Everton confirm Traore arrival

24 January 2014 18:35

Everton have confirmed the loan signing of Lacina Traore from Monaco until the end of the season.

The Premier League club were granted a work permit for the Ivorian on Tuesday, but feared the deal may fall through after Monaco's Radamel Falcao suffered a season-ending knee injury earlier this week.

However, Monaco have still sanctioned Traore's departure, providing Roberto Martinez with an additional attacking option for the remainder of the campaign.

A statement on Everton's official website read: "Everton have signed striker Lacina Traore on loan from AS Monaco until the end of the season.

"Traore, a 23-year-old Ivory Coast international, was granted a work permit on Tuesday and terms for the completion of the deal have now been agreed.

"The forward will require a visa before playing for the Toffees, a formality that is expected to be completed in the coming days.

"He will then head to Merseyside until the conclusion of the 2013/14 campaign."

Traore only moved to Monaco earlier this month, signing a four-and-half-year-deal following his switch from Anzhi Makhachkala.
