Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed centre-back Phil Jagielka will miss England's friendly with Denmark next Wednesday.
England boss Roy Hodgson names his squad for the Denmark game on Thursday, but Martinez has already revealed Jagielka will not be involved due to a hamstring injury.
Speaking at a press conference, the Spaniard said: "Phil has felt his hamstring over the last couple of days and will be missing at the weekend (for Everton's home match against West Ham) and for England."
"I don't think it's going to be a long-term injury but Phil is going to be missing for a couple of weeks."
Martinez was able to offer a more positive injury update regarding on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku, who is set to return from an ankle injury against West Ham on Saturday.
"Romelu has been training really well in the last 10 days," added Martinez.
"Obviously he wasn’t available for the Chelsea game (as he was not eligible to face his parent club), but even then I think he could have made that squad.
"From a physical point of view, the injury has come at a good moment; it’s given him a bit of a break, it’s refreshed him, and he’s desperate (to make an impact) now.
"You see in training exactly the same desire as the first week he came and that’s exciting.
"I feel, as a player, he's going to the next level now. I've been very impressed with the way he approaches the game.
"As a number nine he’s as complete as you’re going to get in world football - a rare breed."
It remains to be seen whether another loanee, Lacina Traore, will be able to represent Everton again this season as the club await a further update on the forward's hamstring injury.
Asked whether Traore's loan from Monaco could be cancelled, Martinez replied: "It would depend on the length of time that he needs to recover.
"We're going to find out in the next couple of days what’s the treatment route that we have to go down, but the relationship with Monaco is very good and we want the best for the player.
"If it's only a matter of three, four weeks, clearly we want Lacina to be here until the end (of the season).
"If it's going to be anything longer than two or three months, clearly the loan period is over. The only thing we're focusing on now is that Lacina gets the right treatment."
