for taking off his shirt when celebrating what is likely to be his side's winning goal.
88'
R. Lukaku has scored a goal for Manchester United!
GOOOOOAAALLL!!! MAN UNITED 3-2 SOUTHAMPTON! Lukaku scores his second goal of the game - and his ninth in 12 Premier League meetings with Southampton - to surely win the contest for United! It is yet another brilliant individual goal, with the striker curling the ball away from Yoshida and, more importantly, Gunn in the visitors' goal to send the home supporters wild.
87'
Pogba's lay-off towards Lukaku is a little heavy and the ball runs through to Gunn. Both managers are preparing a change as we enter the final throes of the contest.

Description
86'
CHANCE FOR SOUTHAMPTON TO WIN IT! United are really struggling at the moment - full credit must go to Southampton for that. A corner is not properly dealt with and it falls for an unmarked Vestergaard to strike in front of goal, but his awkward shot drops wide of the right-hand post.
85'
Southampton win another corner through Ward-Prowse, with Shaw this time getting across to cut out the danger. United have barely managed to get their foot on the ball over the last four minutes, as Smalling blocks Yoshida's headed attempt.
84'
They say the best form of defence is to attack - well credit to Southampton for getting at their opponents late on. Ward-Prowse runs the ball down the line but, rather than taking it to the corner, he lashes it against a United player to win his side a corner, which Pogba clears.
82'
Fred enters the game and replaces Andreas Pereira.
Fred, whose Old Trafford career has yet to really get going, takes over from Pereira for the closing stages.
81'
United have had 65 per cent of the ball today and created numerous opportunities, yet they have been matched by Southampton in terms of goals scored. The visitors are not willing to sit back, getting a cross into the box that is gathered by De Gea at his near post.
79'
There is a breakdown in communication between Valery and Redmond. The makeshift striker stopped his run just when his team-mate was playing it in behind. Southampton, it must be said, are looking pretty comfortable at the moment.
77'
All the noise inside Old Trafford is being created by the travelling Southampton supporters - what a result this would be for them. United looked dominant at 2-1, but their profligacy may well come back to haunt them as they are heading towards a home draw.
75'
J. Ward-Prowse has scored a goal for Southampton!
GOOOOAAAALLL!!! MAN UNITED 2-2 SOUTHAMPTON! This is a special goal from Ward-Prowse, who is in the form of his life! We really have been treated to some unbelievable goals today, and this one is right up there. From the free-kick conceded by Young for his challenge on Armstrong, Ward-Prowse curls it up and over the wall from 20 yards, getting enough bend on the ball to get the better of De Gea.
73'
Young and Armstrong collide on the edge of United's box - both players were fully committed. Young did ultimately take out his opponent, though, and the referee awards Southampton a free-kick in a promising position. Ward-Prowse is standing over the ball.
69'
Dalot, again encouraged to shoot by supporters, is wayward with this latest attempt. United are looking dangerous with each attacking move, though they could do with a third goal to kill the game off.
67'
Brilliant play from United. Shaw controls the ball in the box and lays it off to Rashford, who exchanges passes with Lukaku. The Belgian is unable to get a shot away, though, thanks to some good defending from Vestergaard in front of his own goal.
65'
UNLUCKY! Dalot is urged to shoot when the ball drops to him 25 yards out. The attempt is not bad, either, flashing a low drive inches wide of the far post.
64'
Lukaku bundles his way past a couple of players and then squares the ball towards Rashford, but Valery is alert to the danger and clears it before the England striker can get on the end of it.
63'
S. Armstrong enters the game and replaces C. Austin.
This is an interesting decision from Hasenhuttl, as he turns to Armstrong to replace Austin. The attacking midfielder will join Redmond up top as Southamton attempt to hit back.
61'
Southampton work the ball well and Hojbjerg has a clean shot on goal from just outside the box. Unlike Valery and Pereira earlier in the match, though, the midfielder hammers the ball over the crossbar to Solskjaer's relief. United were caught out there.
59'
R. Lukaku has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by Andreas Pereira.
GOOOOAAALLL!!! MAN UNITED 2-1 SOUTHAMPTON! United score a quickfire second goal to take the lead at Old Trafford. Pereira stays on his feet after being challenged and touches the ball into the path of Lukaku, who works it onto his right and, like his goal against Palace in midweek, curls it away from Gunn with a low finish.
Pereira is enjoying arguably his finest game in a United top - it has certainly been his best half of football. Having scored a superb opener six minutes ago, the midfielder did well to maintain his balance and tee up Lukaku for his side's second goal.
57'
It is constant pressure now from United after dragging themselves back on level terms. The hosts are up to 81 per cent in terms of second-half possession - an incredible figure. Hasenhuttl must surely be tempted to turn to his bench.
55'
The quality of United's crossing has been very good. Southampton are really holding on now, failing to cope with their opponents' change of system to a three-man defence. Solskjaer clearly wants his side to go all out for another goal.
53'
Andreas Pereira has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by Diogo Dalot.
Dalot has made a huge impact during his short time on the pitch. The substitute controlled the ball and passed it to Pereira to do the rest from a long way out.
GOOOOAAALLLL!!! MAN UNITED 1-1 SOUTHAMPTON! As good as Valery's opener was, it may not even be the best goal of the game because this is something special from Pereira. Dalot controls the ball and plays it to Pereira, who decides against using the run of Shaw and instead curls the ball up and over Gunn in the Southampton goal. A sensational way for the midfielder to open his Premier League account.
52'
Diogo Dalot enters the game and replaces A. Sánchez.
Sanchez jarred his knee a couple of minutes ago and, after trying and failing to run it off, the forward is replaced by Dalot. Yet another injury problem for Solskjaer to contend with.
50'
ANOTHER PENALTY SHOUT! Shaw's cross from the left bounces up and hits Bednarek on the arm, but the referee believes it was unintentional.
49'
The ball ends up in the back of De Gea's net, but the referee had blown his whistle a couple of seconds beforehand for Austin's foul on Young. Southampton have started the second half well.
47'
Smalling looks annoyed at himself for dragging down Austin. A needless challenge from the centre-back, giving Southampton a chance to eat up some more precious seconds.
46'
Man United, heading for just a second loss in 16 matches under Solskjaer as things stand, gets us back underway at Old Trafford!
45' +3
HALF-TIME: MAN UNITED 0-1 SOUTHAMPTON
45' +2
The referee gives Bednarek a telling-off following a number of niggling fouls. Southampton have done well to frustrate their opponents since edging in front, and Hasenhuttl will argue that his side are good value for their advantage. Others will disagree, of course!
45'
Three minutes have been added on at the end of this entertaining first half. United have not exactly been poor, but they need to show a bit more invention in the final third. Southampton have got plenty of bodies back behind the ball to hold onto their first-half lead.
43'
It's United's turn to ask for a penalty now as a cross form the right hits Valery on the hand. The referee Stuart Attwell is well positioned and waves away the appeals. Southampton had far bigger shouts, it must be said.
41'
CLOSE! Smalling guides a header towards the far post and Rashford gets to it. The angle is against the striker, though, so he instead sends it back into the middle and the shot from McTominay, when it eventually arrives, is well off target.
39'
R. Bertrand gets yellow.
The ball finally goes out of play and Stuart Attwell is able to caution Bertrand for his lunge on Lukaku a few minutes ago. Good refereeing.
37'
Southampton are having to hold on a little now as United throw plenty at them. Solskjaer's side have had a couple of good chances either side of Valery's stunning opener, but they have been unable to make the most of them.
36'
Southampton's high press nearly pays off but the hosts just about manage to play their way out of trouble. Bertrand lunges in on Lukaku but the Belgian keeps on running, with a good advantage being played. Pogba slips it through for Sanchez but Gunn races out to collect.
32'
GOOD OPPORTUNITY! A positive attacking move from United comes to a disappointing conclusion. Sanchez plays a perfectly-weighted throughball into the path of Shaw, who decides against shooting and instead squares it to Lukaku. Rashford touches the ball first, though, and the breakdown in communication is costly as Southampton are able to clear.
30'
Redmond's ability to drift around the pitch is causing United plenty of problems. The hosts resort to going long towards Lukaku, only for Vestergaard to race across and get to the ball first. Solskjaer's men have been rocked by that surprise Southampton goal.
28'
Southampton, having survived a couple of early scares, are looking full of confidence following that strike from Valery. As things stand, Solskjaer is heading towards a first domestic defeat as United's caretaker manager, though there is plenty of time to go.
26'
Y. Valery has scored a goal for Southampton! Assist by C. Austin.
Austin is credited with the assists but he will be embarrassed to claim it. The striker was perhaps expecting the full-back to cross the ball into the box, not thump it into the top corner from distance. Unbelievable strike!
GOOOAAALLL!! MAN UNITED 0-1 SOUTHAMPTON! What a strike! From out of nowhere, Austin rolls the ball across to Valery and the full-back - previously without a goal in senior football - thumps it into the top corner of the net from more than 25 yards. De Gea gets a small touch to the ball but he was not expecting that - the sheer power of it beats him.
22'
Southampton win another corner as Valery's delivery is helped behind by Young. United stand strong when the set-piece arrives, with Pereira clearing the ball on the edge of the box.
20'
Gunn was caught by Rashford from that offside chance a few minutes ago but, like McTominay before him, he is fine to continue after receiving some treatment. The match has been a little stop-start so far, though both teams have squandered good chances.
18'
McTominay gets a little too much on his pass. The midfielder appears to have recovered from that early facial injury he suffered so there is no need for Fred to come on.
17'
Pogba, a man very much on top of his game, slides a throughball into the path of Rashford and the striker's first touch is a good one. Unfortunately for him, though, the offside flag correctly goes up before he can think about scoring.
15'
Redmond played a superb ball in behind for Bertrand to race on to in the build-up to that penalty appeal. After a fast start from United, they are now very much second best.
12'
BETTER FROM SOUTHAMPTON! The visitors are enjoying their first prolonged spell on the ball. A deep cross towards Bertrand is helped behind by Young for the their first corner, which Vestergaard heads wide from eight yards. That has to go down as a good chance for Hasenhuttl's side.
5'
Gunn made a terrific save to keep out Lukaku's shot a minute or so ago, but he is nearly guilty of a howler moments later. Pereira's cross almost catches him out, but he manages to get a touch to the ball to turn it over for another corner.
4'
GOOD SAVE! Gunn, given a run of starts for Southampton over the last week, makes a brilliant stop down to his left to deny Lukaku an early goal. The striker profits from a lucky deflection and sets himself for the shot, which is well struck towards the bottom corner.
3'
Rashford, who is starting in a wide position, gets away from Vestergaard with a nutmeg and sends a cross towards Lukaku. It has a little too much on it, though, and the Belgium striker is unable to make telling contact.

Southampton, aiming to maintain their impressive recent record at Old Trafford, get us underway!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Manchester United and Southampton at Old Trafford.
Southampton were also victorious in their most recent outing, overcoming fellow strugglers Fulham 2-0 at St Mary's Stadium on Wednesday to climb above Cardiff City into 17th place. That was a first win in five for Ralph Hasenhuttl's side and it came at the perfect time, as they now face a run of games against Man United, Tottenham and Liverpool in three of their next four outings. Safety may be in their own hands thanks to a favourable set of results in midweek, but there is still plenty of work to do if they are to maintain their top-flight status.
United picked up a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace in midweek to get back to winning ways following last weekend's stalemate with Liverpool, making it 12 wins, two draws and one defeat for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he was appointed on a caretaker basis in December. A dramatic draw between Tottenham and Arsenal earlier today means that Solskjaer's side can now move back into the top four with victory against Southampton and to within three points of third-placed Tottenham.
MAN UNITED XI (4-3-3): David de Gea; Ashley Young (c), Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw; Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Paul Pogba; Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez.
Man United subs: Diogo Dalot, Tahith Chong, Marcos Rojo, Angel Gomes, Fred, Eric Bailly, Lee Grant.
SOUTHAMPTON XI (3-5-2): Angus Gunn; Jan Bednarek, Maya Yoshida, Jannik Vestergaard; Yan Valery, James Ward-Prowse, Oriol Romeu, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (c), Ryan Bertrand; Nathan Redmond, Charlie Austin.
Southampton subs: Callum Slattery, Stuart Armstrong, Sam Gallagher, Matt Targett, Jack Stephens, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Alex McCarthy.
The two teams are now out on the field at Old Trafford and we are moments away from kick-off.
Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye!
That late strike from Lukaku lifts United into fourth place in the Premier League and to within three points of third-place Tottenham. United have plenty of momentum on their side as they prepare for their midweek trip to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, before then returning to league action next week with a trip to Arsenal - what a match that should be! Southampton, who remain above the relegation zone despite this defeat, play host to Tottenham next Saturday on their return to action.
Solskjaer has some thinking to do at half-time. United had good opportunities in the first half, and they could easily have scored a couple before Southampton struck through one of only two on-target attempts, but they are too easily being caught out at the back and are struggling to take their chances. A look at the bench suggests that Solskjaer will probably stick with the same XI for the start of the second period.
