Pulis perfect for Palace, says Millen

24 November 2013 09:50

Keith Millen feels Crystal Palace have got the right man for the job after they appointed Tony Pulis as manager on Saturday.

Pulis was confirmed as Ian Holloway's successor shortly before Palace's 1-0 win at Hull City, which marked only their second win in what has so far been a difficult season for the London club.

Millen has taken charge of Palace's last four games, but always maintained he was not the man to take the Selhurst Park outfit forward.

And the 47-year-old, who played under Pulis for six months during his time at Bristol City, believes the former Stoke City boss has the experience necessary to give Palace a chance of remaining in the Premier League.

"I said from the start what was needed was someone with experience at this level," Millen said.

"Tony was top of my list and I am delighted he is on board as the new manager of this football club.

"I am sure he will be pleased to see the way the team performed today (Saturday) and gives him something to work with.

Millen is eager to remain with Palace as part of Pulis' backroom staff, and he revealed that he is set to meet with the 55-year-old on Monday.

"I will meet with Tony on Monday," he added.

"I know him as I played for him in my playing days and as I have said before I would like to stay.

"He needs to assess the group really quickly, we have a week now before another big game against Norwich City and he will need to get to know the players and hopefully I can help him."
