Well that should be that. Townsend has an effort well kept out by Fahrmann, who has impressed all afternoon, but Ceballos should be burying the rebound, instead lobbing his shot over the bar.
90'
We are into two minutes of stoppage time at the end of this one. Can Spurs see it out to pick up a win in Pochettino's first game in charge at the Lane?
88'
Soldado looks to be in behind the Schalke defence but the ball seems to hold up and he can't take it in his stride as he threatens to produce another gilt-edged chance for the hosts.
86'
Ceballos is on for Lewis Holtby and the young winger has a chance to wrap things up. He's found in acres of space on the right and when he cuts the ball back onto his left foot, his curled effort is tipped away by Fahrmann.
85'
Spurs have just lot a bit of their shape since the last couple of changes. This was looking like a routine win but Pochettino is in danger of beginning his White Hart Lane experience with a draw here.
83'
Almost an instant impact from Avdijaj! The young striker is on the field for a matter of seconds when he gets his first sight of goal, forcing Lloris into a smart save as he pokes the ball towards goal with the outside of his boot.
81'
That was Boateng's last involvement as Avdijaj comes on in his place. He'll be satisfied with his performance against one of his former clubs.
80'
GOOAAALLL!!! BOATEND REDUCES THE DEFICIT!!! Spurs are caught napping after the substitutions and Aogo picks out an unmarked Boateng who sweeps a low effort beyond Lloris from the edge of the area.
79'
A change apiece for the sides as young Zeki Fryers comes on for Younes Kaboul and Sobottka is on for Schalke in place of Choupo-Moting.
78'
Fahrmann may have just produced a decent save, but he isn't getting a lot of pats on the back from team-mates at the moment. His distribution hasn't been great all game and the last couple of clearances have fallen straight to Spurs players without clearing the halfway line.
Minute
Description
76'
Cries of shoot from the White Hart Lane crowd are adhered to by Sandro and it almost produces a cracking goal! The Brazilian obliges the home fans and sends a rasping effort towards goal from 25-yard out, Fahrmann spoiling the fun with a decent punch away.
74'
Just over 15 minutes left and Pochettino makes another change. Bentaleb gets a break from the action and young Tom Carroll is on for the final act.
72'
Tell you what, Clemens is making a real nuisance of himself down the right. He gets to the bye-line this time and his cut back is met by both Kaboul and Naughton, the latter inadvertently driving his clearance against the shins of the the Frenchman. It goes behind for a corner but could have been a lot worse.
71'
Schalke should have a goal back Meyer has all of the goal to aim at as Clemens picks him in the box unmarked, but he can only drag his shot wide of Lloris's near post.
69'
It will really encouraging for Pochettino to see both of his first choice forwards on the scoresheet today. Soldado had a torrid time of it last season and a run in the side accompanied by goals is really what the former Valencia man needs. Will the new boss afford him that chance though?
67'
Another substitution for Tottenham as they bring off Eriksen. On in his place is Sandro. A bit more pressure on the midfielders who are left to show a bit of creativity as we move into the final third of the game.
66'
GOOOAAALLL!!! SOLDADO SCORES!!! That's how to put them away! Townsend unleashes a ferocious strike that Fahrmann has to get a strong hand to. He does, but the ball flies straight at Soldado, who adjusts his head to send a looping header into the net. That will hopefully settle the Spaniard for the season ahead.
65'
A first real save for Lloris in this second half. Chaupo-Moting gets his head on a cross, but it's from a good way out and it's comfortable to say the least for the Frenchman by the time it reaches his goal.
64'
Kane shows a deft touch on the edge of the area to create a bit of space for himself, but he takes a little too long to get a shot away and soon he is surrounded by a swarm of green shirts.
62'
Christian Clemens is on for Schalke as they make another change during the second half. Barnetta is off as the visitors look for a way back into this one. Still plenty of time left.
61'
I haven't had much to sat about Dier so far, but as a central defender you can be sure that's a good thing. He impresses further here as well, getting his body between Choupo-Moting and the ball to prevent the Cameroonian bearing down on Lloris's goal.
59'
Ironic cheers from the home fans as Schalke waste their first chance of the second half, Ayhan firing an high into the crowd behind the goal.
57'
If Eriksen stays fit this season, Spurs won't have any problem creating chances. The problem remains finishing, as the Dane picks out Townsend with a lovely reverse pass, but the winger's curled effort with his left foot is wide by a long distance.
55'
First booking of the game, and surprisingly it's not Lewis Holtby. Ayhan brings down Townsend on the left and is cautioned by the English referee.
54'
Well I guess that's what pre-season is for. As long as he gets those bad misses out of his system now, he should be fine. Meanwhile Harry Kane is bundled to the floor in the box, but referee Taylor isn't interested.
53'
BIG CHANCE FOR TWO! A lovely run from Towsend in behind is picked out by Holtby. The winger has plenty of time and picks out Soldado, but the Spaniard smashes his effort way over the crossbar.
52'
Great block from Naoughton! The full-back has to get across quickly to block a volley from Aogo, almost deflecting the ball beyond a stationary Lloris in the process.
51'
Something tells me Holtby didn't get on much with his team-mates at Schalke. He commits another foul, again on Ayhan, giving the visitors a free kick in a promising area.
49'
Holtby flashes a ball across the Schalke box bur neither Kane nor Soldado are a position to get on the end of it and Fahrmann gathers the ball unopposed.
47'
An early chance for Harry Kane down the left-hand side brings an important challenge from the Schalke defence. It brings up a corner, but Spurs can't make anything of it.
46'
Fuchs and Hoger are on for Schalke as Kolasina and Matip make way. Soldado is also on for Spurs as Lamela, Rose, Adebayor and Lennon come off for the hosts. We are now back underway too!
44'
Just minute left of the first half and this one is winding down to half time, Lennon found offside once more. For those of you desperate to know, Pochettino has opted for the suit for his first game in charge of Spurs, ditching his much loved tracksuit.
42'
The Spurs fans are on their feet as Adebayor gallops away down the left-hand flank. The cheers of encouragement give way to groans though as the linesman raises his flag once more to signal offside.
40'
Kaan Ayhan wins another free kick for Schalke after Holtby comes in with another foul. It's apoor delivery from Choupo-Moting though and the German outfit need to make the most of these chances if they want back into this one.
38'
A lofted ball from the left is switched towards Kevin-Prince Boateng. The Ghanaian international can bring the ball down but is muscled off the ball by Danny Rose as he eye up the shot. Good defending from the full-back.
36'
A quick break in play as Schalke's Cameroonian defender Choupo-Moting is down on the left-hand side. He's quickly back on his feet though and we are back up and running.
34'
They can, and they should be level. The free kick is curled in and Neustadter gets in between Kaboul and Dier to glance a header towards goal, but he can't quite find the target. That definitely goes down as a chance in this game.
33'
Erik Lamela gives away a foul on the left hand-side after clashing with Boateng. We haven't seen much of a threat from the Germans, can they create anything here?
31'
Somewhere, I'm sure, Tim Sherwood is also saluting that goal. Adebayor has praised the former caretaker boss for reigniting his career at Tottenham last season and he looks in fine fettle for the coming campaign once again.
29'
GOOOAAALLL!!! ADEBAYOR SCORES!!! The striker is up and running for the season. A classy move from Spurs sees Lamela, Lennon and Holtby combine on the edge of the area, before the German cuts the ball back across the box. Adebayor is at the back post to take a touch and slam home beyond Fahrmann before saluting the Tottenham fans.
27'
What a chance! Big opening for Lewis Holtby to make the right kind of mark on this game. He gets on the end of an Eriksen cross as the defence turns to statues, but he can't lift his effort beyond Fahrmann, the keeper making a good stop.
25'
It's a big season for a few players in north London who are out to prove a point, but none more so than Erik Lamela. He's had a promising pre-season so far but has failed to get himself involved so far this afternoon.
23'
A sight at goal for Tottenham's Bentaleb. A corner ends up falling to the Algerian international and although eh adjusts his feet well, he can't quite get his shot right and skews a volley wide of the target.
21'
Awful, awful challenge from Holtby. The former Schalke man may feel he has a point to prove against his old club but this isn't the way to do it as he launches in two-footed. Neustadter. No booking. In a league game though, that could easily be red.
19'
Adebayor has been a little bit quiet so far but he finds a bit of space in behind after peeling off the shoulder of the last man. His touch is a little on the heavy side though and Ayhan is able to get back and put in a vital tackle.
17'
Schalke aren't looking to convincing at the back. The former Borussia Dortmund centre-back Santana has miscontrolled a couple of straightforward passes. Forgivable at the beginning of pre-season, but they start their domestic campaign next weekend.
15'
He's in again here y'know, and this time he's onside. A lovely threaded pass from Christian Eriksen finds the left-sided winger and he beats Fahrmann to the ball, but the keeper spreads himself and is able to make the save.
13'
Lennon is called offside again but it's getting tighter. The winger drifts off the left and tries to hold his run on the last shoulder of the defence but can't quite time it. He had no one within 20 yards off him too.
11'
It probably is important to point out that Schalke are far from full strength. World Cup winners Julian Draxler and Benedikt Howedes are both still missing, as is Klass-Jan Huntelaar. A few handy players there, you'd have to admit.
9'
Much like the new kit, it's been a bright opening for the hosts. They've yet to create any real openings but they have Schalke penned in and on the back foot at the moment.
7'
It was a late call, but it's definitely the right one. A nice touch with Tottenham's new kit. It's a tribute to the late Bill Nicholson, the legendary Spurs manager, with the number of stripes on the sleeve indicating the trophies he won while manager at the Lane. More in him at the break.
5'
Hmm, that's a pretty late flag. Adebayor latches on to a throughball that sees him clean through, and with Aaron Lennon in support. What would surely have been the opening goal never comes though. As the Togolese striker is, eventually, flagged offside.
3'
The home fans have turned up in full voice for this one. A bit of noise coming from a few corners of the ground as fans get the chance to see their side in London for the first time this season.
2'
Early movement form Tottenham down the left brings half a chance. Danny Rose, who has just signed a new long term deal with the club, gets to the bye-line on the left, but his cut-back is cleared by the Schalke defence.
1'
Tottenham get us underway! There aren't just home debuts on the pitch for the hosts. It's Pochettino's first appearance in north London since switching from Southampton too.
The football league is up and running and the beautiful game is back for another season. But while us lot wait for the real stuff to kick off next weekend, maybe you can enjoy this. It's Tottenham versus Schalke from White Hart Lane, and we've got every minute of the action covered.
DeAndre Yedlin - who starred for the US of A in their World Cup campaign, and who has already crossed paths with Spurs this season having appeared in their 3-3 draw at Seattle Sounders - looks set to move to White Hart Lane, with a fee in the region of £2 million agreed between the clubs. Morgan Schneiderlin could also follow Pochettino from Southampton, but a tug of war with the depleted Saints is currently holding up that one.
It's been a busy pre-season for Spurs. After bringing in a new manager in Mauricio Pochettino, the Londoners embarked on a tour of North America. They've returned with three new players in the form of Swansea's Ben Davies and Michel Vorm and Eric Dier - and the signs are they aren't done spending yet.
Anyway, enough about Tottenham, what about their opponents this afternoon? Well, heralding from the football-daft region of Germany that is Gelsenkirchen, Schalke have already come up against Premier League opponents this summer at their own tournament. They didn't fair too badly against West Ham, beating the Londoners on penalties after a 0-0 draw, but things didn't go quite as well against Newcastle as they fell to a 3-1 defeat in front of their home fans.
Just under 10 minutes until kick off in North London so let's take a look at the team news shall we? We'll start with the hosts.
Eric Dier gets his first experience of White Hart Lane as he starts in defence. The teams are in the tunnel, both clad in their away kits. We're just waiting on the Star Wars theme music now...
The music, blares out around the Lane. This is hardly a duel of the fates, but it will give both sides a good idea of where they are ahead of their domestic campaigns kicking off next weekend.
HALF-TIME: SPURS 1-0 SCHALKE. No added time at the end of the first period and Boateng's deflected shot wide of Lloris's goal is the last action of the half. It's been a pleasing start to life at the Lane for the new Argentine boss, with Adebayor's well worked goal giving Spurs the lead at the break.
It is a pre-season friendly so changes are to be expected in the second half, but Spurs fans will want to see more of Lennon and Adebayor after that first half. Pochettino is lucky that he still has the chance to bring Holtby off, with the player avoiding a certain red card.
As I mentioned earlier, the Spurs away kit has stripes on the sleeve to commemorate the 10th anniversary of legendary manager Bill Nicholson's passing. The ten stripes also indicate the number of trophies he won as manager of the club.
Nicholson is also responsible for one of football's greatest quotes of all time, saying once: "It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory." Inspiring, eh?
Changes are to be made at the break by Pochettino. It looks as if Ben Davies, Andros Townsend and Harry Kane will be coming on. Will update with you who is off as soon as we know.
FULL-TIME: SPURS 2-1 SCHALKE. Tottenham get what they want from Pochettino's first game in charge at White Hart Lane. It was a promising performance, with the north Londoners creating chances and, more importantly, their top strikers finishing them in the form of Adebayor and Soldado.
Add into that promising displays from Eric Dier and Ben Davies, and all round it's been a good day's work for all involved. But that's your lot for now, thanks for joining me and be sure to tune in next week when the Premier League will be back, starting with Manchester United against Swansea. Until then, I've been Harry Slavin and it's goodbye for now!
