Mike Dean is the referee for today and he gets us underway at a windy and rain-drenched Selhurst Park.
Happy New Year to all and a warm welcome to live text coverage of the Premier League encounter between Crystal Palace and Norwich City from Selhurst Park, south London.
Palace come into this New Year's Day clash on the back of a stirring performance at Manchester City that nearly yielded a favourable result, but for Edin Dzeko's second-half winner. The Eagles sit just three points behind their visitors and will leapfrog them with victory, making this a hugely significant fixture for both clubs at the start of 2014.
Despite a hefty outlay in the summer transfer window, visitors Norwich have struggled for consistency this season and sit just three points above the relegation zone. The Canaries will hope to start the new year by ending a four-match winless run and putting some distance between them and the relegation dogfight.
TEAM NEWS: Palace midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi starts after recovering from a muscle injury while defender Michael Turner returns from a one-match ban for Norwich. Full line-ups to follow shortly.
Well. That game came to life in the last 10 minutes after a relatively dour half hour of football. Palace will be happy they equalised so quickly and will hope to kick on and win the game from here. Do stick around for the second period.
So a decent point for Norwich, who must have feared the worst when Fer got sent off. A point does neither team much good, however, with both clubs still languishing in the lower reaches of the league table. That's it for our coverage but do check back into the website a bit later for live commentary of Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur. Bye for now.
