We're underway at the Amex Stadium.
BRIGHTON (4-4-1-1): Mat Ryan; Martin Montoya, Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk, Gaetan Bong; Anthony Knockaert, Dale Stephens, Davy Propper, Solly March; Pascal Gross, Glenn Murray.
Let's take a look at the two teams this afternoon, starting with the home side.
Jose Mpurinho's side began their season at home against Leicester. Paul Pogba's penalty ensured that the Red Devils got off to a bright start, although they were far from perfect at Old Trafford. Luke Shaw's first senior goal secured the three points even though Jamie Vardy did send pulses racing with a late strike. The Portuguese will be demanding a stronger performance at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton began the campaign last week with a defeat at the hands of Watford. Chris Hughton's men were downed by a brace from Roberto Pereyra, who scored either side of half-time at Vicarage Road. The Seagulls need a response on home soil this afternoon, although it will be an extremely tough challenge against United.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Brighton and Manchester United at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton subs: Beram Kayal, Yves Bissouma, Jurgen Locadia, Leon Balogun, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, David Button, Bernardo.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-3-3): David de Gea; Ashley Young, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw; Fred, Andreas Pereira, Paul Pogba; Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial.
Manchester United subs Marcus Rashford, Chris Smalling, Lee Grant, Jesse Lingard, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini, Scott McTominay.
Brighton make two changes from their defeat to Watford. Both are in the full-back positions as Bong and Montoya come into the side, with the latter making his debut for the side following a move from Valencia during the summer. Murray continues to lead the line with Gross in support.
Mourinho has made three changes from the side that won on the opening day. Young comes into the side to replace Matteo Darmian at right-back, while Lukaku and Martial are given the nod to start, with Rashford dropping to the bench. Alexis Sanchez misses out altogether due to injury.
Gross scored the only goal of the game for Brighton in their 1-0 win in May, which guided the Seagulls' to safety last term. Hughton would relish a repeat performance this afternoon.
Not many people would have predicted this scoreline at half-time before the match. Brighton have been excellent in the final third to put a woeful Manchester United side to the sword in the opening 45 minutes. Glenn Murray got the home side off and running with a fine finish from close range, flicking the ball past David de Gea. Shane Duffy extended their advantage with a composed effort following a corner. Romelu Lukaku got off the mark for the term as he headed home, but an error from Eric Bailly allowed Pascal Gross to score from the spot before the break to leave the Seagulls in command.
Jose Mourinho was visibly fuming on the bench with the exploits of his side at the back. The Portuguese faces a massive teamtalk ahead of him at half-time to get his side into shape at the back. Chris Hughton will be asking more of the same from his team, who must maintain their intensity.
Brighton get off the mark in their Premier League campaign with a fine 3-2 victory over Manchester United. Goals from Glenn Murray, Shane Duffy and Pascal Gross secured the win, which was relatively comfortable for the home side, despite goals from Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba for the Red Devils. Chris Hughton's men produced a strong level of intensity in the first half to overpower United, while they kept them at bay for the majority of the second half. Jose Mourinho will be furious with his side's display, which was sloppy in the first half and then ineffectual in the final third in the second period. The Portuguese will not be a happy man tonight.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
