Dunga unveiled as Brazil coach

22 July 2014 16:05

Dunga has been appointed as Brazil coach for a second time following the resignation of Luiz Felipe Scolari.

The 50-year-old was sacked by the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) after Brazil were knocked out of the 2010 World Cup at the quarter-final stage, but has been given another opportunity to lead his country.

Dunga, captain of the Brazil side that won the World Cup in the United States 20 years ago, was unveiled a press conference on Tuesday.

Scolari stepped down after the five-times world champions were subjected to a humiliating 7-1 hammering at the hands of Germany in the World Cup semi-final in Belo Horizonte earlier this month.

Former midfielder Dunga masterminded Brazil's Copa America triumph in 2007 and Confederations Cup success two years later.

He has now been charged with the task of taking his country forward in a new era following the disappointment of their failure to win the World Cup for the first time on home soil.

Dunga said on Tuesday: "Brazil aren't the best in the world anymore, as it used to be.

"But with hard work from now on, we can reach our goal once again."
