Minute
Description
85'
Sheffield United now have a corner, as Danny Collins clears the danger, just beating Jamie Murphy to a loose ball. Nothing comes of it, and Forest break the other way. Abdoun charges into the box with options, but has a go himself. His deflected shot is straight into the arms of Mark Howard.
82'
A counter attack produces the first chance for Sheffield United since their goal. Murphy charges forward on the right, with options in the center, but has a go himself, that gives De Vries some trouble thanks to a generous deflection.
80'
Perhaps a draw shouldn't come as such a surprise. Four of the last eight meetings between the two sides have ended in a draw, including three of the last four at Bramall Lane.
78'
D. Abdoun enters the game and replaces R. Majewski.
Back to back corners now awarded to Forest following Mackie's blocked shot, and the Blades are on their heels at the moment. Howard is fouled inside the box, however, and Sheffield ca temporarily relieve the pressure.
76'
The ensuing free kick is delivered by Reid, straight onto the head of Halford who puts it over the bar!
75'
N. Collins gets yellow.
Mackie is taken down now by Collins, stopping a break, and now he is shown a yellow card. Both centre-backs for the Blades are playing on a yellow now. Dangerous territory for the Blades.
73'
The visitors are upping the pressure here. Reid shows off his brilliant left foot once again, crossing in for Djebbour who just can't get to the ball in time for a shot. It ricochets out for Mackie, but his cross is to no one and cleared easily.
71'
Forest are really going for it here. Neither team would be happy with a replay, as they're locked in promotion and relegation battles in their respective leagues. Two new strikers on for Forest, who already look to have injected some life into the visiting side.
70'
R. Djebbour enters the game and replaces D. Henderson.
69'
Incredible save by Mark Howard! Reid's free kick is dipping and swerving away from the keeper, but he is just able to get a piece of it and prevent it from sneaking in under the bar!
68'
H. Maguire gets yellow.
Forest make a switch, and restart play with a bit of urgency. Reid makes a nice run and is taken down just outside the box by Maguire, winning a free kick in a dangerous area. Yellow card shown to the centre-back.
67'
J. Mackie enters the game and replaces S. Cox.
66'
C. Coady has scored a goal for Sheffield United!
GOAAAAAAAAAAAL! Conor Coady the hero this time for Sheffield! The midfielder takes advantage of a puzzling mix up at the back between defender and goalkeeper, as he pounces on a loose ball and taps it into the empty net.
63'
Can Sheffield find an equalizer? The Foresters have yet to concede a goal in this year's competition, through three matches, outscoring their opponents West Ham and Preston by a combined score of 7-0.
61'
Sheffield back the other way now, as Maguire picks out Murphy on the right with a good ball over the top. The forward crosses it in, but it's cleared for a corner kick. The corner is poor from Jose Baxter and De Vries collects.
59'
Great chance for Paterson! Actually, the chance wasn't great, but the shot was. The striker cuts in from the right at the top of the box, and has a shot, but his curling effort is palmed aside well by Howard. The ensuing corner produces another great chance, but Howard is again up to the task!
57'
Approaching the 60-minute mark, and nothing really has changed in the second half. Forest perhaps not as commanding in possession as they have been, but they just look so comfortable at the back.
54'
D. Fox gets yellow.
Sloppy start to this second half. Fox intercepts a pass and looks to push forward, but a heavy touch forces him to go in for another challenge, this time he gets all ankle, and as a result is shown a yellow card.
51'
Free kick now for the Blades from a distance. Harris tries to cross, but it's headed behind for a corner. The ensuing cross initiates a scramble inside the box, with the ball falling for Scougall. He puts his shot right at the keeper and Forest can relieve the early pressure from the Blades.
49'
Sheffield start up an attack of their own, as a string of passes works the ball out to Brayford on the right. His low cross is attacked by Murphy, but he can only get a soft touch on it as he tries to flick it towards goal.
48'
Physical start to the half here, as Simon Cox is taken down by a vicious tackle from Bob Harris, who tries to blame the slippery ground for the speed at which he went into that tackle. His remorse may have earned him a second chance, as referee Michael Oliver only shows him a yellow.
47'
R. Harris gets yellow.
46'
Underway here in the second half, as Forest kick-off and almost immediately concede possession.
45' +3
A. Reid gets yellow.
Michael Oliver graciously blows his half-time whistle, as we've reached the break here at Bramall Lane.
45' +2
Into the final minute of added time now, and Andy Reid picks up a yellow card much to his dismay. It didn't look like a hard foul, but may be the result of an accumulation of fouls committed throughout the first half.
45'
Forest lethargically win a corner, and come dangerously close to a second! The ball is whipped in and met at the far post, but trickles wide after a bit of a scramble in the box, and out for another corner. This time Howard is out to collect and the pressure is relieved.
42'
Play finally resumes, and it's Forest who go right back into their keep-away mode. Sheffield are being forced to chase the ball, much to the dismay of the home fans who don't like the defensive tactics of the Championship side.
39'
There's a bit of a delay now as Scougall is down clutching his ankle after a harmless looking play, chasing around the ball, applying pressure on the defenders.
37'
After a hectic ten minutes or so, Forest are trying to slow the tempo now, passing it amongst their defenders and keeper, which elicits a jeer from the Bramall Lane supporters.
35'
STAT ATTACK: Forest are in the midst of a 16-match unbeaten run in all competitions (9W, 7D). The last time they suffered defeat was November 29th, a 3-2 loss at home to Reading.
33'
Fantastic save from De Vries! Sheffield push forward on a counter, again through Jose Baxter. This time the midfielder cuts to the right and passes off left for Scougall whose low driven shot is commanded well by the keeper. Excellent work by him to get down quickly to his left, while moving in the opposite direction. Good chance there for an equalizer from the Blades.
30'
Forest commit a foul now in their own end, just to the left of the box, near the touch line. It's sent into a dangerous area, but eventually scrambled wide and out for a goal kick.
28'
J. Paterson has scored a goal for Nottingham Forest! Assist by A. Reid.
GOAAAAAAAAAL! It's a brilliant move from the Foresters! A string of passes lead to a cross at the near post for Paterson, whose header lofts over Howard and in at the far post! Superb finish from the striker, his fourth goal in the FA Cup this season!
26'
What a chance for the Blades to take the lead! Jose Baxter wins a tackle in midfield, and breaks two-on-two the other way with Scougall. The Englishman selfishly decides to have a shot however, using the defender as a screen. It's hit low and hard but De Vries is able to make the stop.
24'
Jose Baxter lets fly now at the other end, and it's hit well by the 22-year-old, but bounces right at De Vries. As they break the other way, Lascelles commits a hard foul on Baxter and is shown a yellow card.
23'
J. Lascelles gets yellow.
21'
Appeals for a penalty not given by Michael Oliver! Paterson flicks on for Henderson just outside the six-yard box and he goes to ground after a challenge from Maguire, but the referee did not see enough contact to give him the call.
19'
STAT ATTACK: The last meeting between these two teams was in March of 2011 in the Championship, at Bramall Lane, a match the Blades won 2-1 thanks to goals from Sam Vokes and Matthew Lowton.
17'
Reid runs down the left now at Brayford, and wins a corner. The cross in is good, but Howard does excellently to come out and collect at what appeared to be an awkward height for the goalkeeper.
15'
Forest now manage their first real attempt on goal, as Cox picks out Paterson at the top of the box with his head, but the midfielder can not keep his half-volley down as it sails well over the bar.
13'
Sheffield are keeping some solid pressure of their own, working it around well in the attacking third. They are unable to create any real chances, however, as it's given away and Forest can settle back into possession.
11'
First shot of the game goes to the Blades, however, as Brayford cuts in from his right-back position and has a weak effort on goal that De Vries is able to collect easily.
9'
Forest are getting more and more comfortable on the ball, passing it around with ease in midfield. Reid finds an opening and sends in Majewski, but his shot is blocked well by Maguire and bounces back off the legs of the Pole and out for a goal kick.
7'
The Foresters break the other way, and Paterson runs at defenders before cutting to the left and trying a ball over the top for Cox. The ball is poor, but Cox was in an offside position anyhow.
5'
Jose Baxter receives a pass in from Stefan Scougall and the Blades have an opportunity to loft a ball into the box from about 40 yards out. The cross is too heavy, however, and it runs out for a goal kick.
3'
Forest are content with keeping possession early on here, hardly pressing the ball very far up the pitch, as the two teams look to settle into the match.
1'
Sheffield United kick us off in their standard red and white kits, moving right to left, while Forest are sporting their white jerseys with red shorts.
Good afternoon FA Cup fans around the world, and welcome to today's fifth round tie between Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, with a spot in the quarter-finals at stake. I'm Alex Moretto and I'll be your in-game host, guiding you through the match LIVE as it happens!
Sheffield United are four time FA Cup winners: 1899, 1902, 1915 and 1925. They beat Colchester United, Cambridge United, Aston Villa and Fulham to reach this stage of the competition.
Nottingham Forest have twice won the FA Cup in their history, in 1898 and 1959. They beat West Ham United and Preston North End en route to the fifth round.
The teams have been announced, so let's have ourselves a look at today's starting line-ups:
Changes: Blades captain Michael Doyle returns to the lineup after serving his three match suspension, following a red card picked up in the previous round against Fulham, while Billy Paynter (on loan from Doncaster), Elliott Whitehouse and Callum McFadzean are all cup-tied.
Changes: Midfielder Guy Moussi is out after picking up a hamstring injury on Tuesday, while Djamel Abdoun and Henri Lansbury remain out due to injury.
STAT ATTACK: This is the 14th FA Cup meeting between the two sides, with Sheffield United winning seven times and Nottingham Forest three times.
We're about underway now. The managers shake hands, but they're hardly the best of friends after the touchline scuffle they had when Clough was the manager of Derby County, and the two managers locked horns on many occassions in the East Midlands derby.
HALF-TIME: Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Nottingham Forest. The visitors have looked comfortable for much of the opening 45 minutes, and have a lead to show for it. They are in command of the match, keeping possession well and forcing the Blades to chase the game. Barring an injection of life into Nigel Clough's team, the Foresters don't look like squandering this advantage.
STAT ATTACK: Nottingham Forest lost 2-1 to Tottenham in the 1991 final, under manager Brian Clough, the father of current Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough, who started the match at forward (one of his over 300 appearances for the Foresters).
The Star Wars theme echoes through the loudspeakers here at Bramall Lane as the players take to the pitch for the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: SHEFFIELD UNITED 3-1 NOTTINGHAM FOREST. An inspired five minutes from the Blades trumps a strong 85 minutes played by the Foresters, and earns Sheffield United a place in the quarter-finals and a possible date with their cross-town rivals.
That will do it from Bramall Lane. I'm Alex Moretto, and I'd like to thank you all for joining me here today. Good bye.
