Stuttgart have sacked coach Thomas Schneider, replacing him with former Schalke boss Huub Stevens.
The Mercedes-Benz Arena outfit sit just a point clear of the Bundesliga relegation zone having taken a single point from their last nine top-flight games.
Stuttgart gave up a 2-1 lead to draw 2-2 with bottom side Eintracht Braunschweig at home on Saturday, with Schneider insisting after that match that he would not resign.
However, the club's board has decided to act, with assistants Alfons Higl and Tomislav Maric also being relieved of their duties.
In a statement released on Stuttgart's official website, president Bernd Wahler commented: "The board has made this decision together with Thomas Schneider ... with the current sporting situation required in the consciousness of responsibility to the club to take this serious step."
Wahler went on to hint former Stuttgart player Schneider could return at some point, saying the 41-year-old will "be active for the club in the future".
Dutchman Stevens will take over on Monday, with his first game coming at Werder Bremen next Saturday.
The vastly experienced 60-year-old, who has also managed the likes of Hamburg, PSV Eindhoven and Hertha Berlin, as well as two spells in charge of Schalke, was sacked by Greek Super League club PAOK earlier this month.
