Primeria Liga: Braga 3 Vitoria Guimaraes 0

10 January 2014 23:20

Raul Rusescu's brace helped Braga close to within a point of fifth-placed Vitoria Guimaraes with a convincing 3-0 home win on Friday.

Felipe Pardo opened the scoring for Braga after 31 minutes following good work from Rafa Silva, before Rusescu took centre stage in the second half.

The Romanian forward scored twice in the space of six minutes, with the influential Silva supplying a sublime assist for his second.

Guimaraes, who had been unbeaten in four league games, fell behind when Silva evaded a number of challenges before working the ball to the right for Pardo to slot under goalkeeper Douglas Jesus.

A low cross from Alan left Rusescu with the simple task of tapping in and doubling Braga's lead in the 66th minute.

Rusescu then applied a second close-range finish, having been picked out by a glorious centre from Silva, delivered with the outside of his right boot.
