Cesar does not expect QPR stay

17 May 2013 10:35

Julio Cesar has confirmed that he will be leaving Queens Park Rangers at the end of the Premier League season.

The Brazilian arrived at Loftus Road in August 2012, signing a four-year contract with the club, but they have struggled this season and their relegation was confirmed at the end April after a 0-0 draw with Reading.

Cesar has made 26 appearances for the club in all competitions throughout 2012-13, keeping just five clean sheets and conceding 37 goals as QPR finished bottom of the table.

The club may be preparing for life in the Championship, but Cesar has revealed that his future lies away from QPR, although he will play in their final league game against Liverpool on Sunday.

"My future today is aquestion mark," he told Sportv. "I have three more years on my contract, but the manager (Harry Redknapp) has already made it clear that it will be hard for me to stay at the club.

"I am happy he thinks that way, it is a sign that my work is being recognised. I dedicated as much as I could to QPR.

"He (Redknapp) had told me that I wouldn't start any more games as I won't be staying at the club. Now he has asked me to play the last game, and that makes me happy.

"I will try to play well and do my best."
