Britton proud of Swansea season

13 May 2013 17:17

Leon Britton hailed Swansea's "great achievement" of a guaranteed top-10 finish in the Premier League this season.

Despite losing 2-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, Swansea cannot finish lower than 10th.

A win against Fulham in Sunday's final Premier League fixture could see the League Cup winners claim eighth place, with West Brom needing a win against champions United to be sure of staying ahead of Swansea.

"To finish in the top 10 of the Premier League is a great achievement," Britton said.

"We have got a chance to finish eighth, and that's what we are going for now. It's going to be tough against Fulham, but if we win and result go our way then we can finish eighth.

"The last game of the season is not going to be an easy day for us- we have a lot to play for.

"If we don't finish eighth then it will still have been a great season, but hopefully we can give the fans something to cheer about on the last game of the season because they have been fantastic once again.

"Home and away, they turn up in numbers and they deserve a performance from us."

The 30-year-old has been a regular for Swansea this season, appearing on 32 occasions.
