but what happened to the dictator in the end? he got over thrown by the people! history has showed us time and time again that violence cannot be solved by more violence!

im not saying that the police shouldnt be tougher and the rules stricter, but beating the crap out of them with batons is not a long term solution.... |

im not completely sure im understanding you... are you being serious about using machine guns against them or joking? im hoping the latter but i'll assume your not for the sake of your argument.

if you used machine guns against these "hooligans" it will extend beyond the footballing world. all of the citizens of (lets say) italy would rise up in anger. randomly killing people for being mischievous! the citizens of italy and other countries around the world would start riots and killing sprees around the country which would lead to the downfall of the government, police etc... but surly i misunderstood you. your not making that argument are you? |

i know deep down that you know that if you start machine gunning hooligans you will not only kill them but also innocent people, and it will have huge repercussions beyond the footballing world, as i stated before. the only way to stop it is to stop change the culture and ideas of the society, which is much harder than shooting people i know, but provides a good long term solution and benefits the nation as a whole

no i haven't lived in any of those places. i have lived in new york city (manhattan) my whole life. 20 years ago, when my dad moved here the crime rate was unbelievable. there were drug dealers everywhere, shootings, muggings etc... the police didnt do anything. then the police started to crackdown on the dealers and criminals. they didn't just shoot them to get rid of them but put them in jail for long periods of time. they found out that the criminals consisted of about 1,500 people doing 65% of the crime, and thats in a huge city like new york. this is comparable to the hooligan situation. the law system for the most part in europe is too weak. if they made the law system tougher on criminals i honestly believe that these things wouldn't happen as much if not at all, without having to kill, and maybe anger a whole country. if it worked on criminals in (what used to be) one of the most dangerous cities in the world i think it can work on a few hooligans...

as for changing the culture its hard but can be done. its not like we're trying to change the way they live, just education them about not being hooligans. its not like there are even that many. it only takes a few to start a riot. |
