Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of this afternoon’s Premier League clash between Swansea City and Stoke City.
The build-up to this game has seen Swans boss Paul Clement issue a rallying cry to his players as he looks to reverse the rotten form of his relegation threatened team.
Clement’s confidence will be boosted by the knowledge that Stoke have an abysmal record on the road this season, having won just once in their last nine away games, but Mark Hughes’ side represent an unpredictable adversary.
In the immediate aftermath of last week’s defeat to Watford Clement described this match as a ‘must win’, and given the South Wales side have been defeated five times in their last six matches it is easy to see why the manager is placing such importance on this fixture.
Xherdan Shaqiri’s wonder-strike assured a victory for Stoke against Hull last weekend, and highlighted the quality within the squad, but manager Hughes will be keen for his player’s to push on and produce a strong finish to the campaign.
The teams are in, so let’s take a look starting with hosts Swansea…
Stoke City XI (4-4-2): Butland, Johnson, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters, Shaqiri, Allan, Cameron, Arnautovic, Berahino, Crouch
Swansea City XI (4-3-3): Fabianksi, Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Kingsley, Fer, Britton, Carroll, Ayew, Llorente, Sigurdsson
Swansea Subs: Ki Sung-yueng, van der Hoorn, Bastón, Nordfeld, Montero, Narsingh, Roberts
Stoke Subs: Bardsley, Muniesa, Whelan, Adam, Diouf, Sobhi, Grant
Swansea are without Jack Cork as the midfielder continues to recover from an ankle problem meaning Swans veteran Leon Britton comes into the team. Stoke welcome back goalkeeper Jack Butland from his lengthy spell on the sidelines. The young goalkeeper replaces Lee Grant between the sticks.
The two teams emerge from the tunnel to the soundtrack of a roaring Liberty Stadium crowd. This is a game of massive importance for the Welsh club, and kick-off is just moments away.
HALF-TIME: Swansea 1-0 Stoke
Paul Clement asked for a big performance and so far he has got it. Fernando Llorente's headed goal represented the dream start for Swansea, and since then they have pushed on and continued to cause Stoke problems. Jack Butland has looked unsteady on a handful of occasions, but has managed to keep the defecit to one goal. Stoke's best chances have fallen to Saido Berahino but he has been unable to capitalise either time.
The teams are back out on the pitch and the second half is about to begin...
FULL TIME: Swansea City 2-0 Stoke City
That is all from me today, I hope to see you again next time!
A very important victory for Swansea City, who produced a proffessional performance against an abject Stoke City. Fernando Llorente's early goal set the tone and Paul Clement's side remained in control for most of the game. A crucial two minute window in the second haf decided the game, as Marko Arnautovic missed a penalty shortly before Tom Carroll's deflected strike esured victory for The Swans.
