Campeonato Paulista: Uniao Barbarense 1 Sao Paulo 2
Sao Paulo secured top spot in the Campeonato Paulista with a 2-1 win at Uniao Barbarense on Wednesday.
Aloisio, who was sent off in the second half, and a Cesar own goal were enough for Ney Franco's men, cancelling out Cesinha's 27th-minute effort.
With two matches remaining this season, Sao Paulo are seven points clear of second-placed Ponte Preta.
They had already booked their spot in the quarter-finals but are now guaranteed to finish top.
Uniao Barbarense, hoping to avoid relegation, opened the scoring through Cesinha, who volleyed in after a corner went uncleared.
The equaliser came 14 minutes later as Aloisio – with his back to goal – smartly headed in a Thiago Carleto free-kick.
He went from hero to villain five minutes after the restart, sent off having picked up his second yellow card.
But despite being down to 10 men, the visitors went ahead when Cesar put a corner past Walter in the 55th minute.
Walter kept the hosts in the game in the 89th minute, diving to his left to palm away Osvaldo's penalty.
His side were unable to capitalise in the dying stages, leaving them two points from safety after a run of three games without a win.
