Suarez hopes for ´enormous´ Arsenal win

6 February 2014 09:42

Liverpool talisman Luis Suarez believes victory over league leaders Arsenal on Saturday would be an "enormous" boost to the squad.

Brendan Rodgers' side are eight points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table, however their spot in the final UEFA Champions League place is under threat from Everton, Tottenham and Manchester United.

With Liverpool hosting the London club this weekend Suarez knows this is the perfect opportunity to strengthen their grip on fourth, having failed to win just twice at Anfield all season.

Although Arsenal were comfortable 2-0 winners when the two sides met at the Emirates Stadium in November, the Uruguayan, who has scored 23 league goals this season, is confident his side can triumph.

"Arsenal are the leaders in the table and victory would be good for morale, give the whole squad an enormous injection and reduce the points difference at the top," he is quoted by The Daily Mirror.

"We didn't have success at the Emirates so our objective now is to win and I believe we have that chance.

"It has been such a hard season. It's rare that everything could be decided on the last day but we must keep going and to ensure that happens we need results against the other main candidates."

Defender Martin Skrtel agrees with Suarez and expects home advantage to help them secure a 15th league victory of the season.

"I'm confident we can beat Arsenal. We definitely have the strength to do so," he added. "They are the leaders at the moment but we can give them a hard time.

"It won't be an easy game but I am sure we can do something in front of our fans."
