Noble out to end with a win

15 May 2013 18:56

West Ham midfielder Mark Noble has stressed his desire to end the Premier League campaign with a win when they face Reading on Sunday.

The Upton Park club have enjoyed a relatively successful first season back in the Premier League following their promotion from the Championship last term, and can secure a top-10 finish if they take all three points against their already relegated visitors.

Noble insists Sam Allardyce's men are up to task and have extra motivation with Reading one of the sides who edged them to automatic promotion from the second tier.

He told the club's official website: "Finishing in the top 10 would see us hit our target. Reading pipped us to the post last year so it would be a little bit of revenge there.

"We'll be at home so we want to give the fans a good send-off for all the support they've given us all year and hopefully we can give them a good game and come away with three points.

"You don't want to end the last home game with a bad result because you take the kids around the pitch afterwards and all that sort of stuff. It's nice to have won the game and to go away on holiday with a smile on your face."

Manager Allardyce agreed to a new two-year contract last weekend, and Noble was keen to offer his support to the former Bolton, Blackburn and Newcastle boss.

He added: "I've worked with the gaffer for a couple of years now and we get on really well and the players get on well with him.

"He's done a lot for the club in a short space of time. He is over the moon."
