The Spanish giants are in disarray at present after they failed to win any of their last five matches in all competitions. Julen Lopetegui's troops lost to CSKA Moscow in their last game in Europe and reports claim the former Spain job is close to the exit door. Madrid have scored just one goal in their last five outings, so they will be hoping that a win tonight could give them some confidence going forward.
Plzen have been in much better form than their rivals, with Pavel Vrba's side winning three of their last five. They were hammered 5-0 in their last Champions League clash, but they did pick up a draw in week one against CSKA.
VIKTORIA PLZEN XI (4-2-3-1): Ales Hruska; Radim Reznik, Lukas Hejda, Roman Hubnik (c), David Limbersky; Patrik Hrosovsky, Roman Prochazka; Milan Havel, Ales Cermak, Milan Petrzela; Michal Krmencik.
Plzen subs: Pavel Bucha, Ubong Ekpai, Tomas Chory, Jakub Reznicek, Ludek Pernica, Tomas Horava, Matus Kozacik.
Good evening and welcome to tonight's live coverage of the Champions League encounter between Real Madrid and Viktoria Plzen from Group G. Both of these teams lost their match in the competition so let's hope for a good response from both at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid subs: Vinicius Junior, Thibaut Courtois, Mariano Diaz, Federico Valverde, Marco Asensio, Alvaro Odriozola, Raphael Varane.
REAL MADRID XI (4-3-3): Keylor Navas; Lucas Vazquez, Nacho Fernandez, Sergio Ramos (c), Marcelo; Luka Modric, Casemiro, Toni Kroos; Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Isco.
Madrid will be confident they can soon start to kill the game once they get a second but Plzen have shown they can be a real threat on the counter. Bring on the second half.
Benzema's header in the 11th minute is the difference in this Group G clash, but we really could have had six goals already tonight. Although Plzen should have conceded the majority of them, they have had three opportunities of their own. How it is still 1-0 is anyone’s guess!
That is all for tonight folks, thanks for tuning in. Goodbye!
Roma beat CSKA 3-0 in the other game, but Madrid sit top of the pile after three games in Europe. Lopetegui may now get the chance to take on Barcelona at the weekend but the pressure is still rife in the capital.
