This is a tough group and there is a very real possibility that Portugal may not qualify !!

Well, we scraped past Montenegro, as SoccerWay likes to put it, but we are still undefeated in our group and top of the log.
on Italy scrape past minnows Montenegro (2)
Somehow, Italy is always expected to play beautiful, scintillating football and when we don't everyone is immdtly ready to criticise. The truth is, there isn't one single team in this world that always plays great. |

Fred,
on Quick Report: Italy beat brave Montenegro (4)
I guess you're right. The Azzurri always seem to need the right stimulus to play convincingly. We are always at our best when we play against very strong teams, such as Brazil, Germany, etc. I was born in Italy, I'm Italian and I'm proud of it !!! |

Now that's really funny !!!! Somehow I don't think that Tunisia would accept to play under these circumstances !!!!! |

As I said once before: assuming that England qualify for the 2010 World Cup, this is their first real chance of winning the competition, since 1966.

And Fabio Capello seems to have the respect of everyone, like he's always had, for that matter. |

I'll be interesting to see if any major European clubs will be forced into bankruptcy. |

Fred,
on Rumours suggest that Benitez could be in line for ailing Juventus (8)
I agree with you about most of the guys listed in your message. However, Fabio Capello was a great midfield player, who played for Milan, Juventus and the Italian national team. |

Fred,
on Paraguay shock Italy at Futsal World Cup (7)
This is 5-a-side soccer, played indoors on a very small pitch. And this is umpteenth example that this website is biased. Not a single line of news, when Italy won all its previous matches, including against Portugal (one of the pre-tournament favourites). |

I suppose you're right, the cup can be half full, or half empty, depending which way one looks at it. And the same time, I'm sure you must have gathered that I'm not fanatical about these things. But I do appreciate intelligent comments from people like you. |

The biggest expense item for any football club is the players' salaries. And I cannot see European players agreeing to reduce their salaries.
on UEFA official suggests debt-laden clubs facing red card (6)
After all, a football club is a business like any other and it's up to management to find a solution. And I stand by what I said a few weeks ago: only the extremely wealthy will be able to own and run football clubs. |
