Busquets: Milan win vital

6 November 2013 23:20

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets reflected on a job well done after Milan were beaten 3-1 at Camp Nou.

After Lionel Messi ended his three-match goalless run by opening the scoring from the penalty spot, Busquets doubled Barcelona's advantage in the 40th minute.

However, a Gerard Pique own goal brought Milan back into the tie and the Spanish champions came under significant pressure in the second half before Messi wrapped up the points with his second seven minutes from time.

Barca now sit on the verge of qualifying for the knockout stages and a satisfied Busquets said: "(It was) mission accomplished."

The 25-year-old added: "I think we played a good first half and we suffered a bit in the second half but the victory leaves us in a very good position in the group.

"They (Milan) changed tactically and we struggled a bit, but when the third goal arrived everything was easier."

Busquets said he was always confident Messi would rediscover his scoring form.

"It was only a matter of matches and in front of goal Lionel Messi is always a machine," he said.

"He has scored two (in this match) and I hope he can continue that way."
