Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic would welcome Manchester United's Wayne Rooney at the Parc des Princes.
The England international was linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the close-season, with the Ligue 1 champions one of the club's reportedly having chased him.
While a transfer failed to materialise, Ibrahimovic was hopeful that Rooney would move to the French capital and has confirmed that he would still be keen for the striker to join the club in future.
"When there was talk of Rooney joining us in Paris it was a prospect that excited me," he said.
"I think he made it clear in the summer that he wanted a fresh challenge and things have not been going so well for Manchester United this season.
"If he still wants to move next summer, or in January, I would urge him to come and play with me in Paris. The only direction this club is going is up."
The Sweden international, who recently signed a one-year contract extension at the club, added that he considers Rooney to be among the best players in the world.
"If he did join he would have to get used to the fact that Zlatan scores even better goals than him, but I don't just want to play with great players, I want to play with technically great players - and that is what he is," the former Milan striker added.
"You can work on the technical side but it is not something you can be taught. You have it or you don't and Rooney does."
