Ronaldo gets hold of a first-time left-footed effort from the edge of the area, but it's straight at Da Costa.
90' +1
Ronaldo wins a corner which Bologna clear. We're into three minutes of added time.
85'
Benatia's withdrawal before kick-off forced Chiellini into the starting XI and Allegri has certainly lost nothing in terms of defensive aptitude. He and Bonucci have been imperious at the back.
82'
R. Soriano gets yellow.
Soriano caps his forgettable debut with a yellow card, cynically clipping Dybala's heels.
80'
Alex Sandro enters the game and replaces L. Spinazzola.
A successful outing for Spinazzola - his first of the campaign - comes to a close. Alex Sandro is his replacement.
77'
R. Palacio enters the game and replaces M. Destro.
P. Dybala enters the game and replaces Douglas Costa.
The ineffective Destro makes way for veteran striker Palacio.
Dybala gets just over 10 minutes of regulation time to pose a few problems as he comes on for Douglas Costa.
74'
Pulgar has another go, this time sending a hurried volley safely past the left post. Bologna have been too impatient in patches.
73'
Pulgar blazes an audacious attempt well wide of the target and Szczesny is still yet to make a save as we tick towards the final 15 minutes.
70'
Inzaghi's second switch sees loanee Orsolini come on to face his parent club, replacing Mattiello.
Minute
Description
69'
R. Orsolini enters the game and replaces F. Mattiello.
E. Can gets yellow.
Can's poor touch scuppers a promising move and he proceeds to boot the ball into the distance, earning himself a yellow card.
68'
Dijks, one of Bologna's better players, intercepts an underhit Ronaldo pass, but Spinazzola and Chiellini combine to clear the eventual cross.
65'
Soriano's cross in from the left entices only a poor header out of Sansone, who looks to the sky in frustration.
62'
G. Donsah enters the game and replaces M. Svanberg.
Cristiano Ronaldo enters the game and replaces M. Kean.
No reprieve for Bologna as Kean's departure only means the introduction of Ronaldo for the final half hour or so.
Inzaghi also makes his first substitution of the match, introducing Donsah in place of Svanberg.
61'
Half-hearted appeals for a penalty from Bologna go unheeded after Helander's header ricocheted off Khedira and Bonucci. Both players had their arms tucked into their bodies.
59'
Dijks swings in a cross that flies beyond the assembled pack in the penalty area. Mattiello's follow-up delivery is cut out for a corner.
53'
Retrieving one goal always looked a tall order for Bologna and two seems well beyond their capabilities. The hosts have managed five shots in total and none on target.
49'
M. Kean has scored a goal for Juventus!
GOALL!! It's a tap-in for Kean and Juventus lead 2-0 early in the second half. Douglas Costa cuts in from the right and sees his deflected shot drop perfectly into Kean's path for a straightforward poked finish. That might be the game.
48'
Douglas Costa's tame shot bobbles along into Da Costa's gloves. The pitch is a real challenge for goalkeepers and outfielders alike.
46'
Back underway in Bologna with Juventus leading 1-0 and appearing destined to book a place in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
45' +1
HALF-TIME: BOLOGNA 0-1 JUVENTUS
43'
M. De Sciglio gets yellow.
Given the level of Juventus' domination, Inzaghi will be pleased if his team can make it through to the interval with nothing worse than a one-goal deficit.
De Sciglio is the second Juve player to receive a caution having held back Dijks.
41'
Sloppy from Calabresi as he's harried into conceding a corner by Khedira.
34'
We're approaching the 35-minute mark and Bologna are yet to register a shot on target. Destro and Sansone are finding it difficult to link up in attack.
32'
Bologna manage to scramble clear De Sciglio's low cross, the right-back having ventured to the byline with purpose.
30'
F. Bernardeschi gets yellow.
Bernardeschi becomes the first player into the book after impeding Dijks' progress.
29'
Bonucci threatens! The centre-back heads powerfully from Bernardeschi's corner, although it's straight at a thankful Da Costa.
26'
Sansone's cut-back from the left comes invitingly through to Svanberg in the box, but the midfielder completely scuffs his left-footed finish.
25'
Kean slices a difficult shot high and wide when a pass to Khedira might have been the better option. Still, the young striker is looking lively.
23'
Bologna appeal for a back-pass against Bonucci after Szczesny gathers an awkward touch from the defender. The referee isn't interested.
22'
Khedira, wearing the captain's armband for Juventus, flashes a shot harmlessly past the near post.
21'
Juventus have totally dominated the opening 20 minutes in enemy territory. They've managed more than 75 per cent of possession thus far.
18'
Another moment of alarm for Bologna as Bonucci gets a touch to Pjanic's dinked free-kick. Calabresi is there to shepherd it wide.
16'
De Sciglio's pass is loose and it looks for a moment like it might open up for Destro. The striker takes his shot early, though, and it's blocked by Bonucci, before Can fires wide at the other end.
12'
There was half a chance for Danilo to block Bernardeschi's finish on the line, but the defender got his feet muddled up and the shot on the turn was precise.
9'
F. Bernardeschi has scored a goal for Juventus!
GOALL!! The holders lead early and Bologna only have themselves to blame. Da Costa comes out to claim a high ball but collides with the back-tracking Calabresi and spills the ball, allowing Bernardeschi to fire home under little pressure. It's 1-0.
6'
Chiellini's attempted pass into the box is cut out. The Italy defender was not expected to start the match, but he was thrust into the XI after fellow centre-back Benatia withdrew late.
3'
Juventus, as expected, are seeing plenty of the ball in these opening exchanges. They'll need to use it wisely considering the quality of the pitch is perhaps not what they are used to in Turin.
1'
We're underway between Bologna and Juventus at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of this Coppa Italia encounter between Bologna and holders Juventus!
This is the first action since the mid-season break for both sides, who are separated by 40 points in Serie A. That margin naturally makes Juventus heavy favourites to advance to the quarter-finals, although the absence of several stars should give hosts Bologna some hope of springing an upset. They will need to significantly improve on the form that yielded just six points from 12 league matches throughout October, November and December in order to make that a reality.
Bologna subs: Riccardo Orsolini, Gabriele Corbo, Sebastien De Maio, Orji Okwonkwo, Rodrigo Palacio, Lukasz Skorupski, Godfred Donsah, Caio Vinicius, Giancarlo Gonzalez, Ladislav Krejci, Ibrahima Mbaye, Diego Falcinelli.
The players are taking their places on the pitch and it's almost time to get this last-16 affair started!
Juventus XI: Wojciech Szczesny; Mattia De Sciglio, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Spinazzola; Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic, Emre Can; Federico Bernardeschi, Moise Kean, Douglas Costa.
Juventus subs: Mattia Perin, Rodrigo Bentancur, Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo, Daniele Rugani, Carlo Pinsoglio, Blaise Matuidi, Alex Sandro.
Juventus take a richly deserved lead into the break thanks to Bernardeschi's ninth-minute strike. They've been in control since and, though Dijks did have a rare sight of goal right at the end of the half, Bologna have created precious little in attack.
The narrow margin means Allegri may yet have to call the big guns from the bench in order to make the result safe. In Ronaldo, Dybala, Matuidi and Bentancur, he has plenty of options from which to choose.
Bianconeri boss Allegri will be satisfied with the efficiency of a victory which sets his side up for greater challenges ahead, beginning with the Supercoppa Italiana final against AC Milan in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. Bologna, three points from safety in Serie A, will hope to end a three-match losing streak when they visit relegation rivals SPAL next Sunday.
That wraps up our coverage of this one-sided Coppa Italia encounter. Thanks for joining us and we look forward to having your company again soon. Until then, goodbye!
