Ibrahimovic extends PSG deal

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has signed a one-year contract extension at Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The Sweden international striker, who joined from Milan in July 2012 and has committed to the club until 2016, scored 30 goals last season as PSG claimed their first top-flight crown in 19 years.

The 31-year-old, who scored in the 1-1 draw against Monaco on Sunday, revealed that the ambition of the club helped him to make the decision to extend his stay.

"I don't see a more ambitious club in Europe than Paris Saint-Germain," he told the club's official website.

"My wish is that Paris Saint-Germain is my last big club. This club is like me: the dream is never big enough."

Laurent Blanc's men are unbeaten in their opening six league matches and also kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory at Olympiacos.

Club president Nasser Al-Khelafi added that retaining Ibrahimovic represented a significant step in PSG's plan to become a dominant force in European football.

"The desire of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, one of the best players in the world, to leave a long and lasting legacy at Paris Saint-Germain is a very strong sign," he said.

"Together, we share the same ambition, to take the club to the summits of the European game."
