Liverpool appear out of ideas and frustration has set in now as they're stuck back in their end. It doesn't look like there's a winner to be had here.
90'
There will be three minutes added on at the end of this match.
89'
There's plenty of fighting spirit left in this Newcastle side, as they keep their shape and try to see this one out. Liverpool are continuing to force the issue, in desperate need of the extra two points to keep their outside chance at a top-four finish alive.
87'
CRUCIAL BLOCK! Ojo's fresh legs are causing the Magpies a few problems. The substitute makes strides down the right and pulls it back for Coutinho, but the Brazilian doesn't make clean contact with his first-time effort as Anita gets a block in.
85'
Newcastle have given little opportunity for Mitrovic to try and find a winner, as they're being pegged back in their own end. It looks almost as though they've shut up shop to try and preserve the point, but that's a dangerous game to play against Klopp's side who never seem to be lacking in late drama.
83'
J. Shelvey enters the game and replaces C. Tioté.
S. Ojo enters the game and replaces A. Lallana.
Klopp makes his final change as Lallana gives way for Oluwaseyi Ojo.
Jonjo Shelvey's introduction is met by a warm applause from the fans of his former club, as the midfielder replaces Cheick Tiote for the final moments.
81'
STAT: The Magpies have won just three of their last 30 Premier League away matches (W3, D3, L24), losing the last nine in a row.
79'
WASTED OPPORTUNITY! Newcastle have so many bodies packed inside their own penalty area in defence, that no one is on hand to close down on the latest clearance attempt. Stewart is able to get on the end of it and has a free shot at goal from 25 yards out, but he skies his effort!
77'
What a finish we are in store for at Anfield! It's perfectly poised now and there's just no telling which way this game will tilt over the final 15 minutes or so. Liverpool continue to enjoy more possession, but they're hardly looking very threatening.

Description
75'
A. Mitrović enters the game and replaces P. Cissé.
The visitors make their second change of the afternoon and it elicits quite a roar of approval from the traveling supporters as Aleksandar Mitrovic is brought on to replace Papiss Cisse.
72'
Lucas Leiva enters the game and replaces J. Allen.
The second change brings Lucas Leiva into the match at the expense of Joe Allen.
71'
Philippe Coutinho enters the game and replaces C. Randall.
A pair of changes are made by Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool look to restore their lead. The first of them sees Philippe Coutinho replace Conor Randall in what is quite the attack-minded swap.
70'
STAT: Newcastle had scored just three goals in their last nine Premier League trips to Anfield before today.
68'
What a day this is turning into for Newcastle! Left dead in the water after 45 minutes, they've turned the game on its head and are on course for their first points away from home in 2016! Rafa Benitez is carving out yet another Anfield memory - only this time he's on the opposite touchline.
66'
J. Colback has scored a goal for Newcastle United! Assist by G. Wijnaldum.
THE GREAT ESCAPE IS ON! From two goals down, Newcastle are level in Merseyside! Townsend's cross isn't adequately dealt with by Lovren, who knocks his clearing header into the path of Colback, and the midfielder bounces a finish - with the aid of a deflection - beyond Mignolet!
Assist Georginio Wijnaldum
64'
Despite lacking a bit of quality in the final third, Newcastle are pressing much better in midfield. They have a spring in their step and continue to grow into the game with each passing minute. It's really starting to open up now, and the next goal - a massive one at that - is going to prove so important.
62'
Continuing on the front foot is Liverpool in search of a third, with Newcastle struggling to pick out a good final ball on the counter. They're giving possession back cheaply to the Reds after winning it back, and it may very well be time for a second change from Rafa Benitez, who has Aleksandar Mitrovic and Siem de Jong available off the bench.
60'
LIVERPOOL HAVE A THIRD... BUT IT'S CALLED BACK! Milner puts in some good work before delivering an even better cross into the area. Allen gets on the end of it, and his header is saved awkwardly by Darlow who spills the rebound for Firmino to knock in, but the Brazilian was offside!
58'
Liverpool have responded well since conceding, but they are showing one or two signs of vulnerability. They really do need a third goal here to make life easier on themselves through the final half hour.
56'
STAT: Newcastle have yet to pick up a point on their travels in the Premier League in 2016. Their last came in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham on December 13.
54'
Sissoko does well to get on the end of a free-kick, but his decision-making lets him down in the end. The midfielder doesn't generate enough power behind his header, but still opts to send an effort at goal instead of knocking it back across the face for a team-mate.
53'
J. Milner gets yellow.
Milner is booked for a clear foul 30 yards out, and this will present the visitors with a chance from the ensuing free-kick.
52'
BIG CHANCE FOR THE MAGPIES! After Sturridge's penalty appeals are denied at one end, Newcastle break in numbers. Wijnaldum plays in Cisse, but a pair of awkward touches from the striker prevents him from getting a shot off. He manages to lay it off still for Townsend, but the winger lifts an effort over the bar with the keeper stranded!
50'
Liverpool started the second half where they left off in the first, but one seemingly harmless attack has made life a bit uncomfortable for them all of a sudden. Is this a sign of things to come over the final 45 minutes?
48'
P. Cissé has scored a goal for Newcastle United! Assist by V. Anita.
Anita picks up an assist to go with his vital goal in midweek.
NEWCASTLE HAVE LIFE! Out of nothing, the Magpies cut the deficit in half! Anita lifts a cross in from the right that hangs in the air for some time, but Mignolet can't deal with it, allowing Cisse to head in at the far post with the keeper caught in no-man's land!
46'
G. Wijnaldum enters the game and replaces Ayoze Pérez.
Rafa Benitez makes one change at the break, bringing Georginio Wijnaldum into the fray with Perez giving way.
Back underway at Anfield!
45' +3
HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 2-0 NEWCASTLE.
45' +2
The Magpies do manage to spend a bit of time in the final third, but it's so sloppy and almost forced. They have to work harder just to keep the ball, which is preventing them from asking any questions of the Liverpool defence.
45'
There will be three minutes added on at the end of the first half.
44'
Newcastle need a moment of inspiration at the end of this first half - anything to give them a bit of confidence heading into the break. There should be a decent amount of time added on following the injury stoppages for Moreno and Lovren.
42'
STAT: Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five league matches at home (W3, D2).
40'
NEAR DISASTER! Darlow's attempted throw out from the back is blocked by Sturridge, but the deflection doesn't have enough pace on it to run all the way into the net, as the keeper manages to recover and collect. What exactly was he thinking though?
38'
The real issue for the Magpies is they're lacking in numbers when they do get the ball forward. Whether it's Townsend, Perez or Cisse, whoever has the ball in the final third is always going at it alone. They have to start forcing the issue here and send bodies forward.
36'
Penalty appeals denied! Lallana, who really seems to be in the mood today, is at the heart of things again. He skips along the right edge of the penalty area and sends in a low cross which strikes the arm of Dummett. The referee has a good look and decides it would have been harsh to award the Reds a penalty there with the left-back having little time to react.
34'
Newcastle have been unable to mount a response of their own in attack, and as a result it's looking like they could be in for a long day at Anfield. The Reds are so keep to add to their lead, pushing forward at every opportunity as some tired legs start to set in at the back for the Magpies.
32'
STAT: Newcastle have scored just 11 goals in their last 23 Premier League games away from home.
30'
A. Lallana has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by Alberto Moreno.
It's a second assist on the afternoon for Moreno.
THAT IS SPECIAL! Lallana has been superb throughout this first half and he's rewarded with a goal! Moreno makes strides down the left and picks out the midfielder atop the area. Lallana takes one touch to control and a second to guide a sensational finish into the top corner!
28'
The match has entered a bit of a sticky spell, with the tempo unable to find any real consistency. It's become quite cagey in midfield, making it very difficult on either side to try and break into attack. Quite some time has passed since the last shot on goal.
26'
Newcastle, to their credit, are doing a much better job of staying organised at the back with Liverpool in possession. The Reds continue to look lively on the ball, but they're being kept to the fringes quite admirably by the visitors, who have responded well to falling behind.
24'
Townsend does well to elude Moreno and nudge the ball beyond Allen before winning Newcastle a corner. The ensuing delivery leads to possession in a very promising area, but a needless foul from Perez brings the chance to an end.
22'
C. Tioté gets yellow.
Nice work from Lallana to dribble out of his own end, before being tripped up by Tiote. The Newcastle midfielder argues against the booking, saying it's just his first foul of the day, but it's a quite cynical one.
20'
STAT: Liverpool have won 17 and lost none of their last 20 Premier League matches against Newcastle at Anfield. The Magpies’ last league victory at Anfield was a 2-0 success in April 1994.
18'
Not a bad effort! Sturridge isn't afraid to take anything on with the current form he's in. The striker takes a pass from 25 yards out, and Tiote isn't quick enough to close him down, allowing space for a shot. Sturridge almost stabs an effort at goal with the outside of his foot that doesn't miss by much.
16'
There's been a wealth of stoppages thus far for injuries, which has really taken the sting out of the match after a lively start to proceedings. It actually works in Newcastle's favour considering how strong Liverpool were coming out of the gate.
14'
Martin Skrtel is available off the bench, only just returning from injury today, and he's warming up on the touchline. His services may not be required just yet, however, as Lovren is able to walk off relatively free of any discomfort.
12'
Liverpool have another problem now as Dejan Lovren is in need of attention. He's taken an arm to the throat as has gone down rather scarily as he clutches his neck. He's likely just had the wind knocked out of him - though we'll see how it plays out.
10'
STAT: Daniel Sturridge has now netted seven goals in seven Barclays Premier League starts against Newcastle United. He has scored 51 goals in all competitions for Liverpool, despite only appearing 88 times for the club, including today.
8'
Well Moreno pops up after receiving a bit of treatment and it looks as though he'll be fine to continue. He's played a big part in Liverpool's resurgence over the past month.
6'
Worrying moments for Liverpool as Alberto Moreno goes down without any contact, and is in obvious pain as the training staff comes out to attend to him. The fact that he went down on his own isn't the most encouraging sign, but we won't jump to any conclusions here.
4'
It's a disastrous start from Newcastle, who need to correct their abysmal away form if they are to achieve Premier League survival. Though in fairness, there's just no stopping Liverpool at the moment - many have tried in recent weeks, but all have fallen victim to a Reds side with confidence coursing through their veins.
2'
D. Sturridge has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by Alberto Moreno.
It was an excellent spot by Moreno to pick out the run of Sturridge.
THE PERFECT START FOR LIVERPOOL! Anfield was booming ahead of kick-off, and it's absolutely deafening now! Sturridge controls a ball over the top from Moreno and he does so well to shield off both Dummett and Lascelles before turning and bouncing a shot into the far corner!
1'
Underway at Anfield! Rafa Benitez has many fond memories here, and today he tries to carve out another - only this time in charge of Newcastle.
Hello and welcome to live coverage from Anfield as Rafa Benitez returns to Merseyside with Newcastle continuing their fight for survival against a surging Liverpool side. The Magpies put in a second successive strong outing on Tuesday as they followed up a win against Swansea with an important point against Manchester City – a game they will feel they should have got more from. Today’s task is much more daunting, however, as they go toe-to-toe with a Liverpool side who have been ripping through their opposition over the past few weeks.
Rafa Benitez has only made one other trip to Anfield since leaving Liverpool, as Chelsea boss three years ago, in what turned out to be a memorable 2-2 draw, highlighted by Luis Suarez’s bite of Branislav Ivanovic. The Spaniard would certainly take another point today, which would serve as their first away from home in 2016, but it will be far from easy against Jurgen Klopp’s side. The Reds haven’t lost at home in the Premier League since the start of January, while Newcastle have suffered nine successive defeats on their travels in the top flight.
SUBS: Wijnaldum, De Jong, Shelvey, Aarons, Woodman, Mbabu, Mitrovic.
Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring after just over 60 seconds and the Reds didn't look back, adding another through Adam Lallana as they appear on course for a fourth successive league victory. Defeat for Newcastle, who have looked quite tame through 45 minutes, would be a massive step back in their quest for survival.
Rafa Benitez has opted not to make any changes to his team following a strong showing from his side in midweek against Manchester City. Papiss Cisse leads the line, supported by Ayoze Perez, with Moussa Sissoko and Andros Townsend on the flanks, as Georginio Wijnaldum is kept on the bench for a second match in a row and just a second time all season. Vurnon Anita contines to deputise at right-back in the absence of injured Daryl Janmaat, while Karl Darlow keeps his place in goal with Tim Krul and Rob Elliot still unavailable.
Big news out of Anfield as Mamadou Sakho is left out of the team today as UEFA investigates a possible violation of their anti-doping rules by the player. He has not been suspended, but while the process is ongoing, Liverpool have opted to keep him out of the team, with Kolo Toure taking his place this afternoon. Youngster Connor Randall also gets a chance in defence ahead of Nathaniel Clyne, while Kevin Stewart and Joe Allen replace Lucas Leiva and Philippe Coutinho in midfield. Up top, Divock Origi is out with an ankle injury suffered against Everton in midweek, paving the way for Daniel Sturridge to come in and lead the line.
That's all for our live coverage from Anfield, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
Papiss Cisse and Jack Colback inspire a spirited comeback from the Magpies as they erase a two-goal deficit at Anfield to pick up their first points away from home in 2016. It pulls them to within one point of Norwich City in their quest for survival, while the missed opportunity sees Liverpool drop to five-points back of Manchester City in their search of a top-four finish.
