There will be one final chance, Juve corner and even Buffon is up! Sampdoria survive once more though.
90' +4
A. Pirlo gets yellow.
M. Icardi gets yellow.
Vucinic is free in the area, but he cannot pull the trigger. Costa scrambles clear, and Juve win the free kick 40 metres from goal.
A bizarre decision. Pirlo fires the ball into Icardi who had failed to retreat 10m, and both are booked. Why, I could not tell you.
90' +3
The midfielder looks in bad shape, he is stretchered off covered in a blanket as Juve begin their final assault on this match.
90' +1
Now just to add injury to insult, Marchisio is down on the turf clutching his knee and he looks in some discomfort. No subs left on the Juve side.
We will have four minutes of injury time in Juventus Stadium, although that could be extended because of Marchisio's misfortune.
90'
Time is running out now as we move into injury time, Sampdoria have put in a sterling defensive effort throughout the 90 minutes to keep their rivals at bay.
88'
In a rare foray into the Juve area, Tissone tries to kill the game off but is thwarted by the attentions of Bonucci.
87'
F. Peluso gets yellow.
86'
Almost the equaliser!! Padoin fires in a wicked shot with the left, and Romero gets down well to parry. Vucinic is closing in, but the Argentine recovers at the double to fall down on the rebound like a hand grenade.
85'
Lazio are another team that will be willing forward Samp. If the result stays the same, the Roman side move within five points of the summit.
84'
I've lost count of how many corners Juve have had today, but they've been in vain. A Pirlo delivery is cleared to the edge of the box, and Marchisio volleys well wide to his obvious disgust.
Minute
Description
83'
S. Romero gets yellow.
82'
Just over 10 minutes to go with injury time, another corner. And another as Gastaldello clears. It runs long, and the away team partially clear to give themselves a moment to prepare for the latest onslaught.
80'
F. Tissone enters the game and replaces N. Krstičić.
Substitute Giaccherini is called back for a handball, and his team-mates are rather irked at the decision. Another respite for Sampdoria, who will send this free-kick as far as possible up the other end.
78'
By my count there were eight Juve players in the Sampdoria final third for that last corner, this is desperate attacking. But still the away team hold out, and win a foul in defence.
77'
G. Munari enters the game and replaces Éder.
Mirko, how did you miss Mirko???!!!! The striker looks set to poke in at the far post, but somehow lets the ball escape from his grasp and scuffs wide.
76'
N. Krstičić gets yellow.
Krsticic downs Quagliarella somewhat unnecessarily near the halfway line, and earns a yellow card.
74'
This would be a huge win for Sampdoria if they can hold on. The three points would lift them up to 14th, four clear of the drop zone.
72'
Unbelievable!!!! Vucinic has the goal at his mercy, he smashes home but the ball crashes against the crossbar down on the goalline, and it's clear. We're in for a gripping last 20 minutes here.
71'
E. Giaccherini enters the game and replaces P. Pogba.
70'
Juventus look absolutely shell-shocked, this game looked as good as over at half-time but they are doing their very best to throw it away.
69'
GOOOOOOOOOL!!!! I can't believe my eyes!! The Juve defence is once more nowhere to be seen, and Icardi picks up a decent ball from Obiang and from an acute angle blasts into the roof of the net. 2-1 Sampdoria, my oh my!!
68'
M. Icardi has scored a goal for Sampdoria! Assist by Pedro Obiang.
Vucinic twists and turns on the edge of the box, and looks for Quagliarella. It's too long though, and Romero scoops up the ball.
67'
Pogba takes the ball from Marchisio, turns his marker and shoots, but it's comfortably wide.
66'
And it's Icardi this time who tries to break through. Peluso did well to get his body in the way, and does enough to kill the attack.
64'
Brilliant, brilliant stuff from Eder. He ran some 60 metres to stretch Juve on the counter, and after turning Bonucci at the back forced a decent save from Buffon.
62'
M. Vučinić enters the game and replaces P. De Ceglie.
F. Quagliarella enters the game and replaces A. Matri.
So close to a Genoese second. Poli does his very best to meet a bouncing cross on the volley, but his effort goes just over the bar.
61'
Here come the cavalry. Two changes for the home team, will that change their fortunes?
60'
Lovely passing from Sampdoria, effortlessly stroking the ball across the pitch. The move is cut short on the edge of the box when Eder is felled by Barzagli, legally according to the official.
59'
What can Juve do to turn this round in front of their own fans? One thing's for certain, with the likes of Vucinic, Vidal, Isla and Giaccherini on the bench they're not short of a bit of talent.
57'
A hint of a chance for Matri, who glances a cross well wide of the post.
56'
Barzagli releases the shot from distance, but Romero saves well and holds the ball. The Samp half is a sea of black and white shirts right now.
55'
Pogba is biting and snapping at the ankles of Poli as the midfielder is penned in right by his own corner flag. He does well though to shrug off the Frenchman, and clear to the relative safety of the middle of the pitch.
54'
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!! And it's Sampdoria's!!!!! Juventus are napping on the break, and Icardi takes full advantage with a half-volley that just squeezes past Buffon.
That goal came out of nowhere, literally from the darkest recesses of the world. The hosts were coasting but were lax at the back, they've been punished by Sampdoria who look delighted.
52'
M. Icardi has scored a goal for Sampdoria! Assist by N. Krstičić.
51'
Another corner kick is cleared, but still Juve remain with the ball.
50'
De Ceglie has it out wide, and he seeks the yellow mohawk of Pogba in the box. Costa is there first, and heads out for a corner.
49'
The home team are in complete control right now, pushing Sampdoria back into their own half and patiently waiting for the gaps to appear. So far though, the visitors hold firm.
48'
Pirlo works it short, and Giovinco crosses to the near post. No bother for Romero, who claims easily.
47'
Matri looks to make the difference early and swings in a cross, but it is headed away well by Palombo. Corner to Juve though.
46'
L. De Silvestri enters the game and replaces M. Estigarribia.
Here we go again. Juve kick off and immediately settle into possession.
45' +1
And that's half time. It's been breathless stuff, full of incident and controversy, and we've still got 45 minutes to go. Can you take it? Let's take a rest and come back in a few short moments.
45'
Yet another corner for Juve as we approach the end of the first half, flashed across goal without friend nor foe making contact.
44'
Uff devilish delivery from Estigarribia, he hit well but the ball whistled inches past Buffon's left post.
43'
Poli is pole-axed by Pirlo (try saying that quickly 10 times) and this is a chance for Sampdoria, a free-kick just outside the box.
42'
Again though, the 10-man away team are strong. Giovinco thinks he has got the best of his marker, but he did so with a foul and the defenders are given a respite.
41'
It's Padoin this time with the cross, captain Gastaldello has no choice but to fire behind his goal and concede the corner.
40'
Giovinco jinks and jives down by the goal-line, and forces a free-kick in a very dangerous position. Pirlo fires in, but Sampdoria hold firm to keep out the old maestro.
39'
L. Bonucci gets yellow.
Yellow card for Bonucci, who was possibly a little lucky there after shoving an elbow into his opponent's face. This game's getting rather nasty.
38'
Juventus are starting to turn the screw. Giovinco flashes a cross into the box and it is picked up deep by Marchisio, who fires his shot into the side-netting.
36'
Is that another penalty?? No, Matri is clean through and pushed by Palombo, but the referee deems that the striker committed a foul in the build-up. Well, after a penalty and a red card something had to go Samp's way!!
34'
One goal down, and now one man down. Sampdoria have endured a torrid run in the league during recent months, and it would take a brave man indeed to predict a comeback against the champions and leaders.
32'
G. Berardi gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
It's a red card!! Things are getting worse for the visitors. Berardi unleashes a vicious two-footed tackle on Barzagli by the left touchline, and is shown a straight red to the chagrin of his team-mates.
31'
Estigarribia puts in a better delivery, flashed across the goal. But there is no-one there but Pirlo, who clears with class. Let's be honest, he does everything with class.
30'
And we're back up the other end!! Peluso clears behind his own goal, Sampdoria corner.
29'
Close now for the home team. Pogba just fails to acrobatically connect with a cross, and it's deflected behind for a corner. There's a scramble from Pirlo's kick and it looks over the line, Romero holds it just the right side.... No goal given!!! Phew, it's getting hectic over here.
27'
P. Pogba gets yellow.
There was more than a hint of handball in that last passage from Andrea Barzagli, and Sampdoria wanted a penalty. Unfortunately for the Genoese team, none of the officials agreed.
26'
The away team are trying to break through and Poli nearly manages to unlock the defence, just failing to take the ball with him as he burst into the area.
24'
Penalty goal scored by S. Giovinco for Juventus!
Sampdoria had been holding their own these first 20 minutes, but you really cannot make those kind of tackles in the box without being penalised. Bone-headed stuff from Berardi, who panicked at the sight of Marchisio charging through.
And Giovinco to score!!!!!!!!! Right into the left-hand corner by the youngster, Romero guessed right but could not quite reach.
23'
G. Berardi gets yellow.
22'
Penalty Juventus!! Not too much doubt about that one. The hosts stroked the ball around well leaving Marchisio to march into the area, eventually being scissored down by Berardi. Giovinco to take.
20'
Wonderful save Sergio!! Romero thinks quick and bats away Giovinco's effort with one hand. The striker had an acute angle, but he was still one-on-one with the Argentine.
19'
Now Eder is down and in some discomfort, he was clattered from behind by Peluso. It's a foul, but no other punishment is coming.
18'
Could have been 1-0 for the visitors!!!! Sampdoria press forward and the home team hesitate in clearing, leaving Poli free just inside the box. His shot isn't good enough, however, and it's a fairly simple stop for Buffon.
17'
A. Poli gets yellow.
16'
Estigarribia's back on the pitch, and he's going to take a corner won by himself off the legs of Bonucci. It's long though, and Juventus look to reassert their authority.
14'
De Ceglie sends in another cross, and this one takes a wicked deflection. Romero had to be alert as the ball was sent hurtling in his direction, but the keeper was safe enough.
13'
The pressure is building on Sampdoria. The strugglers are pinned in their own half right now and unable to keep possession, while Juve probe in search of an opener.
11'
Ooooooh now that wasn't very far away!! Padoin does brilliantly on the right to turn his marker, and the ball is sent on the deck to Giovinco. The kid has space, but sends his shot over the bar with a clear sight on goal.
9'
This looks bad for Estigarribia. He was twisting and turning on the edge of the box, and was betrayed by the heavy turf. The midfielder's being stretchered off, his game may be coming to an early end.
7'
Uff, Marcelo Estigarribia is incensed at his team-mate! The Paraguayan had made space and wanted the ball threaded through into the box, but the pass was far too heavy and it's a goal kick.
6'
Romero!!! The Argentine keeper hesitated for a moment in coming out for a low cross, but eventually reacted and did well to smother at the feet of Giovinco.
4'
Route one from the Genoa club. Berardi is the target for an ambitious long pass, but it runs out harmlessly for a goal kick.
3'
Juve in possession now down the left, De Ceglie and Marchisio try to work the ball into the box but Sampdoria are resolute.
2'
Peluso right into the action, he goes down clutching his face after a tussle on the left touchline. Nothing much in that, Eder was nowhere near his opponent.
1'
And we're away! Sampdoria get us started as they seek three crucial points in their relegation battle.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, hello and welcome to today's coverage of Juventus vs. Sampdoria. Yes, the Serie A is back after taking a break for the festive period and so am I, Daniel Edwards. Happy 2013 everyone.
Why don't we have a look at these teams for today. Juve will look a little something like this... Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci, Peluso, Padoin, Pogba, Pirlo, Marchisio, De Ceglie, Matri, Giovinco.
And now, of course, for Sampdoria.. Romero, Gastaldello, Palombo, Costa, Berardi, Krsticic, Obiang, Poli, Estigarribia, Eder, Icardi.
A big day for Federico Peluso, who makes his Juve debut days after completing a loan move from Atalanta. How will the defender and Italy international get on in his new home?
Pretty straightforward for Juve so far, they've gone into the lead and will be looking to extend it after the break. Sampdoria have got the extra disadvantage of the red, but as long as it stays 1-0 hope remains.
THAT'S IT!!!! Final whistle in Juventus Stadium, Sampdoria complete an unforgettable comeback as they come back to win 2-1. That could be a massive result for the Genoese club as they fight against a return to Serie B.
Icardi is the man of the hour for Delio Rossi's men, but questions must be asked of Juventus who despite dominating the match, finish well beaten. They did not manage a single goal in open play, a damning statistic.
Well that's all from me today. I've been Daniel Edwards, and it was a pleasure to share with you a pulsating clash in Turin. Until the next one, football fans.
