Nasri denies PSG rumours

19 May 2013 17:31

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has rubbished reports linking him with a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Nasri, 25, has been far from his best for City this season, starting just 21 Premier League matches and scoring only two goals.

The Frenchman was publicly criticised by former City manager Roberto Mancini earlier this season and that – in addition to his fall down the club's pecking order – has led to him being linked with moves elsewhere.

Nasri, however, has distanced himself from the speculation, telling Telefoot: "Next year I'm staying in Manchester. PSG is just a rumour. Nobody contacted me."

The former Arsenal man was recalled to the France squad on Thursday for their upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Brazil.

Nasri lost his place in Laurent Blanc's squad after being banned for three matches for abusing a journalist in the aftermath of France's Euro 2012 exit.

He apologised for his error in judgement – and his failure to say sorry sooner – and revealed he missed being involved with the national team.

"I was stupid for reacting to a challenge from a journalist and I went too far. And my biggest mistake is to have waited eight months to apologise," he said.

"I learn from my mistakes, even if it is a big one. I have regrets. People do not know me and my everyday life. You have no idea of the media and popular pressure. It is 10-fold and multiplied by 100.

"Honestly, I was very happy (to be selected for France again). This is something I was missing. I watched every game of the (World Cup qualifying) play-offs with great pride, but also a knot in my stomach.

"I never thought it was over. But I was somewhat disheartened when I was not selected. But it was okay because I was not good with my club.

"You question yourself, but I always knew that if I would be at my best again (I would be picked)."
