A half-chance for Hamburg to grab a consolation goal now as Hahn, who has looked as lively as anyone for the home side, picks out a completely unmarked Holtby in the middle with a cross, but the ball is fractionally too high for the midfielder and it skims off the top of his head and away from danger.
88'
Dortmund certainly don’t seem intent to sit back and settle for a 3-0 scoreline here although they are now in total control of the game.
86'
CLOSE!! Sahin very nearly adds a fourth as his 20-yard effort deflects off Papadopoulos and loops narrowly wide of the Hamburg goal with Mathenia scrambling across the six yard box.
84'
J. Bruun Larsen enters the game and replaces D. Zagadou.
V. Janjičić enters the game and replaces B. Wood.
A final change for Dortmund now as the exciting young prospect Jacob Bruun Larsen comes on to replace Zagadou.
Wood’s somewhat frustrating evening also comes to an end as he becomes the third and final Hamburg player to make way. Vasilije Janjičić comes on to replace him.
81'
Holtby rather sums up Hamburg’s evening as he blasts the ball over the bar with a left-footed shot from 25 yards out. The home side have not been completely outclassed in this game but they have failed to offer any real threat to Burki’s goal.
79'
C. Pulišić has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by Mahmoud Dahoud.
Dahoud played the pass into Pulisic to score, although the referee did use VAR to check for offside before confirming that goal.
GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! Pulisic has been outstanding today and he surely wraps up the three points for Dortmund as he slides the ball past Mathenia and into the far corner from 10 yards out having been played in with a neat pass from the substitute Dahoud.
78'
Wood looks to bring the ball down as it drops over his shoulder, but his touch lets him down and the ball bounces out of play. The striker has shown glimpses of his talent but has been largely frustrated in this second half.
76'
L. Holtby gets yellow.
Holtby becomes the latest player to be shown a yellow card, this time for dissent after the referee had actually awarded Hamburg a free-kick.
HUGE CHANCE FOR AUBAMEYANG!!! The striker is played clean through on goal and has all the time he wants to pick his spot with only Mathenia to beat from 12 yards out, but he rolls the ball past the right-hand post and perhaps keeps Hamburg in this game, albeit only just.
74'
Peter Bosz looks to be pretty relaxed in his technical area at the minute as Sokratis heads away Holtby’s deep cross with ease.
72'
Chance!! Close again for Hamburg as Hahn gets away into space down the right-hand edge of the penalty area after Dortmund had given the ball away cheaply, but rather than drilling the ball across goal towards where support was arriving, the midfielder blasts the ball into the side-netting at the near post.
Minute
Description
70'
L. Waldschmidt enters the game and replaces S. Salihović.
Hamburg are also making their second change in an attempt to get back into the game, with Salihovic, who is perhaps lacking match fitness having only signed for the club as a free agent in the summer, going off to be replaced by Gian-Luca Waldschmidt.
69'
All the noise is now coming from the 5,000 strong Dortmund fans in the away end. They sense their side has control of this game now with that two goal cushion.
67'
M. Philipp enters the game and replaces A. Yarmolenko.
Maximilian Philipp also comes on, replacing the lively Yarmolenko who has caused Hamburg all sorts of problems down that right-hand side.
66'
Mahmoud Dahoud enters the game and replaces S. Kagawa.
A double chance for Dortmund now, the first of which sees Mahmoud Dahoud come on in place of Kagawa in the middle of midfield.
65'
Hamburg are certainly not giving up and Hahn tries his luck with a well-struck effort from the edge of the box, but he’s unable to test Burki who watches the ball fly over his bar.
63'
P. Aubameyang has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund!
GOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! Dortmund add a second!! Pulisic breaks forward and pace and feeds Yarmolenko inside the right-hand edge of the penalty area, allowing the winger to shift the ball onto his right foot before rolling it across the face of goal, where Aubameyang has the simple task of tapping the ball in from about half a yard out.
60'
Close! The game is starting to open up now and Hamburg come close to drawing level as Salihovic swings in a superb, inswinging, left-footed cross from the right-hand side and Walace arrives late at the far post, but he’s just unable to reach the ball when any sort of contact may well have been enough to beat Burki from close range.
59'
The Ukrainian whips in a wonderful cross with pace on it towards the near post, but Zagadou can’t flick it on and Hamburg clear.
58'
Yarmolenko wins a free-kick just outside the right-hand edge of the penalty area after being brought down by Holtby. This is a good position for the away side and Yarmolenko will step up to take the free-kick himself.
56'
Dortmund are just trying to establish a bit of control now with a sustained spell of possession as Hamburg look to be growing in confidence, and the noise levels from their fans are certainly not dropping either.
54'
CLOSE!! With the exception of that chance for Pulisic, Hamburg will be pretty pleased with the first few minutes of this second period and Mavraj, who has taken the armband since Sakai’s departure, fires a powerful shot into the side-netting from a tight angle after Burki had failed to deal with a low, driven cross from the right-hand side.
52'
Hahn is penalised for offside as he breaks away into the Dortmund half down the right-hand side. He doesn’t look to happy about it but replays suggest that was an excellent decision from the assistant referee.
50'
The Hamburg skipper has gone straight to the bench to sit down and doesn’t look to be in any discomfort so it’s still unclear as to whether or not that was an injury enforced substitution, as Papadopoulos very nearly gifts the ball to Aubameyang with a weak back pass.
48'
Douglas Santos enters the game and replaces G. Sakai.
An early substitution for Hamburg in this second period now, and one can only assume it's due to an injury as Sakai goes off to be replaced by Douglas Santos.
47'
Chance! A really bright start to the second half for Dortmund almost results in a second goal as Pulisic lays the ball off to Yarmolenko down the left-hand side and he cuts a low cross back into the American winger, but he fails to connect with his first-time shot and Hamburg clear the ball away.
46'
Kick-off! Aubameyang gets the second half underway for Dortmund.
45' +1
There’s going to be just one minute of added time at the end of this half.
44'
Dortmund look as though they could do with half-time now as Hamburg have looked far more threatening in the last five minutes or so, although they haven’t created any clear cut chances as yet.
42'
More appeals for a Hamburg penalty as Salihovic heads the ball against Castro’s arm, but once again the referee isn’t interested, and rightly so as the Dortmund player’s arm was down by his side.
39'
HUGE CHANCE!!! Yarmolenko may be playing well but he wastes a wonderful chance for Dortmund as he runs onto a loose ball on the edge of the penalty box and blasts a left-footed effort over the bar, despite having Castro completely unmarked and with a clean sight on goal to his left.
37'
Yarmolenko is having a huge impact on this game at the moment and with Hamburg’s left-back, Sakai, having already been booked, Peter Bosz will be hoping he can continue to cause problems.
35'
SAVE!!! Mathenia is a pretty busy man at the moment and he keeps the score at 1-0 with another wonderful save, springing away high to his left to turn the ball around the post after Yarmolenko’s cross had been flicked on towards his own goal by Mavraj.
33'
Save!! Lovely football from Dortmund who work the ball into the penalty box through Kagawa and Yarmolenko, and having initially lost the ball the Ukrainian wins it back and slips a neat pass into Pulisic, who draws a smart, low save from Mathenia.
31'
G. Sakai gets yellow.
Sakai becomes the second player to go into the referee’s book following a foul on Yarmolenko. It looks as though he may have slipped as he went in to make that challenge, but he can have few complaints as it was a rash challenge.
SAVE!!! The best chance of the game so far for Hamburg falls to Hahn as he arrives late to meet Holtby’s delightful cross from the left-hand side with a powerful header eight yards out, but Burki gets down quickly to his right to push the ball away.
29'
A half-chance for Hamburg now as Wood looks to be in behind the Dortmund defence and clean through on goal, but the bouncing ball allows Toprak to track back and ease the American striker off the ball, allowing it to roll through into the arms of Burki.
27'
There are appeals for handball against Sahin from Dennis Diekmeier’s cross and Hahn is screaming in the assistant referee’s face, but neither him nor the referee are interested in using the VAR to take another look.
24'
S. Kagawa has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by Ö. Toprak.
Toprak did well to climb above Walace at the far post, and headed the ball into a dangerous area for Kagawa to prod the ball home.
GOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLL!!!! Yarmolenko stands up the free-kick towards the back post and Omer Toprak heads the ball down into the six yard box, where Shinji Kagawa is waiting to poke the ball into the roof of the net from close range.
23'
Dortmund are starting to assert some control on this game now as Holtby gives away another foul in a dangerous area, this time close to the right-hand corner flag in the Hamburg half.
21'
Chance! A half-chance for Dortmund from the free-kick as Walace makes a real mess of clearing the second ball and it bounces up for Lukasz Piszczek, but the full-back is unable to make a clean connection with his left footed shot and Mathenia makes a comfortable save.
20'
K. Papadopoulos gets yellow.
The first yellow card of the day goes to Kyriakos Papadopoulos for bringing down Pulisic on the left-hand edge of the penalty area.
19'
Burki is called into action almost for the first time today as Walace hits an ambitious 35-yard effort which, despite taking a deflection, is straight down the throat of the Dortmund goalkeeper who gathers it in with ease.
17'
OFF THE POST!! Dortmund come within inches of taking the lead as Aubameyang climbs highest to meet Yarmolenko’s cross six yards out from goal, but his near post header flicks the outside of the post with Mathenia well beaten.
15'
Markus Gisdol is furious on the touchline as Yarmolenko fouls his captain, Gotoku Sakai. The referee does award the home side a free-kick though despite it being little more than a coming together in truth.
13'
The flag goes up against Hahn as he breaks forward towards goal following a neat flick from Wood. Replays suggest that the midfielder was comfortably offside but that moment has certainly given the home fans a lift.
12'
Nearly a disaster at the back for Hamburg as they give the ball away cheaply 35 yards out from their own goal and Yarmolenko drives forward with Aubameyang up in support, but the winger is unable to pick out either the striker or Pulisic who is arriving late, and the home side clear the ball away to safety.
10'
There’s a stoppage in play now as Mergim Mavraj is down receiving treatment midway through his own half. He's taken a nasty blow to the face but looks set to continue.
8'
CHANCE!!! A big chance goes begging for Dortmund as Pulisic makes space for himself inside the penalty area having been given the ball by Aubameyang, but he can only side-foot the ball past the left-hand post from 12 yards out.
6'
Dan-Axel Zagadou attacks the corner at the near post and gets a good connection on the header, but he can’t keep it down and Christian Mathenia watches it balloon high over his goal.
5'
Dortmund win the first corner of the game as Gonzalo Castro’s attempted pass into the box deflects off Gideon Sakai and out of play.
3'
It’s been a pretty even start to this game with neither side committing too many bodies forward, although Christian Pulisic thinks he away into space down the left-hand side, only to be pulled up for a foul on Andre Hahn.
1'
Kick-off! Hamburg get the game underway.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Bundesliga game between Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund at the Volksparkstadion.
Hamburg made a strong start to the season, winning their first two games against Augsburg and Koln, scoring four goals in the process.
However they have since lost two consecutive games, to RB Leipzig and Hannover, both by a 2-0 score line, which has seen them drop to ninth in the table.
Dortmund, in contrast, have made an impressive start to the season having won three and drawn one of their first four games, and a win today could see them move back to the top of the table, depending on other results.
The most recent of those wins was a 5-0 thrashing of bottom club Koln, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring a second half brace to take his league tally of goals for the season to four.
Hamburg include former Spurs midfielder Lewis Holtby in their starting line-up, and manager Markus Gisdol will be hoping he can provide the creative spark for lone striker Bobby Wood.
Dortmund meanwhile look as though they’re going to start with a front three, and a dangerous looking one at that with Christian Pulisic and Andriy Yarmolenko either side of the in-form Aubameyang through the middle.
Dortmund secured a league double over Hamburg in 2016/17, scoring eight goals in total with a 3-0 win at home and a 5-2 win in this fixture last year.
The players are making their way out onto the pitch, kick-off is not far away now.
Half-time: Hamburg 0-1 Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund lead at the break thanks to Kagawa’s close range goal, and although they could have added a couple more with Pulisic and Yarmolenko both wasting promising positions, Hamburg are certainly not out of this game.
Dortmund manager Peter Bosz will feel that if his side can get a second goal early in the second half they should be able to see the game through, but the longer the game remains at 1-0 the more hopeful the hosts will become of taking something from this game, as Dortmund have not looked totally assured at the back.
Full-time: Hamburg 0-3 Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund move back to the top of the Bundesliga table with a comfortable win at the Volksparkstadion as Peter Bosz becomes the first manager ever to achieve a clean sheet in his first five Bundesliga games.
That’s all from us for today, thanks for joining us and we hope you can join us again soon.
