Klose backs Germany to win Euro 2012

Germany striker Miroslav Klose believes his side are well equipped to win Euro 2012, describing them as 'the strongest team in Europe'.

The Lazio forward, who will miss Friday's international friendly against next year's co-hosts Ukraine with a knee injury, is confident that Joachim Loew has put together the right mix of players who will ensure a formidable challenge next summer.

"This Germany is the strongest team in Europe," Klose said.

"We can win the European Championships next summer without any doubt."

Klose has been in sensational form in Serie A, helping his side join Udinese at the top of the league.

"I am having a splendid time at Lazio," said the 33-year-old, who moved to Italy from Bayern Munich in the summer.

The Germany international has scored six goals in 10 league matches this term for his new side.

Howedes seeks regular Germany role

Schalke defender Benedikt Howedes says he is striving to become a regular member of the German national team.

The versatile 23-year-old is behind the likes of Per Mertesacker and Mats Hummels in the defensive pecking order, but says he is happy to play wherever Germany coach Joachim Loew chooses to deploy him.

"We are always pleased to travel with the national team. There is always international experience at stake and it's unique," said Howedes.

"Whether (the experience) is in the starting line-up, that remains to be seen, but I think there are two or three other players who are fighting for a starting berth in defence."

"Of course I am trying to attract attention with my performances, but where I play is decided by the coach."

Germany play away to Ukraine in a friendly international on Friday, before hosting the Netherlands on Tuesday.
