We're underway at Turf Moor.
Burnley return to Premier League action after being dumped out of the Europa League at the hands of Olympiacos. The Clarets are yet to record their first win of the season, having drawn their opening match of the term against Southampton before being thrashed by Watford and Fulham over the last two weeks. Sean Dyche needs a performance from his team this afternoon to avert their underwhelming start.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Burnley and Manchester United at Turf Moor.
Speaking of underwhelming starts, Jose Mourinho is in dire need of a victory from his side this afternoon. Manchester United have suffered back-to-back defeats in the top flight and a third on the bounce would make life extremely difficult for the Portuguese. They were outbattled by Brighton at the Amex Stadium, while Tottenham's quality in the second half at Old Trafford blew them away. The Red Devils have to hit back at Turf Moor.
Let's take a look at the two teams this afternoon, starting with the Clarets.
BURNLEY (4-4-1-1): Joe Hart; Phil Bardsley, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor; Aaron Lennon, Ashley Westwood, Jack Cork, Dwight McNeil; Jeff Hendrick; Chris Wood.
Burnley subs: Tom Heaton, Matt Lowton, Sam Vokes, Ashley Barnes, Stephen Ward, Matej Vydra, Kevin Long.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-3-3): David de Gea; Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw; Marouane Fellaini, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba; Jesse Lingard, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez.
Manchester United subs: Eric Bailly, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Lee Grant, Fred, Ashley Young, Ander Herrera.
Burnley have made four changes from their draw against Olympiacos during the week. Hart, Tarkowski, Wood and Cork come into the fold, with Long Barnes, Vokes and Heaton dropping to the bench. Bardsley is preferred to Lowton at right-back against his former club.
Mourinho has made three changes to the side that was beaten 3-0 by Spurs. Phil Jones' hamstring injury has ruled him out of action, which sees Lindelof partner Smalling in the defence. Fellaini and Sanchez replace Fred and Herrera, giving United strength and skill in the line-up.
Romelu Lukaku's brace has handed Manchester United a 2-0 lead at the break against Burnley at Turf Moor. United have been allowed to dicate play in the contest as the home side have been far too passive. Lukaku handed his team the lead when he converted Alexis Sanchez's cross at the back post, heading his effort beyond the reach of Joe Hart. His second was fortuitous, although the Belgian displayed predatory instincts to pounce on a rebound to find the back of the net.
It's going to be a long way back for Burnley. United's defence has looked extremely shaky in the opening weeks of the campaign, but the Clarets have barely put them to the test. Sean Dyche will have to make changes to get his team back into the contest.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Manchester United bounce back from their defeats at the hands of Brighton and Tottenham with a composed performance to see off Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor. Romelu Lukaku notched both goals in the first half and could have had a hat-trick, only to miss an open goal late on. There was drama as Paul Pogba missed from the penalty spot, while Marcus Rashford received the first red card of his career for headbutting Phil Bardsley. There's no shortage of controversy around United at the moment, but for Mourinho at least there's an improved display to talk about. Burnley's poor start to the season continues they were lacklustre from the off and didn't lay a glove on the visitors. It will be a concern for Sean Dyche, heading into the second month of the term.
