Mourinho's side continue to stay cool in possession and try to run down the clock. It has been a very professional second half from the Blues, who haven't given Burnley more than half a chance. Whenever the Clarets have kept hold of the ball, it has been in non-threatening areas.
90'
There are only three minutes of stoppage time.
89'
Drogba is given a half chance from 20 yards, which is all the invitation that the Ivory Coast international needs. After shrugging off Duff, the ball sits up kindly for the Chelsea substitute, but his half volley zips narrowly wide!
88'
The introduction of Mikel has lead to Chelsea keeping possession in much deeper areas. Sordell looks to press Terry, but takes a leg away from under the Blues captain in an attempt to rob possession - earning him a yellow card.
87'
M. Sordell gets yellow.
86'
Diego Costa is hugging the left touchline, with Drogba positioned as the central striker for the last five minutes. Courtois is rushed in possession by Sordell, but keeps his cool to place a clearance upfield.
84'
D. Drogba enters the game and replaces E. Hazard.
Didier Drogba completes his return to the Chelsea starting line-up, coming on in the place of Hazard, earning a great reception from his travelling supporters.
82'
M. Sordell enters the game and replaces D. Ings.
M. Obi enters the game and replaces Oscar.
Oscar is withdrawn for the visitors, with Mikel thrown on in his place - a certain illustration that Mourinho is looking to shut up shop in the final ten minutes. Ings is then subbed for Marvin Sordell, with the former Bolton striker enjoying his competitive debut tonight.
80'
Ings comes deep to collect possession, before sidestepping two challenges and picking another pass. The Burnley forward has been one of the only bright sparks in a fairly humbling experience for Dyche's side tonight.
78'
Willian enters the game and replaces A. Schürrle.
Mourinho makes a change, with goalscorer Schurrle withdrawn for Willian, who can provide intensity and the fresh legs required to break upfield for the remaining 12 minutes.
Minute
Description
77'
Chelsea continue to invite Burnley to press them and are in no rush to seal their three points with another goal. The Blues have coasted through the second half, with Courtois equal for anything the Clarets have managed to muster up.
75'
Burnley win themselves a free-kick in an advanced area, as Schurrle is penalised for a push. Jones finds Duff hovering at the edge of the box, who steps over the ball as a dummy for Ings - however the Englishman fails to make contact with his strike! Not the best set piece routine!
73'
Ings is nearly found by an early lofted ball, but Courtois is quick to get off his line and claim above the Burnley forward, coming through the back of Cahill in the process. The Belgian goalkeeper has commanded his area fantastically tonight.
72'
Less than 20 minutes remain for Burnley to get themselves back into this match, but should they find the game's fifth goal, Chelsea might just be worried for the rest of proceedings. Mourinho continues to stick with his starting 11.
70'
M. Kightly enters the game and replaces M. Taylor.
A. Barnes enters the game and replaces L. Jutkiewicz.
Ashley Barnes and Michael Kightly come into the fray for Burnley, with Dyche keen to freshen up in forward areas. Burnley manage to get in behind Chelsea, courtesy of a good run by Arfield down the right flank, but the goalscorer is denied by the offside flag.
68'
Hazard, Oscar and Ivanovic work the ball well between themselves down the right-hand side, before the former sets a pass back to the Serbia international, inviting him to cross. Ivanovic obliges, but his cross is slightly too high for a leaping Diego Costa to meet.
66'
Chelsea are in cruise control when in possession, quietly probing and retaining the ball, rather than pressing for a fourth goal. Mourinho's name rings out from the away fans, who also give Drogba a good reception as the Ivory Coast international comes out to warm up.
64'
Taylor rises well at the back post, in an attempt to meet a good cross from Trippier, but the former Portsmouth midfielder can't quite stretch enough to make telling contact. Chelsea certainly haven't been entirely watertight, there's still opportunity to grab another goal back, but only if the Clarets can win possession first.
63'
Schurrle looks to cut back a cross from the byline, but Mee slides in to ensure that the Chelsea winger isn't afforded to space to do so freely, making a good block. The home fans are still urging their side on optimistically, there is plenty of time to get back into this, after all.
61'
Jutkiewicz holds up play, before ambitiously cutting inside onto his right foot and letting fly. Ings almost turns the shot towards goal with an improvised finish, but the ball lasers wide of the far post with Courtois merely a contented spectator.
60'
With half an hour left to play, Chelsea do appear to have three points in the bag. Composedly stroking passes around and looking for the hosts to continue chasing, Mourinho's men seem keen to remain dominant but also tire the Premier League new boys. Both coaches might start to look to the bench soon.
58'
Chelsea are happy to stroke possession around, with Schurrle, Hazard and Costa providing the drive and endeavour in forward areas. The away fans are cheering each completed pass, as the Blues continue to look comfortable.
56'
A few late challenges are coming in from the home side now, with the likes of Oscar and Hazard showing some great examples of close control. As the Clarets tire, we might just start to see a couple more bookings dished out by Michael Oliver.
54'
Hazard is sent tumbling by Jones, with the Belgian skipping around the central midfield brilliantly. After riding out a brief spell of pressure, Chelsea are pushing forward once again and have a free-kick from 30 yards out. Schurrle tries his luck, but fires high into the stand.
52'
Trippier breaks down the right before clipping a ball into the channel for Marney to chase, but the former Hull midfielder can't quite take the pass down in his stride and is tackled. Dyche applauds his side, who are giving it a real go at the moment.
50'
Taylor fires in an early cross from deep on the left, which Cahill heads straight up into the air, leaving Courtois hesitant to come out. Jutkiewicz pressures the former Bolton defender into clearing behind for a corner, which is promptly claimed with ease by Chelsea's gangly goalkeeper.
49'
Great save from Courtois! Arfield picks up the ball on the edge of the box once again, collecting a Cahill half-clearance, before checking back onto his left foot. The Burnley goalscorer looks to curl a shot into the top left corner, but the Belgian goalkeeper rises acrobatically to push it to safety!
47'
Ings musters up the first chance of the second half, after Jutkiewicz managed to rob Ivanovic of the ball. The England U21 international races in behind, dropping a shoulder to open up some space, but drags his eventual shot way wide.
46'
We're back underway in the second half! Burnley need to find at least two goals if they are to take away any points from their first Premier League game of the season, while Mourinho won't be allowing his personnel to switch off before 90 minutes are up.
45' +2
Chelsea calmly hold onto possession, before Azpilicueta is released by Hazard courtesy of a clever backheel. The Spaniard squares to his compatriot Diego Costa, who switches the ball to Ivanovic on the right. The Serbian goalscorer tries to swing a cross towards the back post, but sees his best effort blocked.
45'
Diego Costa continues to battle with Shackell, but Michael Oliver isn't interested in the Spaniard's complaints. There are only two minutes of stoppage time.
43'
Only a few minutes are left until the interval, with Burnley trying to lift themselves. Arfield tries to break down the right, but is promptly robbed of possession. He's been one of the Clarets better performers, putting in plenty of work rate.
41'
Ivanovic goes down with an injury, after landing awkwardly on his arm and the base of his back following an aerial challenge with Mee. He receives some attention from the physios, but should be okay to continue. If not, Chelsea can give Filipe Luis his debut and shift Azpilicueta to right-back.
39'
Jutkiewicz slides a pass out wide on the left, before Taylor whips in a good cross for the Englishman's strike partner. Ings manages to make contact with the delivery, but can only divert the ball wide of Courtois' near post. Chelsea then break, but Hazard slips as he tries a Rabona cross at the byline.
37'
Schurrle is found in behind yet again, with Chelsea playing some excellent football. The Germany international steals into the box and tries to poke home a finish, but Heaton is quick off his line to smother the ball with the help of a sliding block from Shackell.
36'
With only ten minutes remaining until the break, it seems a very long time ago indeed that Burnley took the lead. Ings and Jutkiewicz have seen less and less of the ball as this contest has progressed, but Mourinho won't want his personnel to regard the contest as over quite yet.
34'
B. Ivanović has scored a goal for Chelsea! Assist by Cesc Fàbregas.
GOOOOOOOOAL! IVANOVIC TURNS HOME A THIRD! Duff is forced to clear behind for a corner, as Chelsea turn the screw once again. A near post delivery is swung in, falling to the Serbia international at the opposite upright, who cushions a finish into the bottom corner! Chelsea lead 3-1!
32'
Mourinho argues with the fourth official, clearly believing that Diego Costa deserves rather more than receiving a card for what appeared to be a foul from the Clarets' goalkeeper. On field, Chelsea quickly re-focus and settle back down into their stride.
31'
Diego Costa gets yellow.
30'
Diego Costa is brought down by Heaton, with the Spaniard expecting for the Burnley goalkeeper to see a card - but instead Michael Oliver books the Chelsea striker. The Burnley shot-stopper misses the ball entirely, clipping Costa slightly, but is fortunate that the referee cautions the former Atleti man for simulation.
29'
Burnley look long to Jutkiewicz quickly, but the target man gives away possession very rashly, possibly down to the fact that he hadn't touched the ball for ten minutes or so. He is picked out again deep in the penalty area, before the loose ball bounces up for Ings to attack, but Azpilicueta covers across brilliantly to head clear!
27'
As it stands, Burnley are learning about the Premier League the hard way. Despite the Clarets going ahead, Chelsea are really getting on top, with Dyche's system unable to prevent Mourinho's side from retaining the ball. Fabregas looks in the mood tonight.
25'
The away side are settling into their rhythm, stroking possession around the field and making Burnley do the chasing. Hazard drives through the heart of the hosts' defence once again, with the Belgian displaying brilliance agility and balance to carve open space for himself. Oscar tries to cut in from the left and curl an effort at goal, but shoots high and wide.
23'
The away fans are now buoyant, as their team complete the turnaround. Fabregas' pass was absolutely wonderful, with it evident why the Spanish playmaker racked up 13 assists in La Liga last season. Mourinho's men aren't content to sit back now though, as they press on from the restart.
21'
A. Schürrle has scored a goal for Chelsea! Assist by Cesc Fàbregas.
GOOOOOOOAL! SCHURRLE MAKES IT 2-1! Burnley are stunned after what is a fantastic passage of play! Fabregas manages to slide Schurrle in behind the hosts' back four on the volley, allowing for the Germany international to ghost in unmarked and slide a finish beyond Heaton!
19'
Two goals in three minutes at Turf Moor, with this game definitely living up to its billing. Mourinho is already urging his team forward, who look very threatening offensively. Dyche's men will have to rally again, despite conceding so soon being something of a sucker-punch.
17'
Diego Costa has scored a goal for Chelsea!
GOOOOOAL! DIEGO COSTA EQUALISES! The Spain international has his first goal in English football, firing home a rebound! Ivanovic's cross was too devilish, evading several defenders, before striking the foot of the far post. The former Atletico frontman just has to keep his cool and apply the lethal touch!
16'
Mourinho will not be impressed with his side conceding the early goal, as it allows for Burnley to sit back and invite pressure on - when the Blues would rather be countering. The home crowd are really getting behind their side, who have taken real belief from Arfield's opener.
14'
S. Arfield has scored a goal for Burnley! Assist by M. Taylor.
GOOOOOAL! BURNLEY TAKE THE LEAD THROUGH ARFIELD! Chelsea fail to clear their lines, with the Clarets managing to work the ball back to the byline following a corner. Jones picks out Arfield at the back post, who takes one touch before slamming the ball into the roof of the net beyond Courtois!
13'
Terry is already having to jostle with Jutkiewicz, with Burnley's summer signing coming in as a replacement for the currently injured Sam Vokes. The Welshman formed a great partnership with Ings last season, one which the former Boro man will look to replicate.
11'
The opening ten minutes have only passed with a chance for either side, with Heaton not being asked any questions in the hosts' net. Schurrle is looking very lively early on, however, with the German attacking midfielder trying to carry his World Cup form on into the competitive season.
9'
Ings manages to find a pocket of space in between the lines, before stabbing a through ball towards Jutkiewicz with the outside of his boot. Ivanovic recovers well to rob the Burnley forward of the ball. Dyche's men have got upfield quite well, but Chelsea look very dangerous on the attack.
8'
Trippier is found in plenty of space on the right-hand side, but Azpilicueta gets across well to make the challenge. The Burnley full-back can whip in a dangerous cross, so the Spaniard will have to make sure to close down his man whenever he advances into the Chelsea half.
6'
Jutkiewicz hits the side netting! The former Middlesbrough striker is found deep in the penalty area, before cutting inside Ivanovic and mustering up a tame effort! Courtois has his angles covered, but half of the ground thought that was in.
5'
Schurrle goes close! A poor clearance from Trippier allows for Costa to shift a pass inside to the Germany international, who cuts onto his right foot and tries his luck from 20 yards - but the ball is deflected wide for a corner. Chelsea float it in, but the home side clear. Mourinho's men are starting to exert dominance.
4'
After a bright opening couple of minutes from the home side, Chelsea settle down and begin to stroke the ball around. Diego Costa is penalised early on for a foul, showing that the Spain international is able to handle himself against the physical presences of Shackell and Duff.
2'
Jutkiewicz has the first sight of goal, but drags his inaugural effort well wide of the post, allowing for Courtois to get his opening touch with a goal-kick.
1'
We are underway in the first half! The Premier League season has started for Burnley and Chelsea, with the former in claret and blue, while Chelsea don their customary bright blue home strip.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League, as Burnley host the first Monday evening kick-off of the new season against Chelsea. It's title contenders against Sean Dyche's newly promoted side, with plenty of disparity between the sums of money both respective clubs have spent in the current transfer window. Jose Mourinho has brought in world-class quality, while the Clarets have opted for top flight experience.
I'm Simon Harrison and I will be keeping you up to date with all of the action, as the Blues look to start their title challenge in the best possible fashion - but going to Turf Moor will be tough. Plenty of summer signings are being blooded in tonight's clash, which should take place in front of a capacity crowd, which promises to be an entertaining contest.
TEAM NEWS: Only two summer signings make it into the starting eleven for Burnley, with Lukasz Jutkiewicz starting up top and Matty Taylor on the right-hand side of midfield. Dean Marney and David Jones have Premier League experience in the centre of midfield, while Danny Ings netted 20 goals for Dyche's men last season. In terms of other reinforcements, Marvin Sordell and Matt Gilks make the bench.
TEAM NEWS: Thibaut Courtois is given the nod in between the posts, in what is quite a decision from Mourinho. Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta are chosen at full-back, with summer signing Filipe Luis on the bench. Cesc Fabregas starts in holding midfield with Nemanja Matic, while Diego Costa leads the line from the start supplied by Eden Hazard, Oscar and Andre Schurrle. Didier Drogba is named among the substitutes.
Chelsea starting line-up: Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Fabregas, Matic; Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard; Diego Costa.
Chelsea substitutes: Cech, Willian, Zouma, Drogba, Torres, Filipe Luis, Mikel.
After finishing as somewhat of a surprise second place in the Championship last season, Dyche's reward for a fantastic campaign is to take on one of the favourites for the title in the Clarets' opening game. Mourinho has named a very, very strong side, as the Portuguese coach knows to expect a tough contest from a side with plenty of belief, backed by a sizeable home crowd.
With only a quarter of an hour remaining until kick-off, be sure to stick around for all of the action from Turf Moor. Mourinho had some complaints to make about his squad last season, but has been backed firmly by Roman Abramovich in the transfer market, leaving the Portuguese coach with no excuses but to deliver results now. Huge sums of money have been spent, but football isn't won on paper!
Both teams have come out onto the field and we should be minutes from getting underway! The atmosphere is fierce, with the hosts needing their fans to get behind them in order to get any points from this game.
HALF TIME! Chelsea lead 3-1 at Turf Moor, despite Burnley taking the lead through Arfield early on. Goals from Diego Costa, Schurrle and Ivanovic have put Mourinho's men in a strong position, with Fabregas pulling the strings in central midfield.
Dyche can take from heart from how his side started the game, but Chelsea have since taken control. Fabregas looks to be an inspired signing, while Courtois has only had one save to make. Heaton can perhaps consider himself lucky, after possibly bringing down Costa as last man, but Michael Oliver booked the Spaniard for simulation.
Be sure to rejoin us in ten minutes time for all of the second half action, as the Clarets bid to either turn this game around or simply aim for damage limitation. Mourinho's side are looking like the title contenders they're labelled as, at the moment.
FULL TIME! Chelsea complete a professional 3-1 victory at Turf Moor against Burnley, with all of the goals coming in the first half. Arfield opening the scoring, but the Blues fought back well, with finishes from Costa, Schurrle and Ivanovic.
Solid performance all round for Chelsea, with Courtois and Costa performing very well on their debuts for the club in the Premier League. Burnley can take some positives, as they showed real fight throughout, but Mourinho's men just proved to be too well armed.
That's all we have time for from Turf Moor, as Chelsea ran out as comfortable 3-1 winners against newly promoted Burnley. Business as usual for Mourinho, who will be very pleased with securing the signing of Cesc Fabregas. I've been Simon Harrison and I hope to see you again next time.
