We're into the first of two minutes of stoppage time. Verde whips a cross in from the right-hand side, but Bizzarri claims with ease above Ljajic.
89'
Chievo now see a penalty appeal waved away, with Roma perhaps feeling that justice has been done after Gervinho's earlier claim. Only a few minutes remain for the visitors to secure the three points, with their title hopes looking dead and buried at this point of proceedings.
88'
V. Birsa gets yellow.
Hetemaj goes down heavily, needing a second to catch his breath, with the resulting free kick allowing Chievo to pack the box with white and blue shirts! The ball is sent into the danger zone, but Roma clear, before Gervinho leads the counter and is dealt with well by Radovanovic.
86'
Roma want a penalty but the referee isn't interested! Gervinho scampers into the box before being pushed to the ground, but the match official decides that the Ivorian forward went down far too easily! Schelotto could be a lucky man there!
85'
Good effort from Meggiorini! The substitute unleashes a powerful effort from 25 yards out, but De Sanctis is able to gather up the ball with consummate ease. Chievo continue to threaten on the break.
84'
Nainggolan trips Hetemaj in the middle of the park, but the Belgian midfielder is spared his second yellow card. Chievo pump the delivery into the box from the resulting free kick, but Manolas meets it, before De Sanctis claims the second ball.
83'
R. Botta enters the game and replaces S. Pellissier.
82'
Maran makes another change, with Pellissier replaces by Botta. The Argentine has plenty of skill, technical ability and flair, so the former Inter man could pull something out of thin air to give Chievo a late lead.
80'
M. Pjanić enters the game and replaces J. Iturbe.
The free kick is dipped over the wall by Ljajic, but the ball flashes over the crossbar. Only 10 minutes remain for Roma to find a breakthrough, otherwise Napoli will be able to gain considerable ground on them.
79'
Hetemaj picks up a yellow card for a foul on Verde, bundling the young forward to the ground as he looked to find space for a shot. Ljajic stands over the resulting free kick, but play is halted for a moment as Pjanic replaces Iturbe.
Minute
Description
78'
P. Hetemaj gets yellow.
77'
Both coaches are gesticulating on the edge of their technical areas, with Maran in particular looking to keep his men organised as we head into the closing stages of this clash. Despite the Giallorossi's changes, Chievo continue to look solid and unlikely to concede before the end of this one.
75'
Good effort from Meggiorini! The substitute cuts inside from the right flank, before trying his luck from 25 yards out! De Sanctis is able to get down comfortably to his left to smother the shot.
73'
Gervinho is leading the line for the visitors, with Garcia hoping that the Ivorian's pace and trickery might unlock a couple of doors before the full-time whistle. If Roma can't find a winner and Juventus continue their good form this weekend, the Scudetto has to be considered all but secured already.
71'
Nainggolan swings a cross in from the right, but Zukanovic heads away the danger. Chievo are struggling to break out of their own half at the moment, with the Giallorossi winning plenty of throw ins and corners in threatening areas. Gervinho tries to carve a chance for himself on the edge of the box, but runs straight into trouble.
69'
Birsa tries to break down the right-hand side, but Keita comes across brilliantly to halt the move in its tracks. Roma are starting to press on and retain the ball, but Chievo are more than comfortable while sitting in two banks of four on the periphery of their box.
67'
Iturbe is involved once again, breaking at pace down the left-hand side. Bizzarri is quick off his line to smother the loose ball, as the Roma man is frustrated once again. Garcia's side are really struggling to create anything too dangerous going forward. Their play just isn't producing regular opportunities.
65'
R. Meggiorini enters the game and replaces A. Paloschi.
Iturbe fires over from the edge of the box! The Argentine takes aim from 18 yards out, but sends the ball hurtling high of the target and into the stand behind Bizzarri's goal! That was a terrible attempt.
64'
Roma are beginning to look a little bit nervy at the moment, as time is running out. Meggiorini is thrown into the fray by Maran, with Paloschi taking his leave. Those fresh legs up top might just make a vital difference on a quick break.
62'
Verde is immediately involved, earning a free kick from Hetemaj which Florenzi will float into the box. The Italy international delivers, but Chievo clear their lines with ease. Maran's side are looking slightly more dangerous at the moment, belying their league position. Scheletto sends a poor effort high and wide.
61'
D. Verde enters the game and replaces L. Paredes.
60'
A. Ljajić enters the game and replaces F. Totti.
Chievo break at pace down the right, but Roma get enough players behind the ball to stop the Flying Donkeys in their tracks. Verde and Ljajic are readied on the touchline, with the visitors needing a bit of an injection of pace and drive.
58'
Chance for Paredes! The Argentine midfielder is found overlapping on the left-hand side by Totti, but can only stroke a shot directly into the grasp of Bizzarri! That was a waste! Moments later, Birsa guides a shot just wide of the left-hand post after being picked out on the edge of the area.
57'
Half chance for Roma! Cole breaks into the penalty area and is found by Gervinho, but the former Chelsea left-back sees a shot deflected into the side netting! The resulting set piece is headed away at the near post.
55'
Izco wins a free kick from Nainggolan, with the Belgium international treading something of a disciplinary tightrope at the moment. With narrowly over half an hour left on the clock, Garcia might just be looking at his substitutes. The likes of Doumbia and Pjanic could be introduced.
53'
Chievo work the ball from right to left, before earning themselves a throw in which is hurled into the box. Pellissier is unable to flick it on, however, with De Sanctis remaining something of a spectator in the second half. Chances have been at an absolute premium since the restart, but Maran's men have had the better of play.
52'
B. Cesar gets yellow.
51'
Birsa clips a free kick into the box from the right, with the delivery enticing a couple of white and blue shirts! It zips off the turf and behind for a goal kick without contact from anyone, however! Moments later, Cesar picks up a yellow card for a cynical challenge as Roma looked to counter.
49'
Big chance for Paloschi! The Italian striker is fed in behind enemy lines, before committing De Sanctis! He cuts back a ball from the left byline, but Manolas hacks a hurried clearance away with Pellissier lurking.
48'
Roma try and break forward in the early minutes of the half, but Hetemaj is dragged to the ground by Iturbe. Doumbia might feel as though he deserves some minutes in this clash, with the likes of Iturbe and Totti struggling to have too much of an effect on proceedings.
46'
We are back underway in the second half in Verona! As it stands, the Giallorossi will only leave with a point, which isn't good enough for their title ambitions. Chievo, meanwhile, will be a point closer to securing their safety.
45' +1
We're into the first of two minutes of stoppage time.
45'
Just wide from Paloschi! The forward manages to nod a header beyond the near post, despite pressure from Astori. The home side have definitely given as good as they've gotten in the opening stages.
44'
Important clearance from Astori! The central defender hooks a timely ball upfield, despite pressure from Paloschi. Moments later, Hetemaj whips a cross into the penalty area, but Cole is on hand at the back post yet again to defuse the situation!
42'
Chievo work the ball down the left-hand side, before a long pass is clipped into the box and dealt with by Nainggolan. The hosts maintain their pressure, regardless, but Roma manage to rob possession in the middle of the pitch. Iturbe sets Gervinho away, but the former Arsenal winger can only drive into the box and drag an effort beyond the far post!
40'
R. Nainggolan gets yellow.
Big chance for Chievo! Pellissier and Paloschi almost combine to lethal effect, but the former sees a knockdown deflect off his shin and into the arms of De Sanctis! The former Napoli goalkeeper had to be switched on to the danger there! Maran calls Schelotto over to the touchline for some additional instructions.
39'
A. Florenzi gets yellow.
38'
Roma win another free kick on the edge of the penalty area, but this time Paredes can only thunder his strike into the wall. Moments later, Chievo break, before Florenzi makes a cynical challenge and earns himself a yellow card for his trouble.
37'
D. Dainelli gets yellow.
36'
Iturbe is released down the right flank, but the Argentine forward can't quite keep the ball in play. Roma are still enjoying the lion's share of possession, but they haven't been afforded much space around the penalty area to force Bizzarri into action.
34'
Gervinho wins another corner for the visitors, which Florenzi delivers. Totti manages to take it down, but the former Italy international is dispossessed. Roma recycle possession, before their right-back dips another cross in from the same flank, but Cesar heads away from deep within his own box.
32'
Chievo's front two are causing a few problems for Roma, but De Sanctis remains relatively unchallenged. Pellissier cuts inside from the left, before seeing his eventual shot blocked by Florenzi. The hosts whip the resulting corner into the penalty area, but it is cleared.
30'
Totti drives towards the edge of the penalty area, before getting blocked off by Hetemaj, earning Roma a free kick in a dangerous area. The dead ball is fizzed into the box by Paredes, before taking a deflection, but Bizzarri is still able to smother easily.
28'
Hetemaj goes down heavily, with Iturbe escaping the referee's book on this occasion despite clipping the left winger. Chievo whip the resulting delivery into the box, but it is promptly cleared by the visitors.
26'
Hetemaj catches Iturbe in the face with a stray elbow, but the former Porto winger is fine to continue. Gervinho continues to make dangerous runs off the ball, but the former Lille man hasn't been given the service to make a difference.
24'
Nainggolan manages to break up a Chievo attack, before winning a goal kick off his man. Chances have been few and far between, with the majority of the action occurring in the midfield third. Possession is being won and lost with rather worrying regularity.
22'
Half chance for Paredes! The Argentine midfielder shoots from the edge of the box, but Cesar makes a timely block and clearance. The game has finally settled down into its previous rhythm, following that break in play for Mattiello's injury.
20'
Birsa comes into the fray for the home side, with Mattiello presumably heading straight to the hospital. There will be a fair few minutes added at the end of this half as a result. The former Milan midfield immediately tries to break into the box after a switch of play, but Cole composedly defuses the situation.
19'
V. Birsa enters the game and replaces F. Mattiello.
18'
There's a break in play, as both players receive treatment after their collision. Nainggolan looks as though he will be able to continue, while Mattiello is immediately stretchered from the field of play with his leg in a brace.
16'
That's a bad injury for Mattiello! Nainggolan slides in on the Chievo midfielder, with his opponent turning his leg rather awkwardly! That looks like a broken leg for the Italian, who is visibly distraught on the field. His leg bent in a very unnatural way.
15'
Totti unleashes a shot from the edge of the box, after catching a deep corner delivery on the volley. Bizzarri is easily able to gather up the ball, with Roma unable to work possession into a dangerous enough area to really ask questions of the goalkeeper.
13'
Paloschi wins another corner for the hosts, but it comes to nothing. Maran's men are pushing on in numbers, but for the moment De Sanctis has had very little to do. Gervinho drives to the byline, after a good change of pace, but the Ivory Coast international manages to win a corner off Radovanovic.
11'
A cross is whipped in from the right-hand side, but De Sanctis pushes it away rather nervously with Pellissier lurking. After a tame start, Chievo are growing into this one! Izco drives down the right, before whipping in a cross, but Manolas is on hand to clear! The resulting corner is thrown into the box, but an ambitious overhead kick is blocked!
9'
Cole makes a timely defensive header at the back post, before Chievo keep turning the screw. Pellissier rounds De Sanctis, but the hosts' forward takes the ball too wide to try a shot. That was a warning from the Flying Donkeys, who hadn't threatened at all until that point.
7'
Roma are exerting all of the early pressure, with Maran's side forced back into their own half. Florenzi tries to break down the right, but is tracked well by Hetemaj and forced back towards his own goal. Moments later, Paredes clips a ball forward for Totti, but the experienced striker can't bring it under his spell and the goalkeeper collects.
5'
Gervinho is found out on the left-hand side, before bursting into the box and setting a pass back for Iturbe. The Argentine winger meets the cut back first time, but sends the ball spiralling into the stand behind Bizzarri's goal. That was a good chance!
3'
The away side retain the ball in the opening minutes, despite an attempt by Hetemaj to burst down the left flank. Roma break as a result, with Paredes clipping a cross in towards the back post, but Mattiello has the composure to clear the danger with a casual backheel volley.
1'
We are underway in the first half in Verona! The hosts are wearing white and blue, while the Giallorossi don their changed strip of grey.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of Roma's visit to face Chievo, as the away side attempt to keep the pressure up on Serie A's frontrunners. Rudi Garcia's side are unbeaten in six games, while the hosts laboured to a 0-0 stalemate last time out against Milan, meaning that the Giallorossi might just fancy their chances this afternoon. With merely five points between Rolando Maran's side and the drop zone, however, there is plenty of pressure on every home clash at Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi at this stage of the campaign.
I'm Simon Harrison and I will be keeping you up to date with all of the action from Verona, as Roma attempt to close the nine-point gap at the summit of Serie A. A 1-1 draw with the Bianconeri last time out showed that Garcia's outfit are competitive, but they can't afford to drop any more points if they are to even challenge Juventus for the Scudetto. Chievo, meanwhile, have only won two of their last 10 home clashes, with their away form bizarrely seemingly more fruitful this season.
TEAM NEWS: Alberto Paloschi and Sergio Pellissier start despite facing late fitness tests, with Bostjan Cesar also featuring at the heart of Chievo's defence after injury. Alessandro Gamberini also returns for the hosts, but only takes a seat on the bench. Ezequiel Schelotto is given a chance on the right-hand side, with Mariano Izco and Ivan Radovanovic partnering up in the middle of the park.
TEAM NEWS: Vasilis Torosidis and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa miss out through suspension for the visitors, with Alessandro Florenzi and Davide Astori filling in the gaps in defence. Ashley Cole is preferred to Jose Holebas at left-back, while Leandro Paredes starts in midfield with Miralem Pjanic only fit enough for the bench. Gervinho and Juan Iturbe flank Francesco Totti in attack, with Seydou Doumbia and Adem Ljajic finding themselves among the substitutes. Victor Ibarbo misses out due to injury.
Roma starting line-up (4-3-3): De Sanctis; Florenzi, Astori, Manolas, Cole; Paredes, Nainggolan, Keita; Iturbe, Totti, Gervinho.
Roma substitutes: Lobont, Ljajic, Pjanic, De Rossi, Holebas, Skorupski, Spolli, Ucan, Verde, Doumbia, Sanabria.
HALF TIME! The Giallorossi ride out some late pressure in the opening period to seal a 0-0 stalemate at the interval. Both goalkeepers have had a fair amount to do, with Paloschi and Gervinho going close respectively. The lowlight of the first 45 minutes, however, was certainly the horrific injury to Mattiello, who suffered a terrible broken leg on the field. Be sure to return for the second half in 10 minutes!
FULL TIME! Roma drop two more points in the title race, with Juventus now able to extend the gap at the top and Napoli gifted the chance to gain ground on second place. Garcia's men desperate pushed on in the second half, but resilient defending from a well-organised Maran outfit ensured a 0-0 stalemate. That's all we have time for from Verona, I've been Simon Harrison and I hope to see you again next time.
