Klopp ecstatic with Aubameyang start

2 October 2013 15:11

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has lavished praise upon Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's early performances at the club.

Aubameyang has scored six goals in 12 games since completing a close-season move from Saint-Etienne, helping fill the void left by Mario Gotze's departure to Bayern Munich.

The attacker turned in another fine performance on Tuesday as Dortmund cruised past Marseille 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League, and the Signal Iduna Park boss believes that he can only get better.

"He's great, a really great player and a great guy," Klopp said of the Gabon international. "He's really made a magnificent impact and made an great impression.

"He's integrated into the team nicely and he fits in well with everything regarding tactics and our style of play. He is willing to improve more and more.

"His pace is incredible and he's also technically strong, even though he hasn't really had the chance to show much of it yet. But we are expecting a lot from him in the future. He is a great player and we are very pleased with him."

Klopp opted to hand a Champions League debut to back-up goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak against the French side, in place of the suspended Roman Weidenfeller.

Langerak has already matched his highest number of appearances in a season for the German side this term, with five, and was ecstatic to make his European bow, as well as keeping a clean sheet.

The Australian beamed: "It's something that I'll remember for a very long time. To come out on to the pitch and hear the anthem, it was honestly unbelievable.

"To come off the pitch knowing that we won and got the three points was even better but just to be out there making my first game in front of the best fans in the world it was unreal."
