Fulham make their final substitution - Vietto is replaced by young English right-sider Christie.

De Bruyne goes off. Gomes, an 18-year-old French midfielder formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, replaces him.

Description
73'
Mitrovic gets a sniff of the ball and attempts to drive into the area but Delph snuffs the attack out. The ball is quickly launched back at Fulham. A cut-back aimed for Jesus is put out by Odoi. Fulham defend the corner well again.
72'
Sane runs directly at the Fulham defence again and wins a free-kick from Odoi. De Bruyne's effort is just over the head of Kompany and bounces harmlessly wide.
71'
City have a chance that is quickly flagged up for hand-ball. Fulham have a short passage of play on the ball but Mitrovic is forced to drop so deep City's defenders are under no threat.
69'
M. Le Marchand enters the game and replaces T. Ream.
Ream, who's had a torrid time at the heart of the Fulham defence, is replaced by Le Marchand. It looks like Fulham are tamely accepting this result.
67'
Diaz is on a hat-trick now. Meanwhile, Odoi puts a dangerous ball out for a corner, narrowly averting putting it into his own net. Fulham have been toothless.
65'
Brahim Díaz has scored a goal for Manchester City!
GOAL! Sane races towards the area and slides in Jesus, who forces an instinctive save from Rico that bounces onto the far post. The ball rebounds kindly for Diaz who makes no mistake, smashing it high into the net. Two for Diaz, 2-0 City!
63'
Schurrle wriggles free on the left-hand side, looks up and aims a pass for Mitrovic but it's cut out. Down the other end, Fosu-Mensah loses out to Sane, who hits the post when he really should score! Play is called back anyway as the German wrestled the Dutchman off the ball unfairly.
61'
Fulham have been better in this half but the Cottagers still haven't had an attack of note barring Sessegnon's run. Schurrle and De Bruyne tussle by the touchline and the Belgian loses out. Fulham have the ball for now.
59'
Anguissa brings down Jesus on the halfway line. Stones pings the ball forward quickly to Diaz and City circulate the ball through the middle. Diaz picks the ball back up in Fulham's box, skipping past a few Fulham defenders, before firing a weak shot into Rico's arms.
57'
Sane gives Rico an easy test with a nothing shot. Up the other end, Danilo times a challenge to perfection to deny Sessegnon just inside City's penalty area after the youngster nearly gave him the slip.
56'
Fulham have a rare foray upfield. Jesus of all people tracks Sessegnon back to the corner flag, giving Fulham a throw-in. It's taken quickly but the cross winds up straight into the hands of Muric.
54'
Another sudden bursting run by Foden sets City away. Foden lays off a delicate pass to Diaz who's racing into the area but the Spanish youngster can't quite control it and it goes out for a goal kick.
53'
De Bruyne attempts to curl a shot into the top corner of Rico's left-hand post but his effort bends just a fraction too wide.
52'
Foden's fantastic cross-field pass is just kept in by Danilo, who lofts a ball to Sane on the opposite side. Nothing comes of it. Foden really is a talent though. He'll be in the full England squad soon enough.
50'
De Bruyne feigns to launch the free-kick before passing it low to Sane on his left. Sane whips the ball in and Jesus heads off target from close range. You sense a second goal is coming.
48'
Mitrovic somehow gets loose in City's penalty area but is quickly crowded out by four City defenders before he can get a shot away. Jesus repeats his trick from a few moments ago after beating Fulham's offside trap. Another City free-kick.
47'
The angle of the free-kick favours the right foot of Danilo, who blooters it into the wall and wins a corner. From the corner, Jesus' header flashes over the bar.
46'
The teams are back out on the pitch and Fulham get the second half of the game underway.
Foden goes on a lovely slaloming run forward and slides in Jesus. Jesus is surrounded by the goal-line but still manages to pass back to Delph, who is brought down on the edge of Fulham's area. City free-kick.
45' +1
HALF TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 1 - 0 FULHAM
45'
There will be one minute of added time.
43'
Fulham find a degree of composure on the ball, keeping City on their toes temporarily. Fosu-Mensah knocks the ball past Delph, who slides in rashly on the wing, but can't beat Kompany in front of him.
41'
That's better! Danilo's cross is pushed away by Rico just in front of goal. Vietto finds Mitrovic on the run but Muric is alert to the danger.
39'
After all their early dominance City have let their foot off the gas a little bit in recent minutes, keeping the ball amongst themselves at the back. Fulham still haven't really threatened but as long as it's only 1-0 the away side have a chance. The City fans urge their team forward.
38'
Zinchenko tries another dangerous ball down the channel for Sane but Sane just can't reach it. Down the other end, Mitrovic has the potential to put Schurrle through but doesn't spot the opportunity, slowing Fulham's attack down.
36'
Fosu-Mensah goes on the run down Fulham's right but runs into the brick wall that is Vincent Kompany. The young Dutchman goes down winded temporarily but looks to be fine.
32'
Fulham stay forward but can't create a clear opportunity. Muric attempts to clear the ball yet hands the ball straight back to the Cottagers. Schurrle eventually finds Mitrovic in the area but Kompany is right on top of the Serbian and the shot deflects back off Mitrovic for a goal-kick.
31'
Fulham have a rare spell on the ball and make progress down the left-hand side. Ryan Sessegnon wins his team a throw-in.
30'
City are pressing incredibly high with their defensive line on the edge of Fulham's defensive third. They're giving Fulham no space to play out at all.
28'
City win a free-kick in an inside-left position from 20 yards out. De Bruyne takes it, a dipping effort that drops just over Rico's crossbar. Not far off.
26'
City continue to dominate possession, probing for opportunities. Fulham win the ball but are hemmed in and Rico is forced to go long, soon handing it back. City really are a team ravenous for the ball.
18'
Brahim Díaz has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by V. Kompany.
GOAL! 1-0 CITY! City have two corners in a row. The second is taken short and lofted towards the far post for Kompany. He can't control it, but the ball falls to Diaz who shoots. Mitrovic turns his back, the ball takes a big deflection and it wrong-foots Rico to bounce into the net.
That assist by Kompany was totally unintentional but it doesn't matter one bit. City have the lead and Fulham have it all to do already.
17'
Fulham are growing into this game. The away side manage to put a few passes together and Fosu-Mensah attempts to spring Schurrle free but the German is beaten by City's offside trap.
15'
Fulham have their first real attack of the game as Vietto attempts to take on the City defence by himself. The Argentine cuts inside and lets off a weak shot from his left foot which Muric picks up comfortably.
11'
City win the ball back and break down the right via Danilo, who flings a cross into Fulham's area. It's headed out towards the touchline and Diaz barges Schurrle off the ball to challenge for the header, handing Fulham a free-kick.
10'
Fulham can barely get into City's half so far but City's threat is more potential than actual at present. The Cottagers win a throw down their right and gradually make progress up the pitch.
8'
Sane shrugs off Fosu-Mensah again and bursts into the box, reaching Fulham's goal-line. He aims a cross back towards De Bruyne but Ream puts it out for City's first corner of the game. Fulham clear it competently.
6'
Fosu-Mensah foolishly hands the ball to Sane who goes on the run down the left. The German gets a low cross in, but Ream manages to fend Jesus off. Fulham can't afford mistakes like that this early in the game.
4'
City try to build another attack. When Fulham do get the ball back, they can't escape City's high press and can't make their way upfield. De Bruyne slips into an inside-right position and tests Rico, who drops low at his near post to claim the ball.
2'
Fulham have barely had a touch of the ball yet. City play in their typical way - all short, zippy passes - but Danilo loses possession to Schurrle, who tries to break down the left side. The German has no support though and the attack breaks down.
1'
City dominate possession from the off and De Bruyne tries his luck from range. Rico makes a routine save.
The referee Martin Atkinson blows his whistle and the match gets underway.
Hello and welcome to our live commentary of this EFL Cup Round of 16 fixture between Manchester City v Fulham at the Etihad Stadium.
This face-off between City and Fulham is the last of this week's EFL Cup fixtures after Leicester City's match against Southampton was postponed. The winner tonight will play either of those teams in the quarter-finals. Will Fulham be able to knock out last season's winners?
MANCHESTER CITY (4-3-3): Arijanet Muric; Danilo, Vincent Kompany (c), John Stones, Oleksandr Zinchenko; Phil Foden, Fabian Delph, Kevin De Bruyne; Brahim Diaz, Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane.
FULHAM (4-3-3): Sergio Rico; Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Tim Ream, Denis Odoi, Ryan Sessegnon;Tom Cairney (c), Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Jean Michael Seri; Luciano Vietto, Aleksandar Mitrovic, André Schürrle.
SUBS: Maxime Le Marchand, Fabri, Luca De La Torre, Floyd Ayite, Alfie Mawson, Cyrus Christie, Steven Sessegnon.
The two teams are wearing black armbands tonight to honour the lives lost in the tragic helicopter crash at Leicester City's stadium last Saturday. The teams gather around the centre circle for a minute's silence which is impeccably observed.
So far, so good for City. They've been a cut above Fulham in this first half and deserve to be more than one goal ahead, even if that goal was a touch fortunate from Brahim Diaz's deflected shot. Fulham are lucky not to be out of this tie already.
That's five successive defeats for Fulham, whose early season optimism must have thoroughly dissipated by now. City, meanwhile, can enjoy their fourth victory in a row. They'll have to wait until November 27th to find out which of Leicester City or Southampton they will face in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.
