Tired legs have taken over for the hosts who appear to have accepted the inevitable. Wolfsburg are headed through here with just a minute of stoppage time remaining and a free kick deep in their own end.
90' +1
M. Arnold enters the game and replaces K. De Bruyne.
90'
There will be three minutes of stoppage time, but it doesn't appear to be enough for Sporting who are likely headed out here.
88'
Time is almost up for Sporting and you can sense the frustration starting to set in. Wolfsburg are enjoying a bit more time in possession as they find space on the counter with the hosts committing nearly everyone into attack.
86'
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! It's just one of those days where it will take something truly spectacular to beat Benaglio. A cross into the area isn't dealt with and falls kindly for Slimani at the far post, but the keeper gets down to keep his shot out!
85'
D. Caligiuri gets yellow.
84'
PENALTY APPEALS DENIED! Bas Dost is furious as he had a chance to finish the tie off, being sent through on goal, but was taken down from behind by Jonathan Silva. The follow up was then blocked behind for a corner, and more appeals for a handball are turned aside by the referee.
82'
STAT ATTACK: Wolfsburg have lost just one of their last nine away matches across all competitions (W6, D2). They scored 26 times over that span, averaging just under three goals per game.
81'
Naldo gets yellow.
80'
The home side continue to dominate, creating chance after chance, and though time is running out, you get the sense that it is not over just yet. If they can get a goal with at least a few minutes remaining, it will make for an incredibly frantic finish.
Minute
Description
78'
F. Montero enters the game and replaces J. Tanaka.
Carlos Mané enters the game and replaces A. Carrillo.
HE CANNOT BUY A GOAL! Tanaka gets on the end of a pass inside the area, in all sorts of space. He tries to finish through the legs of Benaglio, but the keeper makes a painful looking save with his groin. The rebound falls kindly for the Japanese striker who should have a sure goal, but he waits far too long to get a shot off allowing the visitors to recover and clear behind for a corner!
76'
M. Schäfer enters the game and replaces Vieirinha.
Now or never for Sporting, who ready two changes. Fredy Montero and Carlos Mane are set to come on, while Wolfsburg make their second change in an attempt to get some fresh legs on and defend this aggregate lead. Vierinha is the one to come off, replaced by Marcel Schafer.
74'
Wolfsburg are being put under constant pressure at the back but continue to defend admirably. They are doing everything to keep the hosts out, intercepting crosses and getting blocks in at the most vital moments. How long can they hold out for?
72'
Time is running out for Sporting who are forced to commit more and more men into attack. This has left them a bit exposed at the back, but it has come to the point now where they need to take a chance. They need two goals to force extra time.
70'
TOO LONG! Sporting break four against three as Carrillo surges forward. He has options to either side, opting to lay it off for Nani instead of taking a shot from just outside the area. The winger cannot skip past Knoche, then takes too long to try and pick out Tanaka as Guilavogui gets back to sniff out the attack.
68'
STAT ATTACK: Sporting have won back-to-back home matches against German opposition, defeating Schalke 4-2 in this season’s Champions League and winning 1-0 against Hertha Bertlin in the 2009 Europa League group stage. These victories are their first two in Lisbon against opponents from Germany, having gone winless in eight matches before then (D4, L4).
66'
Sporting are pushing the pace and applying good pressure. They are patient in their build up, but continue to penetrate the Wolfsburg defence who appear a bit frantic at the back. The hosts need two goals and time is of the essence for them now!
64'
I. Slimani enters the game and replaces Adrien Silva.
CRUCIAL BLOCK! Rodriguez puts his side under unnecessary pressure, slipping and falling, allowing Tanaka to pick up the loose ball from 30 yards out. He picks out Carrillo on the left, but the winger takes a bit too long to get a shot off, allowing Rodriguez to recover and slide in to deflect it behind for a corner. Good hustle from the left-back to redeem himself there.
62'
D. Caligiuri enters the game and replaces A. Schürrle.
The visitors make their first change of the match in an attempt to strengthen their play in midfield, bringing on Daniel Caligiuri with attacker Andre Schurrle the one to give way. The former Chelsea man hardly had an impact on the night.
60'
Wolfsburg remain in possession as the referee plays advantage, but there could well be a yellow card coming here for William Carvalho as he slides into a late challenge in midfield. The visitors have a chance to press but opt to slow play down and retreat.
58'
STAT ATTACK: Sporting scored 12 goals in this season's Champions League group stage, the highest tally among teams who did not finish top two in their group.
56'
NANI DENIED! The winger brings down a long ball wonderfully well inside the area and makes quick work of Rodriguez before surprising Benaglio with a shot. The keeper lays out well to make the save and no one can get onto the rebound!
54'
OFF THE WOODWORK! That's much better, and of course, it's De Bruyne for Wolfsburg! The midfielder latches onto the end of a pass and wastes little time before driving a shot at goal. He beats Patricio, but strikes it straight off the post before Sporting scramble clear!
52'
Wolfsburg have got to start going forward. With a two-goal lead to their name, they can afford to push into attack and try and create. They have plenty of talent up top and could essentially book their place in the next round with an away goal, while their defence could really use a bit of relief.
50'
Benaglio to the rescue again! A good cross in from the left is headed down by Carrillo and back into the centre, but the Swiss keeper dives out to collect, preventing Joao Mario from tapping in from close range.
48'
The hosts begin the second half like the ended the first. They are having plenty of success getting forward when in possession and are creating problems for the Wolfsburg defence. It is looking like only a matter of time before they find an opener, and boy would that make for a tense and excting second half!
46'
Wolfsburg get the second half underway! No changes to tell you about at the break.
45' +1
OFF THE WOODWORK! Unbelievable! What an absolutely superb run by Joao Mario down the left channel, proving to be too strong and fast for Trasch. He cuts it back for Tanaka in the centre, but Benaglio gets enough of the first-time shot to turn it onto the post!
45'
There will be just one minute of stoppage time at the end of this first half.
44'
The pace has fizzled out a bit as we approach the end of this first half. Wolfsburg win a corner but again fail to pose a threat from it. Sporting get back in possession but are unable to find a way into attack as half-time approaches.
42'
The hosts are down to 10 men for the moment as Nani is forced to go off with a slight gash on his head after a collision atop the penalty area. It is not exactly clear where and how he got cut, but he will require a quick patching-up before making his way back on.
40'
HOW IS IT STILL SCORELESS?! Carvalho plays an absolutely stunning ball forward, splitting the Wolfsburg defence and sending Tanaka through on goal. Benaglio gets an arm out to deny the breakaway before the follow up from Adrien Silva is blocked by Knoche with the keeper parried.
38'
DOUBLE CHANCE! NEARLY THE OPENER! William Carvalho latches onto a partially cleared ball and drives a shot towards the top corner, but Benaglio flies through the air like Superman to push it behind for a corner! The ensuing delivery from Nani is met by Tobian Figueiredo, but his header is cleared off the line by Trasch!
36'
CLOSE! The Wolfsburg defence has been a locked door for much of this first half, but Nani found the key! He creates space well with some excellent footwork before sliding Tanaka through to the left of goal. The striker tries to pick out the far corner but drags his shot just wide!
34'
Wonderful build-up! Adrien Silva shows great footwork in midfield, darting forward and escaping two defenders before sliding Jonathan Silva through on the left. The defender tries to pick out the run of Tanaka, but his cross is hit too hard, allowing Benaglio to make a simple catch.
32'
The match has become a bit scrappy, as the foul count quickly rises. The home supporters voice their frustration as they feel too many decisions are going against them in midfield, and they have a bit of a case. You can almost cut the tension with a knife inside the stadium! The Europa League certainly means something to both these teams, and with good reason.
30'
SMART HANDS! Patricio atones for his mistake, diving out fearlessly to pluck a low cross from Rodriguez away from the danger area with the ever-dangerous Dost charging to get on the end of it.
29'
Much better from Wolfsburg, who are finally pushing the pace in possession. De Bruyne, the general in midfield, is seeing much more of the ball and finds himself at the heart of every attack. Sporting, meanwhile, have seemingly lost their concentration at the back as they fail to break out of their own end and then Patricio cannot keep a back-pass in play as they concede a corner.
27'
STAT ATTACK: The last time Wolfsburg reached the Europa League knockout stage was in the 2009/10 season. They defeated Villarreal and then Rubin Kazan before falling in the quarter-finals at the hands of Fulham.
25'
Bas Dost, who has been in superb form lately, makes his presence felt on the other side of the ball, sliding hard into a challenge. The crowd urges the referee to show a yellow as he did to Oliveira, but the striker manages to escape with only a warning. The free kick is played into the area from some distance and Robin Knoche heads behind for a corner.
23'
The hosts are looking to use their pace and attack through Carrillo and Nani on the flanks, but thus far Ricardo Rodriguez and Christian Trasch have been up to the challenge defensively. With the exception of a few crosses played into the area, neither winger has had much success when taking on the defence.
21'
Paulo Oliveira gets yellow.
Nasty challenge! Oliveira tries to intercept a pass near the halfway line, but arrives too late, sliding hard into the feet of Andre Schurrle. The referee doesn't hesitate in awarding a free kick and showing the centre-back the first yellow card of the match.
19'
Wolfsburg have managed to pose little to no threat in attack through the opening 20 minutes. Kevin De Bruyne takes a pass in the centre and charges at the defence, but he hits his long-range shot straight at Paolo Oliveira who makes a simple block and starts the hosts back the other way.
17'
SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER! Andre Carrillo puts in good work on the left and lays the ball off for left-back Jonathan Silva. The defender sends a wonderful cross in for Nani at the far post, but the ex-Manchester United man cannot make good enough contact on the volley, bouncing a shot back across goal and harmlessly behind.
15'
The match has become largely contained in midfield now, with the odd ball forward being dealt with by either defence. Joao Mario plays a pass over the top for Junya Tanaka, but the striker cannot bring it down well enough with his first touch, allowing Naldo to clear.
13'
Sporting have dominated possession over the last five minutes, though they have not managed to make life difficult for the Wolfsburg defence. They are lacking a bit of purpose to their play at the moment, but will certainly be reluctant to commit too many men forward and leave themselves exposed at the back.
11'
TEASING CROSS! Nani does what he does best, running with the ball at his feet. It's almost as if he has it tied to a rope, as he twists and turns his way into space just outside the penalty area. He sends a strong ball into the centre, but Diego Benaglio reads it well and dives out to make an important catch.
9'
STAT ATTACK: Sporting are unbeaten in their last 19 matches in Lisbon in the Europa League proper, recording 13 victories over that span. Their last defeat at home in the competition, excluding qualifying, came in April of 2008 in the quarter-finals against Rangers.
7'
Both teams have started confidently and are showing signs of wanting to get forward and score goals. The hosts need two goals to give themselves a chance to go through, while Wolfsburg do not need any. It is unlike the German side to sit back and defend, however, and they are looking to push forward and grab an all-important away goal that would come close to ending the tie.
5'
The referee has plenty of pushing and shoving to deal with inside the Sporting penalty area in anticipation of a Wolfsburg corner. The chaos proves to be all for nothing as the hosts clear the threat and counter with real pace, winning a corner of their own at the other end. Another good defensive header ensures it comes to nothing, however.
3'
The pitch is in far from good shape. There was plenty of ground work that needed to be done in anticipation of the match, due to recent weather, and the light green patches are littering the pitch like spots on a cheetah. It has not appeared to affect the match early on, but it will certainly be something to monitor throughout.

The home side get the match underway! Sporting in green, Wolfsburg in white. Here we go!
Hello and welcome to Portugal, where the Europa League round of 32 comes to a conclusion tonight. The Estadio Jose Alvalade is our venue this evening as Sporting look to mount a comeback after a 2-0 defeat in the first leg against a surging Wolfsburg side. I am Alex Moretto and I will be your in-game host, guiding you through the match LIVE as it happens!
Sporting were far from great in their first-leg defeat in Germany, but will fancy their chances at being able to turn this tie around in front of their home fans. They scored seven goals in two games against Schalke in the group stage of the Champions League this past autumn, and could really do with finding that scoring touch again this evening.
Wolfsburg are in second place in the Bundesliga and with eight and 10 points separating the teams ahead and below them in the standings, their position in the league appears quite secure. This will allow them, if their hearts desire, to focus all their efforts on making a legitimate run at winning the Europa League. Die Wolfe have never won a non-domestic trophy, but with the way Dieter Hecking has them playing at the moment, they have arguably as good a shot as anyone at winning the title.
Marco Silva has made three changes to his team after suffering a defeat in Germany, with Junya Tanaka replacing Fredy Montero up top, Jonathan Silva stepping in for Jefferson Nascimento at left-back and William Carvalho starting in the heart of midfield, pushing Oriol Rosell to the bench. Cedric, Andre Carrillo and Adrien Silva were all rested over the weekend.
Dieter Hecking has made just two changes to the XI which recorded a 2-0 victory in the first leg. Luiz Gustavo comes on to replace the injured Aaron Hunt, while Joshua Guilavogui slides in alongside him in midfield, pushing Christian Trasch to right-back and Sebastian Jung to the bench.
The anthems sound and both sets of fans are in full voice. The atmosphere is superb ahead of kick-off on this absolutely perfect nght for football in Lisbon!
HALF TIME: SPORTING 0-0 WOLFSBURG. It was rather tedious and uneventful for the opening half-hour, but the hosts sprung to life and will consider themselves extremely unlucky not to be ahead at the break. Benaglio came up huge to deny Carvalho from long range, before doing the same to Tanaka twice from in close. Trasch played the role of keeper as well, clearing Figueiredo's header off the line to keep this game scoreless into the break.
FULL-TIME: SPORTING 0-0 WOLFSBURG. The Bundesliga club advance to the last 16 on the back of their goalkeeper Diego Benaglio. It is a disappointing result for the hosts who were impressive throughout, but could not buy a goal. Their European journey comes to an end tonight, though they can hold their heads high after leaving everything out on the pitch.
I am Alex Moretto and I would like to thank you all for joining me here today. Good bye!
