Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane have notched braces as Los Angeles Galaxy crushed Chivas USA 5-0 in the MLS SuperClasico.
Keane scored in the sixth and 90th minutes on Sunday, while Donovan found the back of the net twice in the first half, as he drew level with Jeff Cunningham as the MLS' all-time leading goal-scorer.
Donovan moved above former DC United and MetroStars forward Jaime Moreno (133 goals) on the all-time table and drew level with Cunningham (134) in style, when he expertly chipped Chivas' goalkeeper Dan Kennedy with four minutes until the break.
Donovan's achievement was the key highlight in a one-sided LA derby with the American playmaker cutting back to Keane after five minutes for the Galaxy's opening goal.
Gyasi Zardes, who had started the move for Keane's opener, then teed up Donovan at the back post in the 23rd minute after a powerful run down the left.
Zardes got on the scoresheet himself just three minutes later when he smashed the ball home from inside the box after Keane's attempted shot was deflected into the 22-year-old's path.
In the 41st minute, Donovan notched his 134th goal in the MLS, sprinting onto Pablo Mastroeni's chip over the top of Chivas' defence and then delightfully dinking the ball over the advancing Kennedy at full pace.
Keane also grabbed a double when he brought down Laurent Courtois' lofted pass on his chest just before second-half stoppage time and then slotted the ball past Kennedy.
Galaxy remain fourth in the Western Conference after they moved to 48 points with their big win over Chivas, while LA's second team are rooted to the bottom of the standings with just 26.
In Sunday's other match, Camilo Sanvezzo scored twice as Vancouver Whitecaps clinched a 2-2 draw versus their Cascadia Cup rivals, Portland Timbers.
Sanvezzo equalised twice in three minutes as he struck in the 76th minute before Will Johnson put Portland 2-1 ahead immediately afterwards.
But Vancouver claimed a point when Sanvezzo scored again in the 78th minute.
Darlington Nagbe had scored the opening goal for the visiting Timbers in the 41st minute.
Portland sit two points ahead of the Galaxy in the Eastern Conference, while Vancouver are on 42 points, six adrift of the Colorado Rapids, who hold the final playoff spot in the East.
