B. Sako enters the game and replaces A. Townsend.
Substitution : Frustration boils over between Zaha and McClean as they come to blows right in front of the Albion supporters on the touchline. With Bakary Sako brought on to replace Andros Townsend, perhaps Hodgson wants to snatch a late winner here.
85'
The hosts have undoubtedly been the better team here and look the only side likely to find a winner. New Albion boss Pardew is pushing the boundaries of his technical area giving any encouragement he can to his players.

CLOSE! Rondon does well to wrestle two Palace defenders off the ball and get a header at goal. Unfortunately for the venezuelan international, he sees it flash wide of the left-hand post.

Description
76'
J. Ward gets yellow.
Yellow card: ...Palace do find some momentum down the left. Following a desparate clearance from Evans, Ward is booked as West Brom looked to break.
74'
Around 15 minutes of regulation time remain for either of these sides to find a winner. In truth, Hodgson must be disappointed at his side's failure to cause the wobbly Albion defence as many issues as they did in the first half.
72'
J. McClean enters the game and replaces H. Robson-Kanu.
Substitution: That miss was Robson-Kanu's last opportunity to impress his new boss today, he'll be replaced by James McClean.
70'
Field again causing problems down the left as he slips in a delightful through-ball to Robson-Kanu. Albion's summer signing fails to really stretch Speroni in the Palace goal, who makes a comfortable save.
68'
The majority of chances have stemmed from set-pieces today, but Palace are showing why they haven't won a game by more than one goal in the Premier League since April. Poor deliveries for Benteke have been a theme this afternoon, with Palace not testing Foster this half.
66'
Pardew talks tactics with James McClean on the touchline hoping perhaps the Irishman can provide that spark of quality to grab that all-important winning goal.
64'
J. Livermore gets yellow.
Yellow card: Jake Livermore is punished with a booking for a tough challenge on Luka Milivojevic .
63'
Field again finds himself unmarked at the back post but he's denied by a fantastic sliding block from Ward. This has been a match void of an end product when it matters.
60'
It's anyone's game here at the Hawthorns on the hour-mark with both sides guilty of missing clear chances around the six-yard box. Nyom's long throw is flicked on to Rodriguez but he loses the aerial battle with Hegaz and the ball is cleared.
57'
CHANCE! Following Evans critical clearance at the other end, Jay Rodriguez with the best opportunity of the match. Through one-on-one with Foster, his shot cannons back off the keeper's legs from eight yards out. Will West Brom be made to rue that?
55'
Taking advantage of a gap in the Baggies midfield left by the stricken Sam Field, the ball is worked to the left wing and hit low into the box only for Evans to deny Benteke a tap in with a last-ditch clearance.
52'
West Brom don't have a player in their ranks with more than two goals this season and it's showing in this game. Just like the first half, they have dominated the opening preceedings but have failed to penetrate a weak Palace back line.
49'
Youngster Sam Field finds space entering the box late at the back post but his first-time volley is well blocked. Alan Pardew will be pleased with how his side have responded following the interval.
47'
A similar pattern to the beginning of the first half with West Brom coming out strong. Gibbs' cross from the left falls into the hands of Speroni.
46'
The hosts get us underway in the second half with both sides knowing this would be an incredibly important three points as they look to hunt down that illusive 40 point target.
45'
The hosts are currently pinned back into their own half as Rodriguez is forced to defend on his own byline! Another Palace corner finds Zaha at the back post but his effort is fired well over causing no danger to Speroni's goal.
43'
Still looking for his first Premier League goal of the season, that missed headed opportunity will stay in the mind of Benteke for sure. It seems as though Alan Pardew's new outfit West Brom would be happy to hear the half time whistle at the minute.
40'
Benteke finally sees some involvement. He showed great footwork to slalom through three players on the edge of the box. His shot from six yards is cleared behind for a corner, which the striker heads into the hands of Foster.
37'
McArthur finds some time on the ball in the middle of the park, he finds Joel Ward in space on the right but his cross is well blocked before he can find Benteke lurking in the box. The Belgian striker is yet to really feature in this contest so far.
35'
Following the Baggies lively start at the Hawthorns it's now the visitors who look more likely, looking for the long ball to Zaha at every opportunity. The Claret and Blue clad fans in the away end can sense it too!
32'
A free kick in a dangerous position for Palace is headed behind for a corner by Allan Nyom. Referee Oliver isn't the most popular man among those of a Palace persuasion, who feel he should have awarded them a penalty prior to the free kick for a challenge on Andros Townsend by Evans.
30'
C. Yacob enters the game and replaces G. Barry.
Substitution: Barry went into a hefty challenge prior to being taken off, he is replaced by Claudio Yacob.
28'
The West Brom fans are starting to show their frustration. A culmination of not winning a league game since August and some poor quality deliveries into the box is hampering their progress.
25'
Leading West Brom to a 10th place finish in 2012 before going to England job, Hodgson will be much happier with his side's last 10 minutes here. They've also managed to dampen down a lively atmosphere in the Midlands.
22'
A scrappy period of the game with Hodgson's side working their way back into the game. Zaha is clearly the visitor's dangerman with Jonny Evans deflected his goalbound effort over. Zaha is then livid with referee Michael Oliver feeling he was bundled over breaking into the box.
19'
West Brom continue to have the better of this contest. Rodriguez bustles his way to the byline, cuts inside but can't get a clear shot on goal with experienced Palace keeper Julian Speroni coming out to smother.
18'
...From the resultant corner Egyptian centre back Hegazi heads just wide. Down the other end and Zaha almost puts the visitors ahead nearly capitalising on some sloppy goalkeeping from Foster, who tried to dribble his way past the tricky winger.
15'
Vital clearance from Martin Kelly inside the Palace six-yard box! A carbon copy free kick from Barry to his previous set-piece, this time Robson-Kanu's shot is deflected over for a series of West Brom corners.
14'
Palace have speny the majority of the opening 15 minutes under the cosh here, but most sides would struggle to contain Wilfred Zaha at full throttle. The former Manchester United winger storms into the box forcing a good save from Ben Foster at his near post.
12'
Robson-Kanu again causing problems down the right for the hosts. Barry whips a better ball into the box this time but Jay Rodriguez can't direct his header on target.
9'
CHANCE! Glaring opportunity for Welsh international Hal Robson-Kanu. Kieran Gibbs pulls the ball back into the box from the left wing, the ball eventually falls to the onrushing Robson-Kanu who spoons his shot over the bar from 10 yards.
7'
Deep cross to the far post looking for Benteke is headed clear for Salomon Rondon, with the Baggies striker eventually wining a corner for his side, subsequently wasted by Gareth Barry as he wildly overhits it.
5'
No efforts on target as of yet with West Brom having the better of possession. An opportunity to break down the left for Palace is cut out by Ahmed Hegazi.
3'
A tame opening to this high-pressure match at the base of the Premier League. A warm welcome afforded to new Baggies boss Alan Pardew, with both managers today facing former employers.
1'
KICK OFF: A reshuffled pack at the back for Palace with Scott Dann a late absentee due to illness. Their figurehead Christian Benteke gets us underway at the Hawthorns.
Welcome to our LIVE text commentary from the Hawthorns of this vitally important clash between Premier League strugglers West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace.
West Brom XI (4-3-3): Foster; Gibbs, Evans, Hegazi, Nyom; Livermore, Barry, Field; Rodriguez, Robson-Kanu, Rondon.
Alan Pardew returns to Premier League life hoping to resurrect West Bromwich Albion's season following a dismal run of no wins in 12. Looking shaky at the back on a weekly basis, they haven't managed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine.
Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace remain without Yohan Cabaye as they look to lift themselves off the bottom of the table. Their mid-week draw at Brighton was the first point collected on the road this season for the Eagles.
Conceding at least two in each of their last four games, new Albion manager Pardew will at least be pleased to see his Baggies side put in a resolute defensive performance to deny an impressive Zaha. No win since August will put added pressure on the hosts, who could look to the attacking options of James McClean or Oliver Burke on the bench.
West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Crystal Palace: On a day of reunions at the Hawthorns we are yet to see any action on the scoresheet thanks mainly to glaring misses at either end from Benteke and Robson-Kanu.
Following their first point on the road at Brighton on Tuesday, could basement boys Palace be on course for another point haul on their travels? Keeper Speroni hasn't looked too troubled in his 14th season at Selhurst Park, while Hodgson will hope Benteke can grab his first Premier League goal since April.
FULL TIME: West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Crystal Palace - Alan Pardew fails to inspire his new Baggies side to victory in his first match in charge as his West Brom side failed to find a way past experienced Palace keeper Julian Speroni.
Close range opportunities spawned by Hal Robson-Kanu and a Salomon Rondon header were as close as the hosts came in a match they dominated bar a 20-minute spell late in the first half. West Brom remain in 17th position.
While Roy Hodgson's side were presented with glaring chances in front of goal themselves with Benteke missing a free header, they are still to score on the road this season. However, the former England boss will seek positives from a second consecutive clean sheet in a matter of days. They climb two spots to 18th.
