De Jong hints at Monchengladbach exit

13 January 2014 16:25

Borussia Monchengladbach's Luuk de Jong does not feel his situation at the club is likely to improve under coach Lucien Favre.

The Netherlands international has been linked with Premier League sides Stoke City and Newcastle United in recent months after finding first-team opportunities hard to come by at Borussia-Park.

He made a reasonable start to life in Germany during his debut campaign last season, scoring six Bundesliga goals in 23 appearances.

However, he is yet to start a game this term and admits he may have to look elsewhere, having been frozen out by Favre.

"The coach doesn't make me feel like he likes me and wants me to fulfill my potential," De Jong told Bild.

"He hardly talks to me.

"I would like to forget the last half a year. I can see my position not improving anytime soon."

De Jong won both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Beker during his three-year spell at Twente, scoring 25 league goals in 33 starts in his final season there.
